Jeremia 29

1 Ary izao no fitenin’ ny taratasy izay nampitondrain’ i Jeremia mpaminany avy tany Jerosalema ho any amin’ ny sisa amin’ ny loholona voababo sy ho amin’ ny mpisorona sy ny mpaminany ary ny vahoaka rehetra, izay nobaboin’ i Nebokadnezara ka nentiny avy tany Jerosalema ho any Babylona

Now these are the words of the letter which Jeremiah the prophet sent to the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon,

after the departure of Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, and the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the artificers, and the smiths, from Jerusalem,

3 dia ilay teny nampitondrainy an’ i Elasa, zanak’ i Safana, sy Gemaria, zanak’ i Hilkia, izay nirahin’ i Zedekia, mpanjakan’ ny Joda, ho any Babylona, ho any amin’ i Nebokadnezara, mpanjakan’ i Babylona, nanao hoe:

by the hand of Elasah, the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah, the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah, the king of Judah, sent to Babylon, to Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, ) saying: —

4 Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah, Tompon’ ny maro, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely, amin’ ny babo rehetra izay natolotro ho babo avy tany Jerosalema ho any Babylona:

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the captives whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem to Babylon:

5 Manaova trano ianareo, ka mitoera aminy; ary manaova tanimboly, ka hano ny vokatra avy aminy.

Build ye houses and dwell in them; and plant gardens and eat the fruit of them.

6 Manambadia, ka miteraha zazalahy sy zazavavy; analao vady ny zanakalahinareo, ary ampanambadio ny zanakavavinareo, mba hiterahany zazalahy sy zazavavy, ka hihamaro anie ianareo, fa tsy hihavitsy.

Take ye wives, and have sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; and increase ye there, and be not diminished.

7 Ary katsaho izay hiadanan’ ny tanàna izay nampandehanako anareo ho babo, ary mivavaha amin’ i Jehovah ho azy; fa raha miadana izy, dia mba hiadana koa ianareo.

And seek ye the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray for it to Jehovah, for in its peace shall be your peace.

8 Fa izao no lazain’ i Jehovah, Tompon’ ny maro, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely: Aza mety hofitahin’ ny mpaminaninareo sy ny mpanao fankatovanareo, izay ao aminareo, ary aza mino ny nofinareo izay nofisinareo.

For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Let not your prophets and your diviners, who are in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.

9 Fa lainga no vinaniny aminareo amin’ ny anarako; tsy naniraka azy Aho, hoy Jehovah.

For they prophesy falsely to you in my name; I have not sent them, saith Jehovah.

10 Fa izao no lazain’ i Jehovah: Rehefa tapitra ny fito-polo taona ny amin’ i Babylona, dia hamangy anareo Aho, fa hotanterahiko aminareo ny teniko tsara, ka hampodiko ho amin’ ity tany ity ianareo.

For thus saith Jehovah: Surely, when seventy years shall be completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will perform for you my good promise, that I would bring you again to this place.

11 Fa Izaho mahalala ny hevitra iheverako anareo, hoy Jehovah, dia hevitra hahatonga fiadanana, fa tsy loza, mba hanome anareo fanantenana ny amin’ ny farany.

For I know the designs which I have in mind concerning you, designs of good and not of evil, to give you a happy end, and fulfill your hopes.

12 Ary hiantso Ahy ianareo ka handeha sy hivavaka amiko, dia hihaino anareo Aho.

Then ye shall call upon me, and go in peace; ye shall pray to me, and I will hear you;

13 Ary hitady Ahy ianareo, dia ho hitanareo Aho, raha katsahinareo amin’ ny fonareo rehetra.

ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye search for me with all your heart.

14 Eny, ho hitanareo Aho, hoy Jehovah; ary hampodiko avy amin’ ny fahababoana ianareo, ka hangoniko avy any amin’ ny firenena rehetra sy avy any amin’ ny tany rehetra izay nandroahako anareo, hoy Jehovah, ka hampodiko ho any amin’ ilay tany efa nanolorako anareo hobaboina.

And I will be found by you, saith Jehovah, and I will bring you back from captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith Jehovah; and I will bring you again to the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

15 Fa hoy ianareo: Jehovah nanangana mpaminany ho anay eto Babylona.

Since ye say, Jehovah hath raised us up prophets in Babylon,

16 Fa izao no lazain’ i Jehovah ny amin’ ny mpanjaka izay mipetraka eo amin’ ny seza fiandrianan’ i Davida sy ny amin’ ny vahoaka rehetra izay monina amin’ ity tanàna ity, dia ny rahalahinareo izay tsy mba lasan-ko babo niaraka taminareo.

behold, thus saith Jehovah concerning the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and concerning all the people that dwell in this city, your brethren that went not forth with you into captivity, —

17 izao no lazain’ i Jehovah, Tompon’ ny maro: Indro, hampameleziko azy ny sabatra sy ny mosary ary ny areti-mandringana, ka hataoko toy ny aviavy ratsy dia ratsy izay tsy azo hanina noho ny haratsiny izy.

thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and I will make them like vile figs, which cannot be eaten for badness.

18 Ary henjehiko amin’ ny sabatra sy ny mosary ary ny areti-mandringana izy ka hatolotro ho mpanjenjena any amin’ ny fanjakana rehetra ambonin’ ny tany, ho fanozonana sy figagana sy zavatra mampisitrisitra sy fandatsa ho an’ ny firenena izay nandroahako, azy

And I will persecute them with the sword, and with famine, and with pestilence, and I will give them up to oppression in all kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I drive them;

19 noho ny tsy nihainoany ny teniko, hoy Jehovah, izay nampitondraiko ny mpaminany mpanompoko ho any aminy, teny, nifoha maraina koa Aho ka naniraka azy, nefa tsy nihaino ianareo, hoy Jehovah.

because they have not hearkened to my words, saith Jehovah, when I sent to them my servants, the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith Jehovah.

20 Koa mihainoa ny tenin’ i Jehovah, ianareo babo rehetra izay nesoriko tany Jerosalema ho atỳ Babylona.

Hear ye, therefore, the word of Jehovah, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon.

21 Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah, Tompon’ ny maro, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely, ny amin’ i Ahaba, zanak’ i Kolaia, sy ny amin’ i Zedekia, zanak’ i Mahaseia, izay maminany lainga aminareo amin’ ny anarako: Indro, hatolotro eo an-tanan’ i Nebokadnezara, mpanjakan’ i Babylona, izy, ka dia hovonoiny eo imasonareo.

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab, the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah, the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and he shall slay them before your eyes.

22 Ary izy roa lahy dia hataon’ ny babo rehetra amin’ ny Joda izay any Babylona ho fanozonana hoe: Hataon’ i Jehovah tahaka an’ i Zedekia sy Ahaba, izay nodoran’ ny mpanjakan’ i Babylona tamin’ ny afo, anie ianao,

And from them shall be taken a curse among all the captives of Judah that are at Babylon, so that they shall say, “Jehovah make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire!”

23 noho ny nanaovany izay fady indrindra tao amin’ ny Isiraely sy ny nijangajangany tamin’ ny vadin’ ny namany ary ny nitenenany lainga tamin’ ny anarako, izay tsy nandidiako azy; Izaho no mahalala, ka ho vavolombelona Aho, hoy Jehovah.

because they have practised villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I commanded them not. But I know it, and am a witness, saith Jehovah.

24 Ary Semaia Nehelamita dia hilazanao hoe:

And to Shemaiah, the Nehelamite, shalt thou say,

25 Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah, Tompon’ ny maro, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely: Noho ny nampitondranao taratasy tamin’ ny anaranao ho amin’ ny vahoaka rehetra izay any Jerosalema sy amin’ i Zefania mpisorona, zanak’ i Mahaseia, ary amin’ ny mpisorona rehetra hafa koa nanao hoe:

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Because thou hast sent letters in thy name to all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah, the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

26 Jehovah efa nanao anao ho mpisorona ho solon’ i Joiada mpisorona, mba hanendry izay ho mpiandraikitra ny tranon’ i Jehovah, hisakana izay rehetra very saina sy manao azy ho mpaminany, ka dia hasianao boloky hazo ny vozony sy ny tongony;

Jehovah hath made thee priest in the room of Jehoiada the priest, that there should be officers in the house of Jehovah against every one that is mad and prophesieth, and that thou shouldst put him into the stocks, and into prison;

27 koa nahoana ianao no tsy nananatra mafy an’ i Jeremia avy any Anatota, izay manao azy ho mpaminany aminareo?

now, therefore, why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, who prophesieth to you?

28 Fa naniraka ho aminay any Babylona izy nanao hoe: Mbola haharitra ela izao, koa manaova trano ianareo, dia mitoera aminy, ary manaova tanimboly, ka hano ny vokatra aminy.

For he hath sent to us at Babylon, saying, This captivity is long. Build ye houses and dwell in them, and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

29 Ary Zefania mpisorona namaky izany taratasy izany teo anatrehan’ i Jeremia mpaminany.

And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.

30 Dia tonga tamin’ i Jeremia ny tenin’ i Jehovah hoe:

Then came the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah, saying:

31 Maniraha ho any amin’ ny babo rehetra, ka lazao aminy hoe: Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah ny amin’ i Semaia Nehelamita: Noho ny naminanian’ i Semaia taminareo, kanefa tsy nirahiko izy tsinona, fa nampitoky anareo tamin’ ny lainga

Send to all those of the captivity, saying, Thus saith Jehovah concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because Shemaiah the prophet hath prophesied to you, and I sent him not, and he hath caused you to trust in a lie,

32 dia izao no lazain’ i Jehovah: Indro, efa hamaly an’ i Semaia Nehelamita sy ny taranany Aho: tsy hanana zanakalahy honina amin’ ity firenena ity izy sady tsy hanam-pifaliana amin’ ny hahitana ny soa izay hataoko amin’ ny oloko, hoy Jehovah, satria fiodinana tamin’ i Jehovah no notoriny.

therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will punish Shemaiah, the Nehelamite, and his offspring. There shall descend from him not a man to dwell among this people, and he shall not behold the good which I will do for my people, saith Jehovah; for he hath spoken rebellion against Jehovah.
