1 Ary Jehovah niteny tamin’ i Mosesy tany an-efitr’ i Sinay, tao amin’ ny trano-lay fihaonana tamin’ ny andro voalohany tamin’ ny volana faharoa, tamin’ ny taona faharoa taorian’ ny nivoahany avy tany amin’ ny tany Egypta, ka nanao hoe:

And the Lord spoke unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after their going out of the land of Egypt, saying,

2 Alao isa ny fiangonana, dia ny Zanak’ Isiraely rehetra, araka ny fokony sy ny fianakaviany avy, ary araka ny anarany tsirairay,

Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, every male according to their polls;

3 dia ny lehilahy rehetra amin’ ny Isiraely hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra, dia izay rehetra azo alefa hanafika; handamina azy araka ny antokony avy ianao sy Arona.

From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: these shall ye number according to their armies, thou and Aaron.

4 Ary aoka hisy lehilahy iray avy isam-pirenena ho namanareo, dia izay samy lohan’ ny fianakaviany avy.

And with you there shall be one man each of every tribe; a man who is the head of his family division.

5 Ary izao no anaran’ ireo lehilahy ho namanareo ireo: Ny avy amin’ i Robena dia Elizora, zanak’ i Sedeora;

And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you; of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.

6 ny avy amin’ i Simeona dia Selomiela, zanak’ i Zorisaday;

Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

7 ny avy amin’ i Joda dia Nasona, zanak’ i Aminadaba;

Of Judah: Nachshon the son of 'Amminadab.

8 ny avy amin’ Isakara dia Netanela, zanak’ i Zoara;

Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.

9 ny avy amin’ i Zebolona dia Eliaba, zanak’ i Helona;

Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Chelon.

10 ny avy amin’ ny zanak’ i Josefa dia Elisama, zanak’ i Amihoda, avy amin’ i Efraima, ary Gamaliela, zanak’ i Pedazora, avy amin’ i Manase kosa;

Of the children of Joseph, of Ephraim: Elishama the son of 'Ammihud; of Menasseh: Gamliel the son of Pedahzur.

11 ny avy amin’ i Benjamina dia Abidana, zanak’ i Gideony;

Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gidoni.

12 ny avy amin’ i Dana dia Ahiezera, zanak’ i Amisaday;

Of Dan: Achiezer the son of 'Ammishaddai.

13 ny avy amin’ i Asera dia Fagiela, zanak’ i Okrana;

Of Asher: Pagiel the son of 'Ochran.

14 ny avy amin’ i Gada dia Eliasafa, zanak’ i Doela;

Of Gad: Elyassaph the son of Deuel.

15 ny avy amin’ i Naftaly dia Ahira, zanak’ i Enana.

Of Naphtali: Achira the son of 'Enan.

16 Ireo no voafidin’ ny fiangonana, dia samy lohan’ ny fireneny avy sady mpifehy arivo amin’ ny Isiraely.

These were the selected of the congregation, the princes of the tribes of their fathers; the heads of the thousands of Israel were they.

17 Ary Mosesy sy Arona naka ireo olona voatonona anarana ireo,

And Moses and Aaron took these men who are expressed by name:

18 dia namory ny fiangonana rehetra tamin’ ny andro voalohany tamin’ ny volana faharoa; ary samy nampanoratra ny anarany avy izy araka ny firazanany, dia araka ny fokony sy ny fianakaviany, ary araka ny anarany tsirairay, hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra.

And all the congregation they assembled together on the first day of the second month, and they were enrolled in the lists of their pedigrees after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, according to their polls.

19 Araka izay nandidian’ i Jehovah an’ i Mosesy no nandaminany azy tany an-efitr’ Sinay.

As the Lord had commanded Moses, so did he number them in the wilderness of Sinai.

20 Ary tamin’ ny taranak’ i Robena, lahimatoan’ Isiraely, araka ny fokony sy ny fianakaviany, ary araka ny anarany tsirairay, dia ny lehilahy rehetra hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra izay azo nalefa hanafika,

And there were of the children of Reuben the first-born of Israel, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names according to their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

21 izay voalamina avy tamin’ ny firenen’ i Robena dia diman-jato amby enina arivo sy efatra alina.

Those that were numbered of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.

22 Ary tamin’ ny taranak’ i Simeona araka ny fokony sy ny fianakaviany, dia izay rehetra voalamina, araka ny anarany tsirairay, dia ny lehilahy rehetra hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra, izay azo nalefa hanafika

Of the children of Simeon, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, those that were numbered of them, by numbering the names according to their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

23 izay voalamina avy tamin’ ny firenen’ i Simeona dia telon-jato amby sivy arivo sy dimy alina.

Those that were numbered of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.

24 Ary tamin’ ny taranak’ i Gada araka ny fokony sy ny fianakaviany, ary araka ny anarany tsirairay, hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra, dia izay rehetra azo nalefa hanafika,

Of the children of Gad, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

25 izay voalamina avy tamin’ ny firenen’ i Gada dia dimam-polo amby enin-jato sy dimy arivo sy efatra alina.

Those that were numbered of the tribe of Gad, were forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty.

26 Ary tamin’ ny taranak’ i Joda araka ny fokony sy ny fianakaviany, ary araka ny anarany tsirairay hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra, dia izay rehetra azo nalefa hanafika,

Of the children of Judah, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

27 izay voalamina avy tamin’ ny firenen’ i Joda dia enin-jato amby efatra arivo sy fito alina.

Those that were numbered of the tribe of Judah, were seventy and four thousand and six hundred.

28 Ary tamin’ ny taranak’ Isakara araka ny fokony sy ny fianakaviany, ary araka ny anarany tsirairay, hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra, dia izay rehetra azo nalefa hanafika,

Of the children of Issachar, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

29 izay voalamina avy tamin’ ny firenen’ Isakara dia efa-jato amby efatra arivo sy dimy alina.

Those that were numbered of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.

30 Ary tamin’ ny taranak’ i Zebolona araka ny fokony sy ny fianakaviany, ary araka ny anarany tsirairay, hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra, dia izay rehetra azo nalefa hanafika,

Of the children of Zebulun, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

31 izay voalamina avy tamin’ ny firenen’ i Zebolona dia efa-jato amby fito arivo sy dimy alina.

Those that were numbered of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.

32 Ary tamin’ ny taranak’ i Josefa: dia avy tamin’ ny taranak’ i Efraima araka ny fokony sy ny fianakaviany, ary araka ny anarany tsirairay, hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra, dia izay rehetra azo nalefa hanafika,

Of the children of Joseph, namely, of the children of Ephraim, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war.

33 izay voalamina avy tamin’ ny firenen’ i Efraima dia diman-jato amby efatra alina;

Those that were numbered of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred.

34 ary tamin’ ny taranak’ i Manase araka ny fokony sy ny fianakaviany, ary araka ny anarany tsirairay, hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra, dia izay rehetra azo nalefa hanafika,

Of the children of Menasseh, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

35 izay voalamina avy tamin’ ny firenen’ i Manase dia roan-jato amby roa arivo sy telo alina.

Those that were numbered of the tribe of Menasseh, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.

36 Ary tamin’ ny taranak’ i Benjamina araka ny fokony sy ny fianakaviany, ary araka ny anarany tsirairay, hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra, dia izay rehetra azo nalefa hanafika,

Of the children of Benjamin, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

37 izay voalamina avy tamin’ ny firenen’ i Benjamina dia efa-jato amby dimy arivo sy telo alina.

Those that were numbered of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.

38 Ary tamin’ ny taranak’ i Dana araka ny fokony sy ny fianakaviany, ary araka ny anarany tsirairay, hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra, dia izay rehetra azo nalefa hanafika,

Of the children of Dan, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

39 izay voalamina avy tamin’ ny firenen’ i Dana dia fiton-jato amby roa arivo sy enina alina.

Those that were numbered of the tribe of Dan, were sixty and two thousand and seven hundred.

40 Ary tamin’ ny taranak’ i Asera araka ny fokony sy ny fianakaviany, ary araka ny anarany tsirairay, hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra, dia izay rehetra azo nalefa hanafika

Of the children of Asher, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

41 izay voalamina avy tamin’ ny firenen’ i Asera dia diman-jato amby arivo sy efatra alina.

Those that were numbered of the tribe of Asher, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.

42 Ary tamin’ ny taranak’ i Naftaly araka ny fokony sy ny fianakaviany, ary araka ny anarany tsirairay, hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra, dia izay rehetra azo nalefa hanafika,

Of the children of Naphtali, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

43 izay voalamina avy tamin’ ny firenen’ i Asera dia efa-jato amby telo arivo sy dimy alina.

Those that were numbered of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

44 Ireo no voalamin’ i Mosesy sy Arona ary ny roa ambin’ ny folo lahy lehibe amin’ ny Isiraely, izay samy lohan’ ny fianakaviany avy.

These are those that were numbered, whom Moses numbered with Aaron, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men; one man each for his family division were they.

45 Ary izay rehetra avy tamin’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely araka ny fianakaviany, hatramin’ ny roa-polo taona no ho miakatra, dia izay rehetra azo nalefa hanafika avy amin’ ny Isiraely,

Thus were all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, by the descent from their fathers, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Israel, —

46 dia dimam-polo amby dimam-jato sy telo arivo sy enina hetsy.

Even all they that were numbered, were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

47 Fa ny Levita, araka ny fireneny kosa dia tsy mba nalamina ho isan’ ireo.

But the Levites, after the tribe of their fathers, were not numbered among them.

48 Fa Jehovah niteny tamin’ i Mosesy ka nanao hoe:

For the Lord had spoken unto Moses, saying,

49 Ny firenen’ ny Levita ihany no aza alamina, ary aza mba alaina isa miaraka amin’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely;

Only the tribe of Levi shalt thou not number, and their sum shalt thou not take, among the children of Israel;

50 fa tendreo izy hitandrina ny tabernakelin’ ny Vavolombelona sy ny fanaka rehetra ary ny zavatra rehetra izay momba azy; fa izy no hitondra ny tabernakely sy ny zavatra rehetra momba azy sady hanao fanompoam-pivavahana ao; ary manodidina ny tabernakely no hitobiany.

But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony, and over all its vessels, and over all things that belong to it: they shall carry the tabernacle, and all its vessels; and they shall minister unto it; and round about the tabernacle shall they encamp.

51 Ary raha hafindra ny tabernakely, dia ny Levita no hangorona azy; ary raha haorina ny tabernakely, dia ny Levita no hanangana azy; fa raha olon-kafa no manakaiky, dia hatao maty izy.

And when the tabernacle is to be carried forward, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

52 Dia hitoby ny Zanak’ Isiraely, samy eo amin’ ny tobiny avy, ary samy eo amin’ ny fanevany ary, araka ny antokony.

And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their armies.

53 Fa ny Levita kosa hitoby manodidina ny tabernakelin’ ny Vavolombelona, mba tsy hisy fahatezerana hahatratra ny fiangonan’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely; ary ny Levita hitandrina ny anjara raharaha momba ny tabernakelin’ ny Vavolombelona.

But the Levites shall encamp round shout the tabernacle of the testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of the testimony.

54 Dia nataon’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely izany; araka izay rehetra efa nandidian’ i Jehovah an’ i Mosesy no nataony.

And the children of Israel did so: all, just as the Lord had commanded Moses, so did they.
