1 Ary taorian’ i Abimeleka dia nitsangana hamonjy ny Isiraely Tola, zanak’ i Dodo, lehilahy avy tamin’ ny Isakara; ary mponina tao Samira any amin’ ny tany havoan’ i Efraima izy.
And after Abimelech there arose Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, to save Israel, and he dwelt in Shamir in the hill-country of Ephraim.
2 Ary nitsara ny Isiraely telo amby roa-polo taona izy, dia maty ka nalevina tao Samira.
And he judged Israel twenty-three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.
3 Ary nitsangana nandimby azy Jaïra Gileadita ka nitsara ny Isiraely roa amby roa-polo taona.
And after him arose Jair, the Gileadite, and he judged Israel twenty-two years.
4 Ary nanana zanakalahy telo-polo izay nitaingina zana-boriky telo-polo izy, ary izy ireo nanana tanàna telo-polo any amin’ ny tany Gileada; ary atao hoe Havota-jaïra mandraka androany ireo.
And he had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkey colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havvoth-jair to this day, which are in the land of Gilead.
5 Dia maty Jaïra ka nalevina tany Kamona.
And Jair died, and was buried in Kamon.
6 Ary ny Zanak’ Isiraely dia nanao izay ratsy eo imason’ i Jehovah indray ka nanompo ireo Bala sy Astarta sy ny andriamanitr’ i Syria sy ny andriamanitr’ i Sidona sy ny andriamanitr’ i Moaba sy ny andriamanitry ny taranak’ i Amona ary ny andriamanitry ny Filistina, dia nahafoy an’ i Jehovah izy ka tsy nanompo Azy.
And the sons of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and served the Baalim, and the Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Sidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the sons of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines. And they forsook Jehovah, and did not serve him.
7 Dia nirehitra tamin’ ny Isiraely ny fahatezeran’ i Jehovah, ka nivarotra azy ho eo an-tànan’ ny Filistina sy ho eo an-tànan’ ny taranak’ i Amona Izy.
And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the sons of Ammon.
8 Ary nampahory sy nanorotoro ny Zanak’ Isiraely ireo tamin’ izany taona izany: valo ambin’ ny folo taona no nampahoriany ny Zanak’ Isiraely rehetra, izay tany an-dafin’ i Jordana, tany amin’ ny tanin’ ny Amorita any Gileada.
And they vexed and oppressed the sons of Israel that year. Eighteen years they oppressed all the sons of Israel who were beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.
9 Ary nita an’ i Jordana ny taranak’ i Amona mba hiady koa amin’ ny Joda sy ny Benjamina ary ny taranak’ i Efraima; ka dia nahantra indrindra ny Isiraely.
And the sons of Ammon passed over the Jordan to also fight against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, so that Israel was exceedingly distressed.
10 Dia nitaraina tamin’ i Jehovah ny Zanak’ Isiraely ka nanao hoe: Efa nanota taminao izahay, satria efa nahafoy an’ Andriamanitray ka nanompo ireo Bala.
And the sons of Israel cried to Jehovah, saying, We have sinned against thee, even because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Baalim.
11 Ary hoy Jehovah tamin’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely: Moa tsy efa namonjy anareo tamin’ ny tanan’ ny Egyptiana sy ny Amorita sy ny taranak’ i Amona ary ny Filistina va Aho?
And Jehovah said to the sons of Israel, Did not I save you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the sons of Ammon, and from the Philistines?
12 Ary nampahory anareo koa ny Sidoniana sy ny Amalekita ary ny Maonita, ka nitaraina tamiko ianareo, dia novonjeko tamin’ ny tànany.
The Sidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, oppressed you. And ye cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand.
13 Nefa ianareo nahafoy Ahy ka nanompo andriamani-kafa; koa izany kosa no tsy hamonjeko anareo intsony.
Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods. Therefore I will save you no more.
14 Mandehana, ka mitaraina amin’ ireo andriamanitra efa nofidinareo; aoka ireo no hamonjy anareo amin’ ny andron’ ny fahantranareo.
Go and cry to the gods which ye have chosen. Let them save you in the time of your distress.
15 Ary hoy ny Zanak’ Isiraely tamin’ i Jehovah: Efa nanota izahay; ataovy aminay izay rehetra sitrakao; kanefa mba vonjeo ihany izahay anio.
And the sons of Israel said to Jehovah, We have sinned. Do thou to us whatever seems good to thee, only deliver us, we pray thee, this day.
16 Dia nanary ireo andriamani-kafa tao aminy izy ka nanompo an’ i Jehovah; dia tsy nahatsindry ny fanahiny intsony Jehovah noho ny fahantran’ ny Isiraely.
And they put away the foreign gods from among them, and served Jehovah. And his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
17 Dia nivory ny taranak’ i Amona ka nitoby tany Gileada. Ary nivory kosa ny Zanak’ Isiraely ka nitoby tany Mizpa.
Then the sons of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the sons of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah.
18 Dia nifampiera ny olona, dia ireo andrianan’ i Gileada, hoe: Iza no lehilahy handeha voalohany hiady amin’ ny taranak’ i Amona? dia ho lohany amin’ ny mponina rehetra any Gileada izy.
And the people, the rulers of Gilead, said one to another, What man is he who will begin to fight against the sons of Ammon? He shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
