1 Ary rehefa afaka izany, dia nandeha tany Galilia Jesosy; fa nalain-kandeha tany Jodia Izy, satria nitady hahafaty Azy ny Jiosy.
After these things, Jesus was walking in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judea, because the Jewish leaders sought to kill him.
2 Ary efa akaiky ny andro firavoravoan’ ny Jiosy, dia ny amin’ ny Tabernakely,
Now the Jewish festival, the Feast of Tabernacles, was near.
3 ka hoy ny rahalahiny taminy: Mialà eto, ka mandehana ho any Jodia, mba ho hitan’ ny mpianatrao koa ny asa izay ataonao;
So his brothers said to him, "Depart from here, and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see your works that you are doing.
4 fa tsy misy olona manao zavatra amin’ ny takona, nefa ny tenany mitady ho hita miharihary; raha manao izany zavatra izany Hianao, dia misehoa amin’ izao tontolo izao.
For no one does anything in secret when he himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world."
5 Fa na dia ny rahalahiny aza tsy nino Azy.
For even his brothers did not believe in him.
6 Dia hoy Jesosy taminy: Tsy mbola tonga ny fotoako; fa ny fotoanareo dia vonona lalandava.
Jesus therefore said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
7 Tsy mahazo mankahala anareo izao tontolo izao; fa Izaho no halany, satria milaza fa ratsy ny asany.
The world cannot hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about it, that its works are evil.
8 Miakara ho amin’ ny andro firavoravoana ianareo; fa Izaho tsy mbola miakatra ho amin’ ity andro firavoravoana ity; satria tsy mbola tonga ny fotoako.
You go up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because my time is not yet fulfilled."
9 Ary rehefa nilaza izany teny izany taminy Izy, dia mbola nitoetra tany Galilia ihany.
After he had said this, he stayed in Galilee.
10 Fa rehefa lasa niakatra ho amin’ ny andro firavoravoana ny rahalahiny, dia niakatra koa Izy, nefa tsy mba nisehoseho, fa toa niafinafina.
But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.
11 Ary ny Jiosy dia nitady Azy tamin’ ny andro firavoravoana ka nanao hoe: Aiza Izy?
The Jewish leaders therefore sought him at the feast, and said, "Where is he?"
12 Ary nitakoritsika Azy be ihany ny vahoaka. Hoy ny sasany: Tsara fanahy Izy; fa hoy kosa ny sasany; Tsia; fa mamitaka ny vahoaka Izy.
There was much murmuring among the crowds concerning him. Some said, "He is a good man." But others said, "Not so, but he leads the crowd astray."
13 Nefa tsy nisy sahy niresaka Azy miharihary noho ny fahatahorany ny Jiosy.
Yet no one spoke openly of him for fear of the Jewish leaders.
14 Ary rehefa nisasaka ny andro firavoravoana, dia niakatra teo an-kianjan’ ny tempoly Jesosy ka nampianatra.
But when it was now the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
15 Dia gaga ny Jiosy ka nanao hoe: Ahoana no nahaizan’ ilehity soratra, nefa tsy mba nianatra Izy?
Then the Jewish leaders were astonished, saying, "How does this man know such writings, having never been educated?"
16 Dia namaly azy Jesosy ka nanao hoe: Tsy Ahy ny fampianarako, fa an’ izay naniraka Ahy.
Jesus therefore answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.
17 Raha misy olona ta-hanao ny sitrapony, dia hahalala ny amin’ ny fampianarana izy, na avy amin’ Andriamanitra izany, na miteny ho Ahy Aho.
If anyone desires to do his will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is from God, or if I am speaking from myself.
18 Izay miteny ho azy dia mitady ny voninahitry ny tenany; fa izay mitady ny voninahitr’ izay naniraka azy no marina, ary tsy misy tsi-fahamarinana ao aminy.
He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
19 Tsy Mosesy va no nanome anareo ny lalàna? nefa tsy misy eo aminareo mankatò ny lalàna. Nahoana ianareo no mitady hamono Ahy?
Did not Moses give you the Law, and yet none of you keeps the Law? Why do you seek to kill me?"
20 Ny vahoaka namaly hoe: Manana demonia Hianao; iza no mitady hamono Anao?
The crowd answered, "You have a demon. Who seeks to kill you?"
21 Jesosy namaly ka nanao taminy hoe: Asa iray loha ihany no nataoko, ka gaga avokoa ianareo rehetra.
Jesus answered them, "I did one work, and you are all amazed.
22 Izao no nanomezan’ i Mosesy anareo ny famorana: tsy noho izy avy tamin’ i Mosesy, fa noho izy avy tamin’ ny razana, ka na dia amin’ ny Sabata aza dia mamora olona ihany ianareo.
Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a boy.
23 Raha amin’ ny Sabata aza no amorana olona, mba tsy hahafoana ny lalàn’ i Mosesy, dia tezitra amiko va ianareo, satria nisy olona anankiray nataoko sitrana avokoa ny tenany rehetra tamin’ ny Sabata.
If a boy receives circumcision on the Sabbath, that the Law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me, because I made a man completely healthy on the Sabbath?
24 Aza mitsara araka ny miseho, fa mba mitsarà marina.
Do not judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
25 Ary ny mponina sasany tany Jerosalema dia nanao hoe: Tsy Ilehity va Ilay tadiaviny hovonoina?
Therefore some of them of Jerusalem said, "Is not this he whom they seek to kill?
26 Ary indro Izy miteny miharihary, nefa tsy misy miteny Azy akory. Sao efa fantatry ny mpanapaka anie fa Io no Kristy?
Look, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Can it be that the rulers indeed know that this is the Christ?
27 Nefa fantatsika izay nihavian’ ilehio, fa raha avy Kristy, tsy misy mahalala izay hihaviany.
However we know where this man comes from, but when the Christ comes, no one will know where he comes from."
28 Dia niantso teo an-kianjan’ ny tempoly Jesosy, raha nampianatra, ka nanao hoe: Izaho dia fantatrareo, sady fantatrareo koa izay nihaviako; ary tsy avy ho Ahy Aho, fa marina ny naniraka Ahy, Izay tsy fantatrareo.
Jesus therefore called out in the temple, teaching and saying, "You both know me, and know where I am from. I have not come of myself, but he who sent me is true, whom you do not know.
29 Izaho mahalala Azy; fa Izy no nihaviako, ka Izy no naniraka Ahy.
I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me."
30 Dia nitady hisambotra Azy ny olona; kanefa tsy nisy naninji-tanana taminy, satria tsy mbola tonga ny fotoany.
They sought therefore to take him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.
31 Ary maro ny vahoaka no nino Azy ka nanao hoe: Raha tonga Kristy, moa hanao famantarana maro mihoatra noho ny nataon’ ity Lehilahy ity va Izy?
But many in the crowd believed in him. They said, "When the Christ comes, he won't do more signs than those which this man has done, will he?"
32 Ny Fariseo nandre ny vahoaka nitakoritsika izany zavatra izany ny aminy; ary ny lohan’ ny mpisorona sy ny Fariseo dia naniraka mpiandry raharaha mba hisambotra Azy.
The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.
33 Dia hoy Jesosy: Kely foana no itoerako aminareo, dia hankany amin’ izay naniraka Ahy Aho.
Then Jesus said, "I will be with you a little while longer, then I go to him who sent me.
34 Hitady Ahy ianareo, fa tsy hahita; ary izay itoerako dia tsy azonareo haleha.
You will seek me, but won't find; and where I am, you cannot come."
35 Dia niresaka hoe ny Jiosy: Hankaiza moa no halehan’ ilehity, no tsy ho hitantsika? Hankany amin’ izay miely any amin’ ny Grika va Izy ka hampianatra ny Grika?
The Jewish leaders therefore said among themselves, "Where will this man go that we won't find him? Will he go to the Diaspora among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
36 Ahoana re izao teny nolazainy izao hoe: Hitady Ahy ianareo, fa tsy hahita; ary izay itoerako tsy azonareo haleha?
What is this word that he said, 'You will seek me, but won't find; and where I am, you cannot come'?"
37 Ary tamin’ ny andro farany, izay andro lehibe tamin’ ny andro firavoravoana, dia nitsangana Jesosy ka niantso nanao hoe: Raha misy olona mangetaheta, aoka izy hanatona Ahy ka hisotro.
Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.
38 Izay mino Ahy, dia hisy onin’ ny rano velona miboiboika avy ao an-kibony, araka ny voalazan’ ny Soratra Masìna.
He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water."
39 Ary ny Fanahy, Izay efa horaisin’ ny mino Azy, no nolazainy tamin’ izany; fa ny Fanahy tsy mbola nomena, satria Jesosy tsy mbola niditra tamin’ ny voninahiny.
But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
40 Ary ny sasany tamin’ ny vahoaka, raha nandre izany teny izany, dia nanao hoe: Ity tokoa no Ilay Mpaminany.
Some of the crowd therefore, when they heard these words, said, "This is truly the Prophet."
41 Hoy ny sasany: Ity no Kristy. Fa hoy kosa ny sasany: Avy any Galilia va no ihavian’ i Kristy?
Others said, "This is the Christ." But some said, "What, does the Christ come out of Galilee?
42 Tsy voalazan’ ny Soratra Masìna va fa Kristy dia avy amin’ ny taranak’ i Davida, sady avy ao Betlehema, vohitra nonenan’ i Davida?
Hasn't the Scripture said that the Christ comes of the offspring of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"
43 Dia nisara-tsaina ny amin’ i Jesosy ny vahoaka.
So there arose a division in the crowd because of him.
44 Ary ny sasany nitady hisambotra Azy; kanefa tsy nisy naninji-tanana taminy.
Some of them would have arrested him, but no one laid hands on him.
45 Ary ny mpiandry raharaha nankeo amin’ ny lohan’ ny mpisorona sy ny Fariseo, ka hoy izy ireo taminy: Nahoana ianareo no tsy nitondra Azy?
The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, "Why did you not bring him?"
46 Ny mpiandry raharaha namaly hoe: Tsy mbola nisy olona niteny tahaka izany.
The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this man."
47 Ary ny Fariseo namaly azy hoe: Hianareo koa va voafitaka?
The Pharisees therefore answered them, "You are not also led astray, are you?
48 Moa misy mpanapaka na Fariseo mba nino Azy?
Have any of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees?
49 Fa voaozona ireto vahoaka ireto, izay tsy mahalala ny lalàna.
But this crowd that does not know the Law is accursed."
50 Ary Nikodemosy, anankiray teo aminy, dia ilay nankeo amin’ i Jesosy teo aloha, dia nanao taminy hoe:
Nicodemus (he who came to him before, being one of them) said to them,
51 Moa manameloka olona va ny lalàntsika, raha tsy mbola mihaino azy aloha ka mahafantatra izay nataony?
"Does our Law judge a man, unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?"
52 Izy ireo namaly ka nanao taminy hoe: Hianao koa angaha mba avy any Galilia? Diniho, dia ho hitanao fa tsy mba misy mpaminany avy any Galilia.
They answered him, "Are you also from Galilee? Search, and see that no prophet comes from Galilee."
53 [Dia samy lasa nody ho any an-tranony avy izy rehetra;
Then everyone went to his own house,
