1 Ary Jesosy feno ny Fanahy Masìna dia niverina avy tany Jordana, ary nentin’ ny Fanahy tany an-efitra efa-polo andro Izy
Now Jesus being full of the holy Spirit, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being forty days tempted by the devil;
2 ka nalain’ ny devoly fanahy. Ary tsy nihinan-kanina akory Izy tamin’ izany andro izany, ka rehefa tapitra izany, dia noana Izy.
and He did eat nothing in all those days: and when they were ended, at last He was hungry.
3 Ary hoy ny devoly taminy: raha Zanak’ Andriamanitra Hianao, teneno io vato io mba ho tonga mofo.
And the devil said to Him, If thou art the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.
4 Fa Jesosy namaly azy ka nanao hoe: Voasoratra hoe: Tsy mofo ihany no hiveloman’ ny olona.
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, that man shall not live by bread only, but on every word of God.
5 Ary ny devoly nitondra Azy niakatra, dia naneho Azy indray mipi-maso ny fanjakana rehetra amin’ izao tontolo izao.
And the devil taking Him up into an high mountain, shewed Him all the kingdoms of the world in an instant,
6 Dia hoy ny devoly taminy: Homeko Anao izao fanapahana rehetra izao mbamin’ ny voninahiny, fa efa natolotra ahy izany, ka izay tiako no homeko azy;
and said to Him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for it is committed to me, and I give it to whomsoever I will.
7 koa raha hiankohoka eto anatrehako Hianao, dia ho Anao avokoa izany rehetra izany.
Therefore, if thou wilt but worship me, they all shall be thine.
8 Fa Jesosy namaly ka nanao taminy hoe: Voasoratra hoe: Jehovah Andriamanitrao no hiankohofanao, ary Izy irery ihany no hotompoinao.
And Jesus answering him said with indignation, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.
9 Ary nitondra Azy nankany Jerosalema izy, dia nampitoetra Azy teo an-tampon’ ny tempoly ka nanao taminy hoe: Raha Zanak’ Andriamanitra Hianao, mivarina any ambany any;
And he brought Him to Jerusalem, and set him on a battlement of the temple, and said to Him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence;
10 fa voasoratra hoe: Izy handidy ny anjeliny ny aminao mba hiaro Anao;
for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee,
11 Ary eny an-tànany no hitondran’ ireo Anao, Fandrao ho tafintohina amin’ ny vato ny tongotrao.
to keep thee, and they shall bear thee up in their hands, least thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12 Fa Jesosy namaly ka nanao taminy hoe: Voalaza hoe: Aza maka fanahy an’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrao.
And Jesus answered him, it is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
13 Ary rehefa nahatapitra izay fakam-panahy rehetra ny devoly, dia nandao Azy izy aloha.
And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him for a time.
14 Ary Jesosy niverina tamin’ ny herin’ ny Fanahy nankany Galilia; dia niely tamin’ ny tany rehetra manodidina ny lazany.
And Jesus returned by the influence of the Spirit into Galilee: and a fame was spread through all the country round about concerning Him:
15 Ary Izy nampianatra teny amin’ ny synagogan’ ny olona ka nankalazain’ izy rehetra.
and He taught in their synagogues with universal applause.
16 Dia tonga tao Nazareta, izay nahabe Azy Izy; ary araka ny fanaony dia niditra tao amin’ ny synagoga tamin’ ny andro Sabata Izy ka nitsangana hamaky teny.
And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up: and according to his custom He went into the synagogue on the sabbath-day, and stood up to read.
17 Dia natolotra Azy ny bokin’ Isaia mpaminany; ary nony namelatra ny boky Izy, dia nahita ny teny voasoratra hoe:
And there was delivered to Him the book of the prophet Esaias; and opening the book, He found the place where it was written,
18 Ny Fanahin’ i Jehovah no ato amiko, Satria nanosotra Ahy hitory teny soa mahafaly amin’ ny malahelo Izy; Naniraka Ahy hitory fandefasana amin’ ny mpifatotra Izy, Sy fampahiratana amin’ ny jamba, Hanafaka izay nampahorina,
"The spirit of the Lord is upon me to the end, for which He hath anointed me: He hath sent me to publish good tidings to the poor, to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to release them that are bruised,
19 Hitory ny taona ankasitrahan’ i Jehovah.
and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord."
20 Ary rehefa nahorony ny boky ka naveriny tamin’ ny mpanao raharaha, dia nipetraka Izy. Ary nandinika Azy ny mason’ izay rehetra teo amin’ ny synagoga.
And He folded up the book, and gave it again to the minister, and sat down: and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon Him.
21 Ary Jesosy niteny taminy hoe: Androany no efa tanteraka eto anatrehanareo izany soratra izany.
And He said unto them, this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
22 Ary izy rehetra nankalaza Azy sady talanjona noho ny tenin’ ny fahasoavana naloaky ny vavany, ka hoy izy: Tsy Zanak’ i Josefa va Ity?
And they all bare witness to Him, and wondered at the gracefulness of the words, which proceeded from his mouth, and said, Is not this the son of Joseph?
23 Ary hoy kosa Jesosy taminy: Hataonareo amiko tokoa izao ohabolana izao hoe: Mpanao fanafody, sitrano ny tenanao: izay renay fa nataonao tao Kapernaomy dia mba ataovy eto amin’ ny taninao koa.
And He said unto them, No doubt ye will apply to me this proverb, "Physician, cure thyself, and do here in thy own country what we have heard were done at Capernaum."
24 Ary hoy koa Izy: Lazaiko aminareo marina tokoa: Tsy misy mpaminany izay ankasitrahana ao amin’ ny taniny.
But, said He, indeed I must tell you, that no prophet is well received in his own country.
25 Fa lazaiko aminareo marina tokoa: Maro no mpitondratena teo amin’ ny Isiraely tamin’ ny andron’ i Elia, raha nihantona ny andro telo taona sy enim-bolana, ka nisy mosary mafy tamin’ ny tany rehetra;
And I assure you, there were many widows in Israel, in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up for three years and six months, and there was a great famine through all the land;
26 nefa tsy mba nirahina ho any amin’ ny anankiray tamin’ ireo Elia, fa ho any Zarefata any amin’ ny tany Sidona ihany, dia ho any amin’ izay vehivavy mpitondratena.
but Elias was sent to none of those widows, but to a widow-woman at Sarepta in the territory of Sidon.
27 Ary maro no boka teo amin’ ny Isiraely tamin’ ny andron’ i Elisa mpaminany, nefa tsy mba nisy nodiovina na dia iray akory aza fa Namàna Syriana ihany.
There were also many lepers in Israel, in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed; but Naaman the Syrian was.
28 Dia tezitra loatra izay rehetra teo amin’ ny synagoga, raha nandre izany,
And all the synagogue were filled with rage, when they heard these things,
29 ka nitsangana izy, dia nandroaka Azy hiala ao an-tanàna ary nitondra Azy ho any an-tampon’ ny havoana niorenan’ ny tanàna, mba hazerany amin’ ny hantsana.
and they rose up and drove Him out of the city, and dragged Him to the brow of the hill, on which their city was built, in order to throw Him down the precipice.
30 Nefa Izy namaky teo afovoany, ka dia lasa nandeha.
But He passed through the midst of them, and went away.
31 Ary nidina tany Kapernaomy, tanàna any Galilia, Jesosy ka nampianatra ny olona tamin’ ny Sabata.
And He came down to Capernaum a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath-days,
32 Dia talanjona ny olona tamin’ ny fampianarany, satria nisy fahefana ny teniny.
and they were astonished at his doctrine; for He spake with authority.
33 Ary nisy olona tao amin’ ny synagoga, izay nanana ny fanahin’ ny demonia maloto, dia niantso tamin’ ny feo mahery izy
And there was a man in the synagogue possessed by the spirit of an impure demon, and he cried out with a loud voice,
34 ka nanao hoe: Indrisy! moa mifaninona akory izahay sy Hianao, ry Jesosy avy any Nazareta? avy handringana anay va Hianao? Fantatro fa Ilay Masin’ Andriamanitra Hianao.
saying, Let us alone, what hast thou to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know who thou art, the holy one of God:
35 Fa Jesosy niteny mafy azy ka nanao hoe: Mangìna ianao, ka mivoaha aminy. Ary ny demonia, nony namotraka azy teo afovoan’ ny olona, dia nivoaka taminy, nefa tsy naharatra azy.
but Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be silent, and come out of him. And the demon threw him down in the midst of the assembly, and came out of him, having done him no hurt.
36 Ary talanjona avokoa izy rehetra ka niresaka hoe: Manao ahoana izao teny izao! fa amin’ ny fahefana sy ny hery no andidiany ny fanahy maloto, dia mivoaka ireo.
And they were all amazed, and said one to another, What a speech is this? for with authority and power He commandeth the impure spirits, and they come out!
37 Ary niely teny amin’ ny tany manodidina rehetra ny lazany.
And his fame spread all over the country round about.
38 Ary nony nitsangana niala tao amin’ ny synagoga Jesosy, dia niditra tao an-tranon’ i Simona. Ary azon’ ny tazo mafy ny rafozam-bavin’ i Simona; ary izy ireo nangataka taminy hahasitrana azy.
And He rose up and went out of the synagogue, and came into the house of Simon: now Simon's wife's mother had a violent fever, and they intreated Him on her behalf.
39 Dia nitsangana teo akaikiny Izy, ka noteneniny mafy ny tazo, dia niala tamin-dravehivavy izany; ary nitsangana niaraka tamin’ izay izy ka nanompo azy ireo.
And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever, and it left her: and immediately she arose and waited upon them.
40 Ary raha nilentika ny masoandro, ny olona rehetra izay nanana marary tamin’ ny aretina samy hafa dia nitondra azy teo aminy; ary dia nametra-tanana tamin’ izy rehetra tsirairay Izy ka nahasitrana azy.
And at sun-set all that had any persons sick of any diseases, brought them to Him: and He laid his hands on every one of them and healed them.
41 Ary nisy demonia nivoaka tamin’ ny maro ka niantso hoe: Hianao no Zanak’ Andriamanitra. Nefa norarany ireo ka tsy navelany hiteny, satria nahalala Azy ho Kristy.
And demons also came out from many, crying out, Thou art the Messiah the Son of God. And He rebuked them, and suffered them not to say, that they knew Him to be the Christ.
42 Ary nony maraina ny andro, dia niala Jesosy ka nankany an-tany foana; ary ny vahoaka nitady Azy, dia nankeo aminy ka te-hihazona Azy mba tsy hialany tao aminy.
And when the day was coming on, He went out and retired into a solitary place; and the people sought for Him, and came to Him, and would fain have detained Him, that He might not go from them.
43 Fa hoy Izy taminy: Tsy maintsy mitory ny teny soa mahafaly ny amin’ ny fanjakan’ Andriamanitra any amin’ ny tanàna hafa koa Aho, satria izany no nanirahana Ahy.
But He said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.
44 Ary Izy nitori-teny tao amin’ ny synagoga eran’ i Galilia.
So He went on preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
