And when Jesus had finished these discourses, He said to his disciples,
2 Fantatrareo fa raha afaka indroa andro, dia ho tonga ny Paska, koa ny Zanak’ olona dia hatolotra hohomboana amin’ ny hazo fijaliana.
Ye know that after two days the passover is to be kept, ---and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.
3 Ary tamin’ izany dia nivory ny lohan’ ny mpisorona sy ny loholona tao an-kianjan’ ny tranon’ ny mpisoronabe atao hoe Kaiafa.
Now the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people were then assembled together into the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas:
4 Ary niara-nihevitra izy hisambotra an’ i Jesosy amin’ ny fitaka ka hamono Azy;
and were consulting how they might take Jesus by treachery and put Him to death.

But they said, Not on the feast-day, least there should be a tumult among the people.
6 Ary nony tany Betania Jesosy, tao an-tranon’ i Simona boka,
And when Jesus was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
7 dia nanatona Azy ny vehivavy anankiray nitondra tavoara alabastara feno menaka manitra saro-bidy loatra, ka naidiny tamin’ ny lohany izany, raha nipetraka nihinana Izy.
there came to Him a woman with an alabaster-box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head as He was at table:
8 Fa nony nahita izany ny mpianatra, dia tezitra ka nanao hoe: Inona no anton’ izao fandaniam-poana izao?
but when his disciples saw it, they were some of them provoked at it, and said, Wherefore is this waste?
9 Fa azo namidy ho lafo be iny ka homena ny malahelo.
for this ointment might have been sold for a great deal of money, and given to the poor.
10 Ary fantatr’ i Jesosy izay nataon’ ireo, ka dia hoy Izy taminy: Nahoana ianareo no mampalahelo an-dravehivavy? fa asa soa no nataony tamiko.
But Jesus, knowing what passed, said to them, Why do ye give the woman uneasiness? for she has done a good office to me:
11 Fa ny malahelo dia eto aminareo mandrakariva, fa Izaho tsy mba ho eto aminareo mandrakariva.
(seeing ye have the poor always with you, but me ye have not always: ) for in pouring this ointment on my body,
12 Fa izy no nampidina izany menaka manitra izany tamin’ ny tenako, dia ny hamboatra Ahy halevina no nanaovany izany.
she has embalmed me for my burial.
13 Lazaiko aminareo marina tokoa: Na aiza na aiza amin’ izao tontolo izao no hitoriana ity filazantsara ity, dia holazaina koa izay nataon-dravehivavy mba ho fahatsiarovana azy.
Verily I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached, in the whole world, what she hath done shall also be spoken of for a memorial of her.

About this time went one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot,

to the chief priests, and said, What will ye give me, and I will deliver Him to you? and they promised him thirty pieces of silver:

and from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.

Now upon the first day of the feast of unleavened bread, came the disciples to Jesus, saying, where wouldest thou have us make preparation for thee to eat the passover?
18 Ary hoy Izy: Mankanesa any an-tanàna ho any amin-dralehilahy, ka lazao aminy hoe: Hoy ny Mpampianatra: Efa akaiky ny fotoako; koa ato aminao Aho sy ny mpianatro no hitandrina ny Paska.
And He said, Go into the city, to such a man, and tell him, The master saith, my time is near, I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples: and the disciples did as Jesus ordered them,

and prepared the passover.
20 Ary nony hariva ny andro, dia nipetraka nihinana Izy mbamin’ ny mpianatra roa ambin’ ny folo lahy.
And when the evening was come, He sat down with the twelve:
21 Ary raha mbola nihinana izy, dia hoy Jesosy: Lazaiko aminareo marina tokoa fa ny anankiray aminareo hamadika Ahy.
and as they were eating, He said, Verily I tell you, that one of you will betray me.
22 Dia nalahelo indrindra izy rehetra, ka samy nanontany Azy hoe: Moa izaho va izany, Tompoko?
And they were exceedingly grieved, and said to Him, every one of them, Lord, is it I?
23 Ary Izy namaly ka nanao hoe: Izay niara-nanatsoboka ny tànany tamiko tao anatin’ ny lovia, izy no hamadika Ahy.
and He answered, he that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, even he will betray me.
24 Ny Zanak’ olona dia mandeha tokoa araka izay nanoratana Azy, nefa lozan’ izay olona hahazoana ny Zanak’ olona hatolotra! tsara ho an’ izany olona izany raha tsy ary akory.
The Son of man is going indeed as it is written concerning Him: but wo to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed; it had been good for him, if that man had never been born.
25 Ary Jodasy, izay namadika Azy, dia namaly ka nanao hoe: Izaho va izany, Raby ô? Dia hoy Izy taminy: Voalazanao.
And Judas, who betrayed Him, answered and said, Master, is it I? and He said unto him, It is.
26 Ary raha mbola nihinana izy, dia nandray mofo Jesosy, ka nony efa nisaotra Izy, dia novakiny ka natolony ny mpianatra, ary hoy Izy: Raiso, hano, ity no tenako.
Now as they were at table, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body:
27 Ary nandray kapoaka Izy, ka nony efa nisaotra, dia natolony azy ka nataony hoe: Sotroinareo rehetra ity;
and He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it:
28 fa ity no rako, dia ny amin’ ny fanekena, izay alatsaka ho an’ ny maro ho famelan-keloka.
for this is my blood, the blood of the new covenant, which is to be shed for many for the remission of sins:
29 Ary lazaiko aminareo fa hatramin’ izao dia tsy mba hisotro itony vokatry ny voaloboka itony intsony Aho mandra-pihavin’ ny andro hiarahako misotro izay vaovao aminareo any amin’ ny fanjakan’ ny Raiko.
but I tell you, that from henceforth I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in the kingdom of my Father.

And when they had sung an hymn, they went out to the mount of Olives.

Then saith Jesus unto them, Ye will all take offence at me this night; for it is written, "I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered:"
32 Fa rehefa atsangana Aho, dia hialoha anareo ho any Galilia.
but after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.
33 Fa Petera namaly ka nanao taminy hoe: Na dia ho tafintohina noho ny aminao aza ny olona rehetra, izaho tsy mba ho tafintohina mandrakizay.
But Peter answered and said to Him, though they should all be offended in thee, yet will I never be offended.
34 Hoy Jesosy taminy: Lazaiko aminao marina tokoa fa anio alina, raha tsy mbola misy akoho maneno, dia handà Ahy intelo ianao.
Jesus said unto him, Verily I tell thee that this night, before the cock crow, thou wilt deny me thrice.
35 Hoy Petera taminy: Na dia hiara-maty aminao aza aho, tsy mba handà Anao tokoa aho. Ary toy izany koa no nolazain’ ny mpianatra rehetra.
Peter replied, though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. And so likewise said all the disciples.
36 Ary Jesosy mbamin’ ny mpianany dia tonga tao amin’ ny saha anankiray atao hoe Getsemane, ary hoy Izy tamin’ ny mpianany: Mipetraha eto aloha ianareo, raha mbola mankeroa hivavaka Aho.
Then went Jesus with them to a place called Gethsemane, and saith to the disciples, Sit here, while I go there and pray:
37 Ary nitondra an’ i Petera mbamin’ izy roa lahy zanak’ i Zebedio Izy, dia nalahelo am-po sy ory indrindra.
and having taken with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be sorrowful and much distressed;
38 Dia hoy Izy taminy: Fadiranovana loatra ny fanahiko, toy ny efa ho faty; mitoera eto, ka miaraha miari-tory amiko.
and saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful even unto death, stay here and watch with me.
39 Ary nony nandroso kelikely Izy, dia niankohoka ka nivavaka hoe: Raiko ô, raha azo atao, dia aoka hesorina amiko ity kapoaka ity; nefa aoka tsy ny sitrapoko anie no hatao, fa ny Anao.
And going a little farther, He prostrated himself, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.
40 Ary nankeo amin’ ny mpianatra Izy ka nahita azy matory, dia hoy Izy tamin’ i Petera: Hay! tsy mahazaka ny miara-miari-tory amiko na dia ora iray ihany aza ianareo!
And coming to the disciples, he findeth them asleep, and saith to Peter, what! could ye not watch with me one hour?
41 Miareta tory sy mivavaha ianareo, mba tsy hidiranareo amin’ ny fakam-panahy; mety ihany ny fanahy, fa ny nofo no tsy manan-kery.
Watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
42 Dia nandeha fanindroany Izy ka nivavaka hoe: Raiko ô, raha tsy azo esorina ity, fa tsy maintsy hosotroiko, dia aoka ny sitraponao no hatao.
And going away again, the second time He prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass from me, unless I drink it, thy will be done.
43 Ary nony tonga Izy, dia nahita azy matory indray; fa efa nilondolondo ny masony.
And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.
44 Ary rehefa nandao azy Izy ka lasa indray, dia nivavaka fanintelony ka nanao izany teny izany ihany.
And He left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, to the same effect.
45 Dia nankeo amin’ ny mpianatra Izy ka nanao taminy hoe: Matoria ary ankehitriny, ka mialà sasatra ianareo; indro, efa akaiky ny ora, ary ny Zanak’ olona hatolotra eo an-tànan’ ny mpanota.
Then He cometh to his disciples and saith, Are ye sleeping still and taking your rest? behold, the hour is come, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46 Mitsangàna, andeha isika; indro fa efa akaiky ilay mamadika Ahy.
Rise, let us go, see the traitor is at hand.
47 Ary raha mbola niteny Jesosy, indro, avy Jodasy, izay isan’ ny roa ambin’ ny folo lahy, mbamin’ ny vahoaka betsaka niaraka taminy, nitondra sabatra sy langilangy, nirahin’ ny lohan’ ny mpisorona sy ny loholona.
And while He was yet speaking, behold, Judas one of the twelve came, and with him a great number, with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people:
48 Ary ilay namadika Azy nanome famantarana ny olona ka nanao hoe: Izay horohako no Izy; sambory Izy.
(now he that betrayed Him, had given them a signal, saying, The man whom I shall kiss is He, lay hold of Him: )
49 Ary niaraka tamin’ izay dia nanatona an’ i Jesosy izy ka nanao hoe: Finaritra, Raby! dia nanoroka Azy.
and going directly up to Jesus, he said, Hail master, and kissed Him.
50 Fa hoy Jesosy taminy: Ry sakaiza, ataovy izay nalehanao eto. Dia nanatona ny olona ka nisambotra an’ i Jesosy ary nitana Azy.
And Jesus said to him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? then they came up and laid hands on Jesus, and apprehended Him.
51 Ary, indro, ny anankiray tamin’ izay nomba an’ i Jesosy naninjitra ny tànany, dia nanatsoaka ny sabany ka nikapa ny mpanompon’ ny mpisoronabe ary nahafaka ny sofiny.
And one of them that were with Jesus, stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and striking at the high priest's servant took off his ear.
52 Fa hoy Jesosy taminy: Ampidiro amin’ ny tranony ny sabatrao; fa izay rehetra mandray sabatra no hovonoina amin’ ny sabatra.
Then said Jesus to him, Put up thy sword into it's place; for they that take the sword shall perish by the sword:
53 Ary ataonao va fa tsy mahazo mangataka amin’ ny Raiko Aho, dia haniraka anjely tsy omby roa ambin’ ny folo legiona ho etỳ amiko Izy ankehitriny?
dost thou think that I cannot now apply to my Father, and He will send me more than twelve legions of angels?
54 Raha izany, dia hatao ahoana no hahatanteraka ny Soratra Masìna, izay milaza fa tsy maintsy ho tonga izany?
but how then should the scriptures be fulfilled, which say that thus it must be?
55 Ary tamin’ izany ora izany dia niteny tamin’ ny vahoaka Jesosy ka nanao hoe: Mivoaka mitondra sabatra sy langilangy hisambotra Ahy toy ny hisambotra jiolahy va ianareo? Isan’ andro dia nipetraka nampianatra teo an-kianjan’ ny tempoly Aho, nefa tsy nisambotra Ahy ianareo.
Then said Jesus to the multitudes, Ye are come out as against a thief with swords and clubs to take me, whereas I sat with you day after day teaching in the temple, and ye did not seize me: but all this is done,
56 Fa izany rehetra izany dia tonga mba hahatanteraka izay voasoratry ny mpaminany. Ary tamin’ izany dia nandao Azy ny mpianatra rehetra ka nandositra.
that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.
57 Ary izay efa nisambotra an’ i Jesosy dia nitondra Azy ho any amin’ i Kaiafa mpisoronabe, izay nivorian’ ny mpanora-dalàna sy ny loholona.
Then all the disciples deserted Him and fled. And they, that apprehended Jesus, led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled:
58 Ary Petera nanaraka Azy teny lavidavitra eny hatrany amin’ ny kianjan’ ny tranon’ ny mpisoronabe; ary niditra izy, dia niara-nipetraka tao amin’ ny mpiandry raharaha mba hahita izay hiafarany.
and Peter followed Him at a distance, to the high-priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, that he might see the issue.
59 Ary ny lohan’ ny mpisorona mbamin’ ny Synedriona rehetra nitady teny ho entiny hiampanga lainga an’ i Jesosy mba hamonoany Azy;
Now the chief priests and elders, and the whole council sought false-witness against Jesus, that they might put Him to death: but found none.
60 fa tsy nahita izy, na dia maro aza ny vavolombelona mandainga tonga teo. Ary nony farany dia nisy roa lahy tonga teo, izay nanao hoe:
And tho' many false witnesses came, they found none to their purpose. But at last came two false witnesses and said,
61 Ilehity nanao hoe: Mahay mandrava ny tempolin’ Andriamanitra Aho sy manangana azy amin’ ny hateloana.
This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
62 Dia nitsangana ny mpisoronabe ka nanao tamin’ i Jesosy hoe: Tsy mety mamaly akory va Hianao? Inona no iampangan’ ireto Anao?
And the high priest stood up and said to Him, Dost thou make no answer? what do these men testify against thee? but Jesus made no reply.
63 Nefa tsy niteny Jesosy. Dia hoy ny mpisoronabe taminy: Ampianianiko amin’ Andriamanitra velona Hianao hilaza aminay, raha Hianao no Kristy, Zanak’ Andriamanitra.
Then the high priest said to Him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us, if thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
64 Hoy Jesosy taminy: Voalazanao; ary koa, lazaiko aminareo: Hatramin’ izao dia ho hitanareo ny Zanak’ olona mipetraka eo amin’ ny tanana ankavanan’ ny Hery sy avy eo amin’ ny rahon’ ny lanitra.
Jesus saith unto him, It is as thou hast said: and I tell you, hereafter ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.
65 Ary tamin’ izany ny mpisoronabe dia nandriatra ny fitafiany ka nanao hoe: Efa niteny ratsy Izy; ahoana no mbola ilantsika vavolombelona indray? indro, efa renareo izao fitenenan-dratsy izao.
Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy, what need have we more of witnesses? now ye have heard his blasphemy, what think ye?
66 Ahoana no hevitrareo? Ary ireo namaly ka nanao hoe: Miendrika hohelohina ho faty Izy.
and they answered, He ought to be put to death.
67 Dia nororany ny tavany, ka nasiany totohondry Izy; ary ny sasany namely tahamaina Azy.
Then did they spit in his face, and beat Him about the head; and some struck Him with rods,
68 ka nanao hoe: Maminania aminay, ry Kristy, iza no namely Anao?
saying, Divine to us, thou Christ, who it is that smote thee.
69 Ary Petera nipetraka teo ivelany, teo an-kianja, dia nanatona azy ny ankizivavy anankiray ka nanao hoe: Hianao koa nomba an’ i Jesosy, ilay Galiliana.
Now Peter was sitting without in the hall, and one of the maids came to him and said, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee:
70 Fa izy nandà teo anatrehan’ izy rehetra ka nanao hoe: Tsy azoko izay lazainao.
but he denied it before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.
71 Ary nony niala ho eo am-bavahady izy, dia nahita azy ny ankizivavy anankiray koa ka nilaza tamin’ izay teo hoe: Ity koa nomba an’ i Jesosy avy any Nazareta.
And he went out into the porch; after which another maid saw him, and said to them that were there, This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth:
72 Ary nandà indray tamin’ ny fianianana izy ka nanao hoe: Tsy fantatro izany Lehilahy izany.
and he denied a second time, and that with an oath, saying, I know not the man. And a little after, they that stood by came to Peter and said,
73 Ary nony afaka kelikely, dia nanatona izay nijanona teo ka nanao tamin’ i Petera hoe: Marina tokoa fa naman’ ireny ianao; fa ny fiteninao miampanga anao.
Verily thou also art one of them, for thy speech discovers thee:
74 Dia vao niozona sy nianiana izy ka nanao hoe: Tsy fantatro izany Lehilahy izany; ary niaraka tamin’ izay dia nisy akoho naneno.
then he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
75 Ary Petera nahatsiaro ny tenin’ i Jesosy, izay nolazainy hoe: Raha tsy mbola misy akoho maneno, dia handà Ahy intelo ianao. Ary rehefa nivoaka teny ivelany izy, dia nitomany fatratra.
And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who had said to him, before the cock crow, thou wilt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
