< Jeremia 9 >

1 Enga anie ka ho rano ny lohako, ary ho loharanon-dranomaso ny masoko, mba hitomaniako andro aman’ alina noho ny voavono amin’ ny oloko zanakavavy!
How I wish my head was a spring of water, and my eyes a fountain of tears! Then I would weep day and night over all my people who have been killed.
2 Enga anie ka hahita fitoerana any an-efitra aho tahaka ny fitoeran’ ny mpandeha! Dia hahafoy ny fireneko aho ka hiala aminy, satria mpijangajanga avokoa izy rehetra, eny, mpivadika miray tetika izy.
I wish I had a temporary shelter in the desert—I would give up on my people and leave them, because they're all adulterers, a bunch of traitors!
3 Manenjana ny lelany toy ny fanenjana tsipìka izy mba handefa lainga. Ary tsy araka ny marina no mahahery azy etỳ ambonin’ ny tany; Fa mandroso amin’ ny ratsy ka hatramin’ ny ratsy izy, ary Izaho tsy mba fantany, hoy Jehovah.
Their words are like arrows shot from a bow. Lies win out over the truth throughout the country. They go from one evil thing to the next, forgetting all about me, declares the Lord.
4 Samia miaro tena amin’ ny namany avy ianareo. Ary aza misy matoky olona na dia ny rahalahy aza; Fa ny rahalahy rehetra dia mamingana tokoa, ary ny namana rehetra mandehandeha manaratsy.
Everyone, watch out for your friends! Don't even trust your brother! Every brother is deceitful, and every friend slanders other people.
5 Izy rehetra samy mamitaka ny namany avy, ka tsy misy miteny marina; Mampianatra ny lelany handainga izy ary manasa-tena amin’ ny fanaovan-dratsy.
Everyone betrays their friends; no one tells the truth. They've made themselves into expert liars; they tire themselves out doing wrong.
6 Ny fonenanao dia ao anatin’ ny fitaka; Fitaka no nandavany tsy hahalalana Ahy, hoy Jehovah.
Everyone exploits each other, and in all their lies they don't want to know me, declares the Lord.
7 Koa izao no lazain’ i Jehovah, Tompon’ ny maro: Indro, handrendrika sy hizaha toetra azy Aho; Fa ahoana no hataoko noho ny amin’ ny oloko zanakavavy?
So this is what the Lord Almighty says: Look, I'm going to test them and purify them like metal in a furnace. What else can I do because of what my people have done?
8 Zana-tsipìka mahafaty ny lelany ka miteny fitaka; Raha amin’ ny vavany, dia miteny fihavanana amin’ ny namany izy, kanjo ao anatiny kosa dia manao otri-po.
Their words are arrows that kill; they always tell lies. They're nice to their friends on the outside while plotting against them inside.
9 Tsy hovaliako va izy amin’ izany zavatra izany? hoy Jehovah, tsy hialako fo va ny firenena toy izany?
Shouldn't I punish them for all this? declares the Lord. Shouldn't I retaliate for what this nation has done?
10 Noho ny amin’ ny tendrombohitra no hitomaniako sy hidradradrako, ary noho ny amin’ ny kijana any an-efitra no hanaovako hira fa halahelovana, satria may izy, ka tsy misy mandeha mamaky eo aminy, ary tsy misy fimàmàn’ omby re intsony, ary na ny voro-manidina na ny bibi-dia samy efa nandositra ka lasa avokoa.
I will weep and wail for the mountains, I will sing a funeral song over the pastures in the countryside, because they have been so badly burned that no one can pass through, and there are no cattle to make any noise. The birds have flown and the wild animals have run away.
11 Ary Jerosalema dia hataoko korontam-bato sy fonenan’ ny amboadia; ary ny tanànan’ ny Joda hataoko lao tsy hisy mponina.
I'm going to make Jerusalem into a heap of rubble, a place where jackals live. I will destroy the towns of Judah, leaving them empty.
12 Iza no olon-kendry mba hahafantatra izao, sady efa nitenenan’ ny vavan’ i Jehovah mba hanambara izao? Fa nahoana no noravana ny tany sady may ho toy ny efitra, ka tsy misy mandeha mamaky eo aminy?
Who is wise enough to understand this? Has the Lord told anyone so they can explain what's happened? Why has the land been destroyed and burned so it's like a desert, so no one can pass through it?
13 Ary hoy Jehovah: satria nahafoy ny lalàko izay nataoko teo anoloany izy ka tsy nankato izany ary tsy nihaino ny feoko,
The Lord replied, It's because they have given up keeping my laws that I placed before them. They haven't followed them; they haven't done what I told them.
14 Fa nandeha araka ny ditry ny fony sy nanaraka ireo Bala araka izay nampianarin’ ny razany azy,
On the contrary, they have followed their own stubborn way of thinking, and went to worship the Baals, just as their forefathers taught them.
15 Dia izao no lazain’ i Jehovah, Tompon’ ny maro, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely: Indro, hofahanako zava-mahafaty ity firenena ity sy hampisotroiko rano mangidy;
So this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Watch out! I will give these people wormwood to eat and poisoned water to drink.
16 Ary haeliko any amin’ izay jentilisa tsy fantany na fantatry ny razany izy; Ary hampanenjehiko azy ny sabatra ambara-pandaniko azy.
I'm about to scatter them among nations unfamiliar to them and their forefathers, and I will send enemies with swords to chase after them until I have wiped them out.
17 Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah. Tompon’ ny maro: Mihevera tsara, ka antsoy ireny vehivavy mpanao hira fahalahelovana mba ho avy; Eny, ampanalao ireny vehivavy mahay mba ho tonga;
This is what the Lord Almighty says: Be aware of what's happening! Call for the professional women mourners, ask for the best of them.
18 Ary asaovy haingana ireny hanandratra fidradradradrana ho antsika, mba hampijojy ny ranomasontsika sy hampivarina ny ranomaso avy amin’ ny hodimasontsika.
Have them come as quickly as possible, and sing a funeral song about us, so we can cry our eyes out, so our tears will flow like streams.
19 Fa misy feo midradradradra re any Ziona hoe: Indrisy! rava isika; Afa-baraka indrindra isika, satria tsy maintsy mamoy ny tany, fa efa narodana ny trano nitoerantsika.
The sound of weeping comes from Zion, “We're completely devastated! We're totally ashamed, because we've had to abandon our country, because our houses have been demolished.”
20 Nefa mihainoa ny tenin’ i Jehovah, ianareo vehivavy, ary aoka hohenoin’ ny sofinareo ny tenin’ ny vavany, ka ampianaro fidradradradrana ny zanakavavinareo, ary samia mampianatra hira fahalahelovana ny namany avy.
Women, listen to the Lord's message, hear what he has to say. Teach your daughters to mourn and sing songs of sadness.
21 Fa ny fahafatesana efa nananika ny varavarankelintsika ka niditra tao an-dapantsika, mba handringana ny ankizy madinika tsy ho eny an-dalambe sy ny zatovo tsy ho eny an-kalalahana.
Death has slipped in through our windows; it has come into our fortresses. It has killed the children playing in the streets and the young people gathering in the town squares.
22 Ataovy hoe: Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah: Hiampatrampatra ny fatin’ ny olona ka ho tonga tahaka ny zezika eny an-tsaha sy tahaka ny amboara nilaozan’ ny mpijinja, Izay tsy misy manangona azy.
Tell everyone this is what the Lord says: Dead bodies will be left where they fall like manure in the fields, lying there like stalks of freshly-cut grain behind the reaper, with no one to collect them.
23 Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah: Aoka ny hendry tsy hirehareha amin’ ny fahendreny, ary aoka ny mahery tsy hirehareha amin’ ny heriny, ary aoka ny manan-karena tsy hirehareha amin’ ny hareny;
This is what the Lord says: The wise shouldn't boast about their wisdom. The strong shouldn't boast about their strength. The rich shouldn't boast about their riches.
24 Fa izay te-hirehareha dia aoka hirehareha amin’ izao: Dia ny fahendreny sy ny fahalalany Ahy ho Jehovah, Izay manao famindram-po sy fitsarana marina ary fahamarinana etỳ ambonin’ ny tany; fa izany no sitrako, hoy Jehovah.
Anyone who wants to boast should boast that they really know and understand me, recognizing that I am the Lord who acts with trustworthy love, who shows fairness, and who does what is right everywhere on earth, because these mean the most to me, declares the Lord.
25 Indro, avy ny andro, hoy Jehovah, izay hamaliako ny voafora rehetra mbamin’ ny tsy voafora koa,
Watch out, for the time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will punish all who are only physically circumcised.
26 Dia Egypta sy Joda sy Edoma sy ny taranak’ i Amona ary Moaba mbamin’ izay rehetra voahety sisim-bolo, izay monina any an-efitra; Fa ny jentilisa rehetra dia tsy voafora, ary ny taranak’ Isiraely rehetra kosa dia tsy voafora fo.
Egypt, Judah, Edom, Ammon, Moab, and all the desert people who trim their hair on the sides of their heads—all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the Israelites are spiritually uncircumcised.
