1 Fa misy tany fihadiana volafotsy, ary misy tany fahazoana volamena, izay diovina.
Surely there is a vein for the silver, and a place for gold which they refine;
2 Ny vy dia alaina avy amin’ ny tany, ary ny varahina arendrika avy amin’ ny vato.
Iron is taken out of the dust, and copper is molten out of the stone.
3 Ny mpihady vola mampisava ny maizina ka mizaha hatramin’ ny faran’ ny zavatra rehetra ao, dia ny vaton’ ny aizim-pito sy ny aloky ny fahafatesana;
[Man] putteth an end to the darkness, and exploreth to the utmost limit, the stones of darkness and of the shadow of death.
4 Mihady lavaka mihalavitra amin’ izay itoeran’ olona izy ka tsy ampoizin’ ny tongotra akory, ary mihantona sy mitsingevaheva any ambany lavitra ny olona izy.
He openeth a shaft far from the inhabitants [of the earth]: forgotten of the foot, they hang suspended; away below men they hover.
5 Ny tany no ihavian’ ny hanina; Ary ny ao ambaniny dia avadika tahaka ny afo.
As for the earth, out of it cometh bread, and underneath it is turned up as by fire;
6 Fitoeran’ ny safira ny vatony, ary misy akoram-bolamena ao aminy
The stones of it are the place of sapphires, and it hath dust of gold.
7 Làlana tsy fantatry ny vorona mpihaza ary tsy hitan’ ny mason’ ny voromahery,
It is a path no bird of prey knoweth, and the vulture's eye hath not seen it;
8 Sady tsy nodiavin’ ny zanaky ny bibi-dia ary tsy mba nalehan’ ny liona masiaka.
The proud beasts have not trodden it, nor the fierce lion passed over it.
9 Maninjitra ny tànany amin’ ny vatokaranana ireo ary mamadika ny tendrombohitra hatramin’ ny fotony;
[Man] putteth forth his hand upon the flinty rock, he overturneth the mountains by the root.
10 Ny vatolampy tatahany hatao lalan-drano, ary izay zava-tsoa rehetra dia hitan’ ny masony avokoa.
He cutteth out channels in the rocks, and his eye seeth every precious thing.
11 Tampenany ny lalan-drano mba tsy hisy mitete. Ary izay zava-miafina dia avoakany ho amin’ ny mazava.
He bindeth the streams that they drip not, and what is hidden he bringeth forth to light.
12 Fa aiza kosa no hahitana ny fahendrena? ary aiza no fitoeran’ ny fahalalana?
But wisdom, where shall it be found? and where is the place of understanding?
13 Tsy misy zanak’ olombelona mahalala ny vidiny, ary tsy hita eo amin’ ny tanin’ ny velona izy.
Man knoweth not the value thereof; and it is not found in the land of the living.
14 Hoy ny lalina: Tsy ato anatiko izy; Ary, tsy ato amiko izy, hoy ny ranomasina.
The deep saith, It is not in me; and the sea saith, It is not with me.
15 Ny volamena tsara tsy mahatakalo azy, ary ny volafotsy tsy azo lanjaina ho vidiny;
Choice gold cannot be given for it, nor silver be weighed for its price.
16 Ny volamena avy any Ofira tsy ampy ho tombany, na ny beryla saro-bidy sy ny safira aza.
It is not set in the balance with gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, and the sapphire.
17 Ny volamena sy ny fitaratra tsy azo ampitahaina aminy, ary tsy azo takalozana firavaka tena volamena izy.
Gold and glass cannot be compared to it, nor vessels of fine gold be its exchange.
18 Tsy tokony hotsaroana akory ny voahangy sy ny vato krystaly, fa ny fahazoana fahendrena dia mihoatra noho ny voahangy.
Corals and crystal are no more remembered; yea, the acquisition of wisdom is above rubies.
19 Ny topaza avy any Etiopia dia tsy azo ampitahaina aminy, ary tsy mahatakalo azy ny tena volamena tsara
The topaz of Ethiopia shall not be compared to it, neither shall it be set in the balance with pure gold.
20 Dia avy aiza ary ny fahendrena? Ary aiza no fitoeran’ ny fahalalana?
Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?
21 Miafina amin’ ny mason’ ny velona rehetra izany ary takona amin’ ny voro-manidina.
For it is hidden from the eyes of all living, and concealed from the fowl of the heavens.
22 Hoy Abadona sy Ifahafatesana: Ny sofinay ihany no nandrenesany ny filazana azy.
Destruction and death say, We have heard its report with our ears.
23 Andriamanitra ihany no mahalala ny lalana ho any aminy, ary Izy no mahafantatra ny itoerany;
God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth its place:
24 Fa Izy no mitsinjo hatramin’ ny faran’ ny tany ary mahatazana manerana izao ambanin’ ny lanitra rehetra izao,
For he looketh to the ends of the earth, he seeth under the whole heaven.
25 Ka manendry ny lanjan’ ny rivotra ary mamatra ny rano amin’ ny famarana.
In making a weight for the wind, and meting out the waters by measure,
26 Raha nanao lalana ho an’ ny ranonorana Izy sy lalana halehan’ ny helatry ny kotrokorana,
In appointing a statute for the rain, and a way for the thunder's flash:
27 Dia nahita ka nanambara azy Izy; Eny, nanorina azy Izy sady namantatra azy;
Then did he see it, and declare it; he established it, yea, and searched it out;
28 Dia hoy Izy tamin’ ny olona: Indro, ny fahatahorana ny Tompo no fahendrena. Ary ny fialàna amin’ ny ratsy no fahalalana.
And unto man he said, Lo, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
