< Joba 15 >
1 Dia namaly Elifaza Temanita ka nanao hoe:
And Eliphaz the Temanite made answer and said,
2 Tokony handahatra hevi-dravina va ny olon-kendry, ka hameno ny kibony amin’ ny rivotra avy any atsinanana va,
Will a wise man make answer with knowledge of no value, or will he give birth to the east wind?
3 Ary hamaly amin’ ny teny tsy mahasoa sy ny teny tsy mahatsara?
Will he make arguments with words in which is no profit, and with sayings which have no value?
4 Eny, foananao ny fahatahorana an’ Andriamanitra, ary tampenanao ny fivavahana eo anatrehany;
Truly, you make the fear of God without effect, so that the time of quiet worship before God is made less by your outcry.
5 Fa ny helokao no manesika ny vavanao, ary mianatra ny lelan’ ny fetsy ianao.
For your mouth is guided by your sin, and you have taken the tongue of the false for yourself.
6 Ny vavanao ihany no manameloka anao, fa tsy izaho; Ary ny molotrao ihany no mamely anao.
It is by your mouth, even yours, that you are judged to be in the wrong, and not by me; and your lips give witness against you.
7 Hianao va no voalohany izay nateraka ho olombelona? Na naloaky ny kibo talohan’ ny tendrombohitra va ianao?
Were you the first man to come into the world? or did you come into being before the hills?
8 Isan’ ny mpihevitra teo amin’ Andriamanitra va ianao, ka voarombakao ho anao irery ny fahendrena?
Were you present at the secret meeting of God? and have you taken all wisdom for yourself?
9 Inona no fantatrao, ka tsy mba fantatray koa, na saina azonao, ka tsy ato aminay koa?
What knowledge have you which we have not? is there anything in your mind which is not in ours?
10 Ny anti-panahy sy ny fotsy volo dia misy ato aminay, eny, olona ela niainana noho ny rainao aza.
With us are men who are grey-haired and full of years, much older than your father.
11 Ataonao ho tsinontsinona va ny fampiononana avy amin’ Andriamanitra sy ny teny natao aminao amin’ ny fahalemem-panahy?
Are the comforts of God not enough for you, and the gentle word which was said to you?
12 Nahoana no dia entin’ ny fonao ianao? Ary nahoana no mipipy foana ny masonao,
Why is your heart uncontrolled, and why are your eyes lifted up;
13 Ka miefonefona amin’ Andriamanitra ianao, sady miteniteny foana ny vavanao?
So that you are turning your spirit against God, and letting such words go out of your mouth?
14 Inona ny zanak’ olombelona no mba hadio izy? Ary izay tera-behivavy no mba ho marina?
What is man, that he may be clean? and how may the son of woman be upright?
15 Indro, ireo anjeliny aza tsy mahatoky Azy, ary ny lanitra aza tsy madio eo imasony;
Truly, he puts no faith in his holy ones, and the heavens are not clean in his eyes;
16 Koa mainka fa izay vetaveta sy tena ratsy, dia ny olona izay misotro heloka toa rano!
How much less one who is disgusting and unclean, a man who takes in evil like water!
17 Hanambara aminao aho, ka mihainoa ahy fa izay efa hitako no holazaiko,
Take note and give ear to my words; and I will say what I have seen:
18 Dia zavatra notorin’ ny olon-kendry, fa tsy nafeniny, dia izay azony avy tamin’ ny razany;
(The things which wise men have got from their fathers, and have not kept secret from us;
19 Ireny ihany no nomena ny tany, ary tsy nisy olona hafa firenena nisisika teo aminy.
For only to them was the land given, and no strange people were among them: )
20 Ny ratsy fanahy mijalijaly amin’ ny androny rehetra, dia amin’ ny taona rehetra voatendry ho an’ ny lozabe.
The evil man is in pain all his days, and the number of the years stored up for the cruel is small.
21 Feo mampitahotra no ren’ ny sofiny; Ary na dia miadana aza izy, dia avy hamely azy ihany ny mpandroba.
A sound of fear is in his ears; in time of peace destruction will come on him:
22 Tsy manantena ho afaka amin’ ny maizina izy; Andrasan’ ny sabatra izy.
He has no hope of coming safe out of the dark, and his fate will be the sword;
23 Mirenireny hitady izay hohaniny izy ka manao hoe: Aiza re? Fantany fa antomotra azy ny andro maizina.
He is wandering about in search of bread, saying, Where is it? and he is certain that the day of trouble is ready for him:
24 Fahoriana sy fahaporitana no mampitahotra azy; Mandresy azy ireo tahaka ny mpanjaka efa vonona ho amin’ ny ady,
He is greatly in fear of the dark day, trouble and pain overcome him:
25 Satria naninjitra ny tanany hanohitra an’ Andriamanitra izy Ary nirehareha hanohitra ny Tsitoha.
Because his hand is stretched out against God, and his heart is lifted up against the Ruler of all,
26 Mimaona amin’ ny fahamafian-katoka hamely Azy izy, dia amin’ ny foitran’ ampingany matevina,
Running against him like a man of war, covered by his thick breastplate; even like a king ready for the fight,
27 Satria efa matavitavy tarehy izy, ary mivalon-kotraka ny valahany;
Because his face is covered with fat, and his body has become thick;
28 Ary monina ao an-tanana rava izy, dia ao an-trano tokony tsy hitoeran’ olona, izay efa voatendry ho korontam-bato.
And he has made his resting-place in the towns which have been pulled down, in houses where no man had a right to be, whose fate was to become masses of broken walls.
29 Tsy hanan-karena izy, sady tsy haharitra ny heriny, ka tsy ho vokatra ambonin’ ny tany ny fananany.
He does not get wealth for himself, and is unable to keep what he has got; the heads of his grain are not bent down to the earth.
30 Tsy ho afaka amin’ ny maizina izy; ny solofony hikainkona azon’ ny lelafo; ho levon’ ny fofonain’ Andriamanitra izy.
He does not come out of the dark; his branches are burned by the flame, and the wind takes away his bud.
31 Aoka tsy ho voafitaka hatoky zava-poana izy; fa zava-poana no ho valiny homena azy.
Let him not put his hope in what is false, falling into error: for he will get deceit as his reward.
32 Raha mbola tsy tonga aza ny androny, dia manjo azy izany, ary tsy ho maitso ny sampany.
His branch is cut off before its time, and his leaf is no longer green.
33 Ho tahaka ny voaloboka manintsana ny voany manta izy ary ho tahaka ny hazo oliva mampiraraka ny voniny.
He is like a vine whose grapes do not come to full growth, or an olive-tree dropping its flowers.
34 Fa tsy ho vanona ny ankohonan’ ny mpihatsaravelatsihy, ary ho lanin’ ny afo ny tranon’ ny mpitoroka.
For the band of the evil-doers gives no fruit, and the tents of those who give wrong decisions for reward are burned with fire.
35 Torontoronina fampahoriana izy ka miteraka fandozana, ary ny kibony mamorom-pitaka.
Evil has made them with child, and they give birth to trouble; and the fruit of their body is shame for themselves.
