1 Ary ny lehilahy amin’ ny Isiraely efa nianiana tany Mizpa nanao hoe: Aoka tsy hisy amintsika hanome ny zananivavy ho vadin’ ny Benjamita.
Moreouer, the men of Israel sware in Mizpeh, saying, None of vs shall giue his daughter vnto the Beniamites to wyfe.
2 Dia nankany Betela ny olona ka nitoetra teo anatrehan’ Andriamanitra mandra-paharivan’ ny andro, dia nanandratra ny feony ka nitomany mafy dia mafy
And the people came vnto ye house of God and abode there till euen before God, and lift vp their voyces, and wept with great lamentation,
3 nanao hoe: Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely ô, nahoana no tonga tamin’ ny Isiraely izao ankehitriny, ka fongotra ny firenena iray amin’ ny Isiraely?
And sayde, O Lord God of Israel, why is this come to passe in Israel, that this day one tribe of Israel should want?
4 Ary nony ampitson’ iny dia nifoha maraina koa ny olona ka nanorina alitara teo ary nanatitra fanatitra dorana sy fanati-pihavanana.
And on the morow the people rose vp and made there an altar, and offred burnt offrings and peace offrings.
5 Ary hoy ny Zanak’ Isiraely: Iza amin’ ny ferenen’ Isiraely rehetra no tsy niakatra teo amin’ ny fiangonana hanatona an’ i Jehovah? fa efa nisy fianianana lehibe ny amin’ izay tsy niakatra ho any amin’ i Jehovah tany Mizpa hoe: Hatao maty tokoa izy.
Then the children of Israel said, Who is he among all the tribes of Israel, that came not vp with the Congregation vnto the Lord? for they had made a great othe concerning him that came not vp to the Lord to Mizpeh, saying, Let him die the death.
6 Ary ny Zanak’ Isiraely nanenina ny amin’ i Benjamina rahalahiny ka nanao hoe: Misy firenena iray voafongotra eo amin’ ny Isiraely ankehitriny.
And the children of Israel were sory for Beniamin their brother, and said, There is one tribe cut off from Israel this day.
7 Ahoana no hataontsika amin’ ireo sisa hahazoany vady; fa isika efa nianiana tamin’ i Jehovah tsy hanome vady azy amin’ ny zanakavavintsika?
How shall we do for wiues to them that remaine, seeing we haue sworne by the Lord, that we will not giue them of our daughters to wiues?
8 Dia hoy izy: Iza amin’ ny firenen’ Isiraely no tsy mba niakatra ho any amin’ i Jehovah tany Mizpa? Ary, indro, tsy nisy olona avy tany Jebesi-gileada na dia iray akory aza nankany an-toby ho ao amin’ ny fiangonana.
Also they saide, Is there any of the tribes of Israel that came not vp to Mizpeh to the Lord? and beholde, there came none of Iabesh Gilead vnto the hoste and to the Congregation.
9 Fa rehefa voalamina ny olona, dia, indro, tsy nisy tao na dia iray akory aza avy tamin’ ny tompon-tany tany Jabesi-gileada.
For when the people were vewed; beholde, none of the inhabitants of Iabesh Gilead were there.
10 Dia naniraka lehilahy mahery roa arivo sy iray alin-dahy ny fiangonana ka nandidy azy hoe: Mandehana, ka mameleza ny mponina any Jabesi-gileada amin’ ny lelan-tsabatra mbamin’ ny zaza amim-behivavy.
Therefore the Congregation sent thither twelue thousande men of the most valiant, and commanded them, saying, Goe, and smite the inhabitants of Iabesh Gilead with the edge of the sword, both women, and children.
11 Ary izao no hataonareo: Ny lehilahy rehetra sy ny vehivavy rehetra izay efa nahalala lahy dia haringanareo.
And this is it that ye shall do: ye shall vtterly destroye all the males and all the women that haue lien by men.
12 Ary nahita zazavavy virijina efa-jato tsy mbola nahalala lahy teo amin’ ny mponina tany Jabesi-gileada izy ka nitondra ireo ho any an-toby tany Silo any amin’ ny tany Kanana.
And they found among the inhabitants of Iabesh Gilead foure hundreth maides, virgins that had knowne no man by lying with any male: and they brought them vnto the hoste to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan.
13 Ary ny fiangonana rehetra dia naniraka niteny tamin’ ny taranak’ i Benjamina, izay tao amin’ ny harambato tao Rimona, ka niantso azy hihavana aminy.
Then the whole Congregation sent and spake with the children of Beniamin that were in the rocke of Rimmon, and called peaceably vnto them:
14 Dia niverina tamin’ izany andro izany ny Benjamita, ka nomeny azy ireo vehivavy efa novelominy tamin’ ny vehivavy tao Jabesi-gileada ireo; kanjo mbola tsy nahenina azy ihany ireo.
And Beniamin came againe at that time, and they gaue them wiues which they had saued aliue of the women of Iabesh Gilead: but they had not so ynough for them.
15 Ary ny olona nanenina noho ny amin’ i Benjamina, satria nisy nobangain’ i Jehovah ny firenen’ Isiraely.
And the people were sorie for Beniamin, because the Lord had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.
16 Dia hoy ny loholon’ ny fiangonana: Ahoana no hataontsika ho an’ ireo sisa mba hahazoany vady, fa efa naringana ny vehivavy tamin’ ny Benjamita?
Therefore the Elders of the Congregation said, How shall we doe for wiues to the remnant? for the women of Beniamin are destroyed.
17 Ary hoy izy: Tsy maintsy mahazo lova ny Benjamita izay afa-nandositra, mba tsy hisy firenena iray fongotra amin’ ny Isiraely.
And they saide, there must be an inheritance for them that be escaped of Beniamin, that a tribe be not destroyed out of Israel.
18 Nefa isika tsy mahazo manome azy ny zanakavavintsika ho vadiny, satria efa nianiana ny Zanak’ Isiraely ka nanao hoe: Ho voaozona anie izay manome vady ho an’ ny Benjamita.
Howbeit we may not giue them wiues of our daughters: for the childre of Israel had sworne, saying, Cursed be he that giueth a wise to Beniamin.
19 Dia hoy izy: Indro, misy andro firavoravoana isan-taona ho an’ i Jehovah any Silo, izay avaratr’ i Betela, atsinanan’ ny lalambe miakatra avy any Betela hankany Sekema, ary atsimon’ i Lebona.
Therefore they said, Beholde, there is a feast of the Lord euery yere in Shiloh in a place, which is on the Northside of Beth-el, and on the Eastside of the way that goeth vp from Beth-el to Shechem, and on the South of Lebonah.
20 Ary nandidy ny taranak’ i Benjamina izy ka nanao hoe: Mandehana, ka manotreha any amin’ ny tanim-boaloboka,
Therefore they commanded the children of Beniamin, saying, Goe, and lye in waite in the vineyardes.
21 ka jereo, ka raha, indreo, mivoaka handihy ny zazavavy avy any Silo, dia mivoaha avy ao amin’ ny tanim-boaloboka ianareo, ary samia misambotra amin’ ny zazavavy avy any Silo ho vadiny avy, ka mandehana any amin’ ny tanin’ ny Benjamina indray.
And when ye see that the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catche you euery man a wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and goe into the land of Beniamin.
22 Ary raha mankany aminay hitaraina ny rainy na ny anadahiny, dia holazainay aminy hoe: Omeo anay ihany izy, fa izahay tsy mba nahazo vady tany amin’ ilay ady teo; fa tsy ianareo no nanome azy; fa raha izany, dia meloka ihany ianareo.
And when their fathers or their brethren come vnto vs to complaine, we wil say vnto them, Haue pitie on them for our sakes, because we reserued not to eche man his wife in the warre, and because ye haue not giuen vnto them hitherto, ye haue sinned.
23 Dia nanao izany ny taranak’ i Benjamina ka samy naka vady araka ny isany tamin’ ny mpandihy izay nosamboriny; dia nandeha izy ka niverina ho any amin’ ny lovany ary namboatra ireo tanàna ireo ka nonina tao.
And the children of Beniamin did so, and tooke wiues of them that danced according to their nomber: which they tooke, and went away, and returned to their inheritance, and repaired the cities and dwelt in them.
24 Dia samy nandeha niala teo ny Zanak’ Isiraely tamin’ izany andro izany, samy ho any amin’ ny fireneny sy ny fokony avy; dia niala teo ho any amin’ ny lovany avy ny olona rehetra.
So the children of Israel departed thence at that time, euery man to his tribe, and to his familie, and went out from thence euery man to his inheritance.
25 Tsy nisy mpanjaka teo amin’ ny Isiraely tamin’ izany andro izany; fa samy nanao izay nataony ho marina avy izy rehetra.
In those dayes there was no King in Israel, but euery man did that which was good in his eyes.
