< Joela 1 >
1 Ny tenin’ i Jehovah, izay tonga tamin’ i Joela, zanak’ i Petoela.
The word of the Lord which came to Joel the son of Bathuel.
2 Henoy izao, ry anti-panahy! Ary mandrenesa, ianareo mponina rehetra amin’ ny tany! Moa mba efa nisy tamin’ ny andronareo na tamin’ ny andron’ ny razanareo, va izao?
Hear these [words], you elders, and listen all you that inhabit the land. Have such things happen in your days, or in the days of your fathers?
3 Lazao amin’ ny zanakareo izao, ary aoka ny zanakareo hilaza amin’ ny zanany kosa, ary ny zanak’ ireo kosa indray amin’ ny taranaka mandimby azy.
Tell your children concerning them, and [let] your children [tell] their children, and their children another generation.
4 Izay sisan’ ny kijeja dia nohanin’ ny koraika; Ary izay sisan’ ny koraika dia nohanin’ ny valalavao: Ary izay sisan’ ny valalavao dia nohanin’ ny sompanga.
The leavings of the caterpillar has the locust eaten, and the leavings of the locust has the palmerworm eaten, and the leavings of the palmerworm has the cankerworm eaten.
5 Mifohaza, ianareo mpimamo, ka mitomania, eny, midradradradrà, ianareo mpisotro divay rehetra, noho ny ranom-boaloboka, satria tapaka tsy ho amin’ ny vavanareo izany.
Awake, you drunkards, from your wine, and weep: mourn, all you that drink wine to drunkenness: for joy and gladness and removed are from your mouth.
6 Fa misy firenena mahery sady tsy hita isa miakatra hamely ny taniko; Ny nifiny dia nifin-diona, ary ny vazany dia vazan’ ny liom-bavy.
For a strong and innumerable nation is come up against my land, their teeth are lion's teeth, and their back teeth those of a [lion's] whelp.
7 Nataony simba tokoa ny voaloboko, ary notapatapahiny ny aviaviko; Nataony nakiky tokoa ireny ka nariany, eny, tonga fotsy ny rantsany.
He has ruined my vine, and utterly broken my fig-trees: he has utterly searched [my vine], and cast it down; he has peeled its branches.
8 Midradradradrà toy ny virijina misikindamba fisaonana noho ny amin’ ny vadin’ ny fahatanorany.
Lament to me more than a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.
9 Efa tapaka tsy ho ao amin’ ny tranon’ i Jehovah ny fanatitra hohanina sy ny fanatitra aidina; Mitomany ny mpisorona, mpanao fanompoam-pivavahana ho an’ i Jehovah.
The meat-offering and drink-offering are removed from the house of the Lord: mourn, you priests that serve at the altar of the Lord.
10 Mariry ny saha, misaona ny tany fambolena; Fa simba ny vary, ritra ny ranom-boaloboka, mihena ny diloilo.
For the plains languish: let the land mourn, for the corn languishes; the wine is dried up, the oil becomes scarce;
11 Aoka ho menatra ianareo mpiasa tany; midradradradrà, ianareo mpamboatra tanim-boaloboka, noho ny vary tritika sy ny vary hordea; Fa majifa ny vokatry ny saha;
the husbandmen are consumed: mourn your property on account of the wheat and barley; for the harvest has perished from off the field.
12 Maina ny voaloboka, malazo ny aviavy, ary malazo koa ny ampongabendanitra sy ny rofia ary ny poma aza, dia ny hazo rehetra any an-tsaha; Eny, malazo ny fifalian’ ny zanak’ olombelona.
The vine is dried up, and the fig-trees are become few; the pomegranate, and palm tree, and apple, and all trees of the field are dried up: for the sons of men have have abolished joy.
13 Misikìna sy mitomania, ianareo mpisorona; midradradradrà, ianareo mpanao fanompoam-pivavahana eo amin’ ny alitara; Andeha mandry amin’ ny lamba fisaonana mandritra ny alina, ianareo mpanao fanompoam-pivavahana ho an’ Andriamanitro, fa tapaka tsy ho ao amin’ ny tranon’ Andriamanitra ny fanatitra hohanina sy ny fanatitra aidina.
Gird yourselves [with sackcloth], and lament, you priests: mourn, you that serve at the altar: go in, sleep in sackcloths, you that minister to God: for the meat-offering and drink-offering are withheld from the house of your God.
14 Manamasìna andro fifadian-kanina, miantsoa fivoriana masìna, angòny ny loholona sy ny mponina rehetra amin’ ny tany ho ao an-tranon’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrareo, koa andeha mitaraina amin’ i Jehovah.
Sanctify a fast, proclaim a [solemn] service, gather the elders [and] all the inhabitants of the land into the house of your God, and cry earnestly to the Lord,
15 Indrisy ny andro! Fa efa antomotra ny andron’ i Jehovah, ka tahaka ny loza tsy toha avy amin’ ny Tsitoha no fihaviny.
Alas, Alas, Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is near, and it will come as trouble upon trouble.
16 Moa tsy efa tapaka teo imasontsika va ny hanina, eny, ny fifaliana sy ny faharavoravoana tsy ho ao an-tranon’ Andriamanitsika?
[Your] meat has been destroyed before your eyes, joy and gladness from out of the house of your God.
17 Matimaso ao ambanin’ ny baingan-tany ny vary nafafy, foana ny sompitra, mirodana ny trano fitehirizam-bary; Fa nalazo ny vary.
The heifers have started at their mangers, the treasures are abolished, the wine presses are broken down; for the corn is withered.
18 Indrisy, ny fitoreon’ ny biby! Very hevitra ny omby andiany, satria tsy misy ahitra ho azy; Eny, na dia ny andian’ ny ondry aman’ osy aza dia mijaly noho ny heloka.
What shall we store up for ourselves? the herds of cattle have mourned, because they had no pasture; and the flocks of sheep have been utterly destroyed.
19 Jehovah ô, Hianao no itarainako, fa efa levon’ ny afo ny kijana any an-efitra, ary nisy lelafo efa nandoro ny hazo rehetra any an-tsaha.
To you, O Lord, will I cry: for fire has devoured the fair places of the wilderness, and a flame has burnt up all the trees of the field.
20 Na dia ny biby any an-tsaha aza dia mihanahana miandrandra Anao, satria ritra ny renirano, ary efa levon’ ny afo ny kijana any an-efitra.
And the cattle of the field have looked up to you: for the fountains of waters have been dried up, and fire has devoured the fair places of the wilderness.
