and Salmon had Booz by Rahab, and Booz had Obed by Ruth,
6 ary Jese niteraka an’ i Davida mpanjaka. Ary Davida niteraka an’ i Solomona tamin’ ny vadin’ i Oria;
and Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David the king, and David had Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.

And Solomon begat Roboam, and Roboam begat Abia,
8 ary Asa niteraka an’ i Josafata; ary Josafata niteraka an’ i Jorama; ary Jorama niteraka an’ i Ozia;
and Abia begat Asa, and Asa begat Josaphat, and Josaphat begat Joram,
9 ary Ozia niteraka an’ i Jotama; ary Jotama niteraka an’ i Ahaza; ary Ahaza niteraka an’ i Hezekia;
and Joram begat Ozias, and Ozias begat Joatham, and Joatham begat Ahaz, and Ahaz begat Ezechias,
10 ary Hezekia niteraka an’ i Manase; ary Manase niteraka an’ i Amona; ary Amona niteraka an’ i Josia;
and Ezechias begat Manasses, and Manasses begat Amon,
11 ary Josia niteraka an’ i Jekonia mirahalahy avy, tamin’ ny nifindrana tany Babylona.
and Amon begat Josias, and Josias begat Jakim, and Jakim begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time of their being carried away to Babylon.
12 Ary taorian’ ny nifindrana tany Babylona Jekonia dia niteraka an’ i Sealtiela; ary Sealtiela niteraka an’ i Zerobabela;
And after the captivity of Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel,
13 ary Zerobabela niteraka an’ i Abihoda; ary Abihoda niteraka an’ i Eliakima; ary Eliakima niteraka an’ i Azora;
and Salathiel begat Zorobabel, and Zorobabel begat Abiud, and Abiud begat Eliakim, and Eliakim begat Azor,
14 ary Azora niteraka an’ i Zadoka; ary Zadoka niteraka an’ i Akima; ary Akima niteraka an’ i Elihoda;
and Azor begat Sadok, and Sadok begat Achim,
15 ary Elihoda niteraka an’ i Eleazara; ary Eleazara niteraka an’ i Matana; ary Matana niteraka an i Jakoba;
and Achim begat Eliud, and Eliud begat Eleazar, and Eleazar begat Matthan, and Matthan begat Jacob,
16 ary Jakoba niteraka an’ i Josefa, vadin’ i Maria; ary Maria niteraka an’ i Jesosy, Izay atao hoe Kristy.
and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.

All the generations therefore from Abraham to David are fourteen generations: and from David until the captivity of Babylon fourteen generations: and from the Babylonish captivity unto Christ, fourteen generations.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was in wise: when Mary his mother was promised in marriage to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child by the Holy Ghost:

but Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing publicly to expose her, was inclined to break off the contract with her privately;

and when he was thinking on these things, behold an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph thou Son of David, scruple not to take unto thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Ary izany rehetra izany dia tonga mba hahatanteraka izay nampilazain’ ny Tompo ny mpaminany hoe:
(Now all this came to pass, that it might be fulfilled, which the Lord spake by the prophet, saying,
23 Indro, ny virijina hitoe-jaza ka hiteraka zazalahy; Ary ny anarany hataon’ ny olona hoe Imanoela, izany hoe, raha adika: Amintsika Andriamanitra.
"Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel," which is God with us.)
24 Ary Josefa, rehefa nahatsiaro tamin’ ny torimasony, dia nanao araka izay nandidian’ ny anjelin’ ny Tompo ary ka nampakatra ny vadiny.
So Joseph, when he awoke from his sleep, did as the angel of the Lord directed him, and took home his wife:
25 Ary tsy nahalala azy izy mandra-piterany Zazalahy; ary ny anarany nataony hoe Jesosy.
and he knew her not, till she brought forth her Son the first-born, and he called his name Jesus.
