< Josoa 4 >

1 Ary rehefa tafita an’ i Jordana avokoa ny olona rehetra, Jehovah dia niteny tamin’ i Josoa hoe:
And it came to pass, when all the people had finished passing over the Jordan, That the Lord said unto Joshua, as followeth,
2 Mangalà lehilahy roa ambin’ ny folo amin’ ny olona, dia iray avy isam-pirenena,
Take yourselves twelve men out of the people, one man each out of every tribe,
3 ka mandidia azy hoe: Makà vato roa ambin’ ny folo eo afovoan’ i Jordana eo amin’ ilay nijoroan’ ny tongotry ny mpisorona, dia ento miaraka aminareo, ka avelao eo amin’ izay handrianareo anio alina.
And command ye them, saying, Take yourselves hence out of the midst of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firmly, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging-place, where ye will lodge this night.
4 Dia nantsoin’ i Josoa ny lehilahy roa ambin’ ny folo, izay nofidiny tamin’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely dia iray avy isam-pirenena,
Then did Joshua call the twelve men, whom he had appointed out of the children of Israel, one man each out of every tribe:
5 ary hoy izy taminy: Mandehana eo alohan’ ny fiaran’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrareo ho eo afovoan’ i Jordana, ka samia manainga vato iray avy ho eny an-tsorony ianareo rehetra, araka ny isan’ ny firenen’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely,
And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the Lord your God into the midst of the Jordan, and take yourselves up every man one stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel;
6 mba ho famantarana eo aminareo izany, raha manontany ny zanakareo amin’ ny andro ho avy manao hoe: Inona no ataonareo ho anton’ ireo vato ireo?
In order that this may be a sign among you, when your children ask in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?
7 dia holazainareo aminy hoe: Tapaka ny rano Jordana teo anoloan’ ny fiaran’ ny faneken’ i Jehovah; fa raha nita an’ i Jordana ny fiara, dia tapaka ny rano; ary ireo vato ireo dia ho fahatsiarovana mandrakizay ho an’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely.
That ye shall answer them, That the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off; and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.
8 Dia nanao izany ny Zanak’ Isiraely araka izay nandidian’ i Josoa ka naka vato roa ambin’ ny folo teo afovoan’ i Jordana, araka izay nolazain’ i Jehovah tamin’ i Josoa, araka ny isan’ ny firenen’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely ka nentiny nita niaraka taminy ho eo amin’ izay nitobiany ka napetrany teo.
And the children of Israel did so as Joshua had commanded; and they took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as the Lord had spoken unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel; and they carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.
9 Ary vato roa ambin’ ny folo no natsangan’ i Josoa teo Jordana, teo amin’ ilay nijoroan’ ny tongotry ny mpisorona izay nitondra ny fiaran’ ny fanekena; ary mbola ao ihany ireny mandraka androany.
Twelve stones also did Joshua set up in the midst of the Jordan, on the spot where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant had stood: and they have remained there unto this day.
10 Fa ny mpisorona izay nitondra ny fiara nijanona teo afovoan’ i Jordana mandra-pahavitan’ ny zavatra rehetra izay nandidian’ i Jehovah an’ i Josoa holazaina amin’ ny olona, araka izay rehetra nandidian’ i Mosesy an’ i Josoa; dia nita faingana ny olona.
But the priests who bore the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan, until every thing was finished that the Lord had commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua; and the people hastened and passed over.
11 Ary rehefa tafita avokoa ny olona rehetra, dia nita koa ny fiaran’ i Jehovah sy ireo mpisorona teo anoloan’ ny olona.
And it came to pass, when all the people had finished passing over, that the ark of the Lord passed over with the priests in the presence of the people.
12 Ary ny taranak’ i Robena sy ny taranak’ i Gada ary ny antsasaky ny firenen’ i Manase dia samy efa voaomana hiady ka nita teo alohan’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely koa, araka izay efa nolazain’ i Mosesy taminy.
And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half tribe of Menasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses had spoken unto them:
13 Tokony ho lehilahy efatra alina efa voaomana hiady no nita teo anatrehan’ i Jehovah hanafika, ho eo amin’ ny tani-hay any Jeriko.
About forty thousand ready armed for war, did they pass over before the Lord unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.
14 Tamin’ izany andro izany no nanandratan’ i Jehovah an’ i Josoa teo imason’ ny Isiraely rehetra; ka dia natahotra azy ny olona, tahaka ny efa natahorany an’ i Mosesy, tamin’ ny andro rehetra niainany.
On that day the Lord made Joshua great in the eyes of all Israel; and they feared him, as they had feared Moses, all the days of his life.
15 Ary Jehovah niteny tamin’ i Josoa ka nanao hoe:
And the Lord said unto Joshua, as followeth,
16 Mandidia ny mpisorona izay mitondra ny fiaran’ ny Vavolombelona hiakatra hiala eo Jordana.
Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of the Jordan.
17 Dia nandidy ny mpisorona Josoa ka nanao hoe: Miakara hiala eo Jordana ianareo.
And Joshua commanded the priests, saying, Come ye up out of the Jordan.
18 Ary rehefa niakatra niala teo afovoan’ i Jordana ka nanainga ny faladiany ho eo amin’ ny tanety ireo mpisorona izay nitondra ny fiaran’ ny faneken’ i Jehovah ireo, dia avy indray ny rano Jordana nankamin’ ny fitoerany ka nihoatra ny morony rehetra tahaka ny teo aloha ihany.
And it came to pass, when the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord were come up out of the midst of the Jordan, the soles of the feet of the priests were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of the Jordan returned unto their place, and flowed over all its banks, as on the preceding days.
19 Ary ny olona niakatra niala teo Jordana tamin’ ny andro fahafolo tamin’ ny volana voalohany ka nitoby tany Gilgala, teo amin’ ny sisin-tany atsinanan’ i Jeriko.
And the people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, on the extreme eastern border of Jericho.
20 Ary ireny vato roa ambin’ ny folo nalainy teo Jordana ireny dia natsangan’ i Josoa tany Gilgala.
And those twelve stones, which they had taken out of the Jordan, did Joshua set up in Gilgal.
21 Dia niteny tamin’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely izy ka nanao hoe: Raha manontany ny rainy ny taranakareo any amin’ ny andro ho avy hoe: Inona no anton’ ireo vato ireo?
And he said unto the children of Israel, thus, When your children shall ask in time to come their fathers, saying, What mean these stones?
22 dia hambaranareo aminy hoe: Tamin’ ny tany maina no nitan’ ny Isiraely ity Jordana ity.
Then shall ye let your children know, saying, On dry land did Israel pass over this Jordan;
23 Fa nataon’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrareo maina ny falehan’ ny rano Jordana teo anoloanareo mandra-pitanareo, dia tahaka ny nataon’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrareo tamin’ ny Ranomasina Mena, izay nataony maina teo anoloantsika mandra-pitantsika,
That the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over;
24 mba ho fantatry ny firenena rehetra ambonin’ ny tany fa mahery ny tànan’ i Jehovah, ary mba hatahorany an’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrareo mandrakizay.
In order that all the nations of the earth may know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty; in order that ye may fear the Lord your God all the days.
