Mpitsara 5
1 Ary Debora sy Baraka, zanak’ i Abinoama, dia nihira tamin’ izany andro izany ka nanao hoe:
In that day Debbora and Barac son of Abinoem sung, and said:
2 Noho ny fitarihan’ ny lehibe tamin’ ny Isiraely sy ny fahazotoan’ ny vahoaka nanolotena, dia miderà an’ i Jehovah.
O you of Israel, that have willingly offered your lives to danger, bless the Lord.
3 Mandrenesa ianareo, ry mpanjaka, mihainoa ianareo, ry mpanapaka! Izaho indrindra no hihira ho an’ i Jehovah; hankalaza an’ i Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely, aho.
Hear, O ye kings, give ear, ye princes: It is I, it is I, that will sing to the Lord, I will sing to the Lord the God of Israel.
4 Jehovah ô, fony nivoaka avy tany Seïra Hianao ary nandeha avy tany amin’ ny tany Edoma, dia nihorohoro ny tany, ary ny lanitra koa nitete; Eny, ny rahona matevina nitete rano.
O Lord, when thou wentest out of Seir, and passedst by the regions of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped water.
5 Ny tendrombohitra niempo teo anatrehan’ i Jehovah. Eny, na dia iry Sinay iry aza teo anatrehan’ i Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely.
The mountains melted before the face of the Lord, and Sinai before the face of the Lord the God of Israel.
6 Tamin’ ny andron’ i Samgara, zanak’ i Anata, sy tamin’ ny andron’ i Jaela dia tsy nodiavina ny lalambe, fa ny sakeli-dalana mivilivily no nalehan’ ny mpandeha.
In the days of Samgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jahel the paths rested: and they that went by them, walked through by-ways.
7 Lao ny tany an-tsaha; eny, lao tamin’ ny Isiraely izany, Mandra-pitsangako, izaho Debora, eny, mandra-pitsangako ho reny teo amin’ ny Isiraely.
The valiant men ceased, and rested in Israel: until Debbora arose, a mother arose in Israel.
8 Nifidy andriamani-baovao ny olona, Ary tamin’ izay dia nisy ady hatrany am-bavahady. Moa nisy ampinga na lefona na dia iray akory aza hita va teo amin’ ny olona efatra alina tamin’ ny Isiraely?
The Lord chose new wars, and he himself overthrew the gates of the enemies: a shield and spear was not seen among forty thousand of Israel.
9 Ny foko mankasitraka ny mpanapaka amin’ ny Isiraely, izay nazoto nanolo-tena teo amin’ ny vahoaka, miderà an’ i Jehovah ianareo.
My heart loveth the princes of Israel: O you that of your own good will offered yourselves to danger, bless the Lord.
10 Hianareo izay mitaingina borikivavy fotsy, ianareo izay mipetraka amin’ ny lamba fitoerana, ary ianareo koa izay mandeha amin’ ny lalana, samia milaza.
Speak, you that ride upon fair asses, and you that sit in judgment, and walk in the way.
11 Lavitra ny feon’ ny mpandefa zana-tsipìka, dia eo amin’ ny fantsakan-drano, no hiresahany ny asa marina nataon’ i Jehovah, dia ny fahamarinany tamin’ ny tany Isily; Tamin’ izany dia nidina ny olon’ i Jehovah ho any am-bavahady.
Where the chariots were dashed together, and the army of the enemies was choked, there let the justices of the Lord be rehearsed, and his clemency towards the brave men of Israel: then the people of the Lord went down to the gates, and obtained the sovereignty.
12 Mifohaza, mifohaza, ry Debora; Mifohaza, mifohaza, ka mihirà! Mitsangana, ry Baraka; ento ny babonao, ry zanakalahin’ i Abinoama.
Arise, arise, O Debbora, arise, arise, and utter a canticle. Arise, Barac, and take hold of thy captives, O son of Abinoem.
13 Tamin’ izany dia nidina izay olo-malaza sisa mbamin’ ny vahoaka, Jehovah nidina homba ahy koa hamely ny olo-mahery.
The remnants of the people are saved, the Lord hath fought among the valiant ones.
14 Ny avy amin’ i Efraima, izay miorina amin’ i Amaleka, dia nomba anao teo amin’ ny firenenao, ry Benjamina; Avy tany Makira no nidinan’ ny mpanao lalàna, ary avy tamin’ i Zebolona ireo mitana ny tehin’ ny mpifehy.
Out of Ephraim he destroyed them into Amalec, and after him out of Benjamin into thy people, O Amalec: Out of Machir there came down princes, and out of Zabulon they that led the army to fight.
15 Ary ny andrianan’ Isakara niaraka tamin’ i Debora, dia Isakara sy Baraka koa; Nampandehanina nanaraka azy any an-dohasaha izy. Lehibe ny fiheverana am-po teny amin’ ny sakeli-dranon’ i Robena!
The captains of Issachar were with Debbora, and followed the steps of Barac, who exposed himself to danger, as one going headlong, and into a pit. Ruben being divided against himself, there was found a strife of courageous men.
16 Nahoana ianao no nitoetra teo anelanelan’ ny vala, hihainoanao ny feon-tsodina any amin’ ny ondry? Lehibe ny fiheverana am-po teny amin’ ny sakeli-dranon’ i Robena!
Why dwellest thou between two borders, that thou mayest hear the bleatings of the flocks? Ruben being divided against himself, there was found a strife of courageous men.
17 Gileada nitoetra tany an-dafin’ i Jordana; Ary nahoana Dana no nitoetra tany an-tsambo? Asera nitoetra tany amoron-dranomasina, Ary teny amin’ ny fitodiany no nipetrahany.
Galaad rested beyond the Jordan, and Dan applied himself to ships: Aser dwelt on the sea shore, and abode in the havens.

But Zabulon and Nephtali offered their lives to death in the region of Merome.
19 Tonga ireo mpanjaka ka niady, eny, niady tao Tanaka ireo mpanjakan’ i Kanana, dia teo anilan’ ny ranon’ i Megido; Tsy nisy volafotsy azony ho babo.
The kings came and fought, the kings of Chanaan fought in Thanach by the waters of Mageddo, and yet they took no spoils.
20 Avy tany an-danitra no nisy ady: ny kintana tamin’ ny nalehany niady tamin’ i Sisera.
War from heaven was made against them, the stars remaining in their order and courses fought against Sisara.
21 Ny ony Kisona nipaoka azy, Izany ony ela izany, dia ny ony Kisona. Mandrosoa amin-kery ianao, ry fanahiko!
The torrent of Cison dragged their carcasses, the torrent of Cadumim, the torrent of Cisoii: tread thou, my soul, upon the strong ones.
22 Tamin’ izany dia nikatrokatroka ny kitron-tsoavaly noho ny fihazakazaka, dia ny fihazakazaky ny maheriny.
The hoofs of the horses were broken whilst the stoutest of the enemies fled amain, and fell headlong down.
23 Ozony Meroza, hoy Ilay Anjelin’ i Jehovah, Ozony dia ozòny ny mponina ao, Satria tsy mba tonga hanampy an’ i Jehovah izy, eny, tsy nanampy an’ i Jehovah hamely ny mahery.
Curse ye the land of Meroz, said the angel of the Lord: curse the inhabitants thereof, because they came not to the help of the Lord, to help his most valiant men.
24 Hotahina mihoatra noho ny vehivavy anie Jaela, vadin’ i Hebera Kenita; Eny, hotahina mihoatra noho ny vehivavy mitoetra an-day anie izy.
Blessed among women be Jahel the wife of Haber the Cinite, and blessed be she in her tent.
25 Rano no nangatahin-dralehilahy, fa ronono aza no nomeny azy; Teo an-dovian’ andriana no nitondrany rononomandry.
He asked her water and she gave him milk, and offered him butter in a dish fit for princes.
26 Ny tànany nandray ny tsima-day, Ary ny tànany ankavanana nandray ny tantanan’ ny mpiasa, dia namely an’ i Sisera tamin’ ny tantanana izy ka nahavoa ny lohany; Namely mafy izy, dia nahaboroaka ny fihirifany.
She put her left hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workman’s hammer, and she struck Sisara, seeking in his head a place for the wound, and strongly piercing through his temples.
27 Teo amin’ ny tongo-dravehivavy no niondrehany nahalavoany niamparany, eny, teo amin’ ny tongony no niondrehany nahalavoany teo amin’ izay niondrehany no niamparan’ ny fatiny.
At her feet he fell: he fainted, and he died: he rolled before her feet, and he lay lifeless and wretched.
28 Tao amin’ ny varavarankely no nitsirihan’ ny renin’ i Sisera ka niantsoantsoany mafy; Eny, niantso tao amin’ ny makarakara izy hoe: Nahoana no ela izato kalesiny vao tonga? Nahoana no mitaredretra ny kodian’ ny kalesiny?
His mother looked out at a window, and howled: and she spoke from the dining room: Why is his chariot so long in coming back? Why are the feet of his horses so slow?
29 Izay hendry tamin’ ny andriambaviny no namaly azy, eny, ny tenany aza namaly hoe:
One that was wiser than the rest of his wives, returned this answer to her mother in law:
30 Tsy efa mahita va izy? Tsy mizara babo va izy? Dia zazavavy iray na roa ho an’ ny isan-dahy, Ary lamba samy hafa volo ho babon’ i Sisera, Lamba roa samy hafa soratra ho eo am-bozon’ ny nahazo babo.
Perhaps he is now dividing the spoils, and the fairest of the women is chosen out for him: garments of divers colours are given to Sisara for his prey, and furniture of different kinds is heaped together to adorn the necks.
31 Ho levona tahaka izany anie ny fahavalonao rehetra, Jehovah ô; Fa aoka izay tia Azy kosa ho tahaka ny masoandro, raha miposaka amin’ ny heriny izy. Dia nandry ny tany efa-polo taona.
So let all thy enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love thee shine, as the sun shineth in his rising. And the land rested for forty years.
