< Josoa 15 >
1 Ary izao no anjaran’ ny firenena taranak’ i Joda tamin’ ny filokana araka ny fokony: hatramin’ ny fari-tanin’ i Edoma dia ny efitra Zina atsimo, izay faran’ ny faritany atsimo.
This was the land allotted to the tribe of Judah, by families: it stretched south to the border of Edom, to the wilderness of Zin in the far south.
2 Ary ny fari-taniny atsimo dia hatramin’ ny faran’ ny Ranomasin-tsira, dia hatramin’ ny helo-drano atsimo,
Their boundary began at the end of the Salt Sea—the bay that faces south—
3 dia nandroso hatrany atsimon’ ny fiakarana Akrabima, dia nandroso hatrany Zina, dia niakatra any atsimon’ i Kadesi-barnea ka nandroso hatrany Hezrona dia niakatra any Adara ary niolaka hatrany Karka,
and then went south of Scorpion Pass through the wilderness of Zin, then heading south from Kadesh-barnea to Hezron. From there it went up to Addar and then turned towards Karka,
4 dia nandroso hatrany Azmona ka nahazo ny lohasahan-driak’ i Egypta, ary dia nihatra tamin’ ny ranomasina; izany no ho fari-taninareo atsimo.
passing through Azmon and out to the Wadi of Egypt, ending at the sea. This was their southern border.
5 Ary ny fari-tany atsinanana dia ny Ranomasin-tsira hatramin’ ny faran’ i Jordana. Ary ny fari-taniny tamin’ ny lafiny avaratra dia hatramin’ ny helo-drano eo amin’ ny faran’ i Jordana,
The eastern border of Judah was the Salt Sea, up to where the Jordan River ends. The northern boundary ran from the northern bay of the sea where the Jordan ends
6 dia niakatra hatrany Beti-hogla ka nandroso any avaratr’ i Bet-araba, dia niakatra hatramin’ ny vaton’ i Bohana, zanak’ i Robena,
up to the border of Beth-hoglath, and then north of Beth-arabah to the Stone of Bohan (Reuben's son).
7 dia niakatra ho any Debira hatramin’ ny lohasaha Akora ary nianavaratra manandrify an’ i Gilgala tandrifin’ ny fiakarana Adomina, izay eo atsimon’ ny lohasahan-driaka, dia nandroso hatramin’ ny rano Ensemesy ary nihatra tany En-rogela,
From there it went to the border of Debir through the valley of Achor, and turned north towards Gilgal, opposite the heights of Adummim to the south of the valley. Then the boundary continued to the waters of En-shemesh and out to En-rogel.
8 dia niakatra teo amin’ ny lohasahan’ ny taranak’ i Hinoma, ho eo anilany atsimon’ ny Jebosita (Jerosalema izany), dia niakatra hatramin’ ny tampon’ ny tendrombohitra, izay manandrify ny lohasahan’ i Hinoma eo andrefany, amin’ ny farany avaratry ny Lohasahan’ ny Refaïta,
The boundary then went through the valley of Ben-hinnom, along the southern slopes of the Jebusites, (that is Jerusalem), then on up to the top of the mountain overlooking the valley of Hinnom right up to the northern end of the valley of Rephaim.
9 dia nizotra hatramin’ ny tampon’ ny tendrombohitra ka nihatra tamin’ ny loharano Neftoa, dia nahazo ny tanàna tao an-tendrombohitra Efrona, dia nizotra hatrany Bala (Kiriata-jearima izany),
From there the boundary ran from the top of the mountain to the water spring at Nephtoah and on to the towns on Mount Ephron. Then it bent towards Ballah (Kiriath-jearim).
10 dia niolaka hatrany Bala andrefana ka hatramin’ ny tendrombohitra Seïra ka nandroso hatramin’ ny ilany avaratry ny tendrombohitra Jearima (Kesalona izany), dia nidina hatrany Beti-semesy ka nandroso hatrany Timna.
Then the boundary moved around to the west of Baalah to Mount Seir and passed along the northern slope of Mount Jearim to the town of Kesalon, down to Beth Shemesh and on to Timnah.
11 dia nihatra tamin’ ny lafiny avaratr’ i Ekrona, dia nizotra hatrany Sikerona ka nandroso hatramin’ ny tendrombohitra Bala, dia nihatra tamin’ i Jabniela, ary dia nihatra tany amin’ ny ranomasina.
The boundary then ran to the north slope of Ekron, and bent towards Shikkeron, passing Mount Baalah, out to Jabneel, and ending at the sea.
12 Ary ny fari-tany andrefana dia ny moron’ ny Ranomasina Lehibe. Izany no fari-tany manodidina ny anjaran’ ny taranak’ i Joda araka ny fokony.
The western boundary was the coastline of the Great Sea. These were the boundaries around the tribe of Judah, by families.
13 Ary Kaleba, zanak’ i Jefone, dia nomeny anjara teo amin’ ny taranak’ i Joda, araka ny didin’ i Jehovah tamin’ i Josoa, dia ny tanànan’ i Arba, rain’ i Anàka (Hebrona izany).
The Lord had instructed Joshua to allocate some land in Judah's territory to Caleb, son of Jephunneh, and so he was given the town of Kiriath-arba, or Hebron. (Arba was the father of Anak.)
14 Dia noroahin’ i Kaleba niala tao izy telo lahy, taranaky ny Anakita, dia Sesay sy Ahimana ary Talmay.
Caleb drove out three family groups—Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, descendants of Anak.
15 Dia niakatra avy tao izy hankany amin’ ny mponina any Debira (Kiriata-sefera no anaran’ i Debira taloha).
From there he went to attack the inhabitants of Debir (previously known as Kiriath-sepher).
16 Ary hoy Kaleba: Izay mamely an’ i Kiriata-sefera ka mahafaka azy, dia homeko azy Aksa zanako-vavy ho vadiny.
Caleb announced, “Whoever attacks Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give him my daughter Acsah to marry.”
17 Ary Otniela, zanak’ i Kenaza, rahalahin’ i Kaleba, no nahafaka azy; ka dia nomeny azy Aksa zananivavy ho vadiny.
Othniel, son of Kenaz, brother of Caleb, captured the town so Caleb gave him his daughter Acsah to marry.
18 Ary rehefa voampakatra ravehivavy, dia nanome vava ny lahy hangataka saha tamin-drainy; dia niala faingana tamin’ ny borikiny ravehivavy, ka hoy Kaleba taminy: Inona no ilainao?
When she came to him, she encouraged him to ask her father for a field. When she got off her donkey, Caleb asked her, “What do you want?”
19 Ary hoy izy: Omeo tso-drano aho; fa tsy tany misy rano no efa nomenao ahy, ka mba omeo loharano koa aho. Dia nomeny azy ny loharano ambony sy ny loharano ambany.
She replied, “Please give me a blessing. Since you have already given me land that's like the desert, please give me springs of water as well.” So he gave her both the upper and the lower springs.
