1 Dia namaly Bildada Sohita ka nanao hoe:
Then responded Bildad the Shuhite, and said: —
2 Mandra-pahoviana no hiteny toy izany ianao, ka ho rivotra mahery ny teny aloaky ny vavanao?
How long wilt thou speak these things? Or, as a mighty wind, shall be the sayings of thy mouth?
3 Andriamanitra va hamadika ny fitsarana, na ny Tsitoha hamadika ny rariny?
Should, GOD, pervert justice? Or, the Almighty, pervert righteousness?
4 Raha nanota taminy ny zanakao, dia efa nampanodiaviny azy ny fahadisoany.
Though, thy children, sinned against him, and he delivered them into the hand of their transgression,
5 Fa raha ianao kosa mandroso mitady an’ Andriamanitra ka mifona amin’ ny Tsitoha.
Yet, if, thou thyself, wilt diligently seek unto GOD, —and, unto the Almighty, wilt make supplication;
6 Ary raha madio sy mahitsy ianao, dia hifoha hamonjy anao tokoa Izy ary hampiadana indray ny fonenan’ ny fahamarinanao,
If, pure and upright, thou thyself, art, surely, now, will he answer thy prayer, and will prosper thy righteous habitation:
7 Ka na dia kely aza no niandohanao, dia ho lehibe indrindra no hiafaranao.
So shall thy beginning appear small, —when, thy latter end, he shall greatly increase!
8 Fa masìna ianao, anontanio ange ny ntaolo, ka fantaro ny hevitra hitan’ ny razany
For inquire, I pray thee, of a former generation, and prepare thyself for the research of their fathers; —
9 (Fa vao omaly isika ka tsy mba mahalala, fa aloka ihany ny androntsika etỳ ambonin’ ny tany);
For, of yesterday, are, we, and cannot know, for, a shadow, are our days upon earth:
10 Tsy ireny va no hampianatra anao ka hilaza aminao ary hamoaka teny avy ao am-pony?
Shall, they, not teach thee—tell thee, and, out of their memory, bring forth words?
11 Haniry va ny zozoro, raha tsy eny amin’ ny fotaka? Hitrebona va ny harefo, raha tsy misy rano?
Can the paper-reed grow up, without a marsh? Or the rush grow up, without water?
12 Mbola maitso izy sady tsy voajinja, kanefa malazo alohan’ ny zava-maitso rehetra.
Though while still, in its freshness, it be not plucked off, yet, before any kind of grass, it doth wither:
13 Toy izany no lalan’ izay rehetra manadino an’ Andriamanitra; Ary ho very ny fanantenan’ ny mpihatsaravelatsihy,
So, shall be the latter end of all who forget GOD, and, the hope of the impious, shall perish:
14 Fa ho maito ny fanantenany, eny, ho tranon-kala ny tokiny.
Whose trust shall be contemptible, —and, a spider’s web, his confidence:
15 Miankina amin’ ny tranony izy, kanjo tsy maharitra iny; Mihazona azy mafy izy, kanjo tsy mahazaka azy iny.
He leaneth upon his house, and it will not stand, he holdeth it fast, and it will not remain erect.
16 Mitsimoka tsara tandrifin’ ny masoandro izy, ary ny rantsany misandrahaka eo amin’ ny tanimboliny;
Full of moisture he is, before the sun, and, over his garden, his shoot goeth forth:
17 Mifelipelika mifaniditra eo amin’ ny korontam-bato ny fakany ary mahazo any anelanelany;
Over a heap, his roots are entwined, a place of stones, he descrieth;
18 Kanjo nony fongorany hiala amin’ ny fitoerany izy, dia handà azy izany ka hanao hoe: Tsy mbola nahita anao akory aho.
If one destroy him out of his place, then will it disown him [saying] —I have not seen thee.
19 Indro, izany ihany no fifalian’ ny lalan-kalehany; ary hisy hafa indray mitrebona avy amin’ ny vovoka.
Lo! that, is the joy of his way, —and, out of the dust, shall others spring up.
20 Indro, Andriamanitra tsy hanary ny olona tsy manan-tsiny ary tsy hitantana ny mpanao ratsy;
Lo! GOD, will not reject a blameless man, neither will he grasp the hand of evil-doers:
21 Mbola hofenoiny hehy ny vavanao sy hoby ny molotrao.
At length he shall fill with laughter thy mouth, and thy lips, with a shout of triumph:
22 Izay mankahala anao hitafy henatra; Ary tsy hisy intsony ny lain’ ny ratsy fanahy.
They who hate thee, shall be clothed with shame, but, the tent of the lawless, shall not be!
