< Isaia 36 >

1 Ary tamin’ ny taona fahefatra ambin’ ny folo nanjakan’ i Hezekia mpanjaka dia niakatra Sankeriba, mpanjakan’ i Asyria, hamely ny tanàna mimanda rehetra any Joda ka nahafaka azy.
Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up, against all the fortified cities of Judah and took them.
2 Ary ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria naniraka an-dRabsake mbamin’ ny miaramila betsaka avy teo Lakisy hankany Jerosalema ho any amin’ i Hezekia mpanjaka. Dia nitsangana teo anilan’ ny lakan-drano amin’ ny kamory ambony izy, teo an-dalambe mankamin’ ny sahan’ ny mpamotsy lamba.
Then did the king of Assyria send Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem unto King Hezekiah with a heavy force, —and he took his stand by the upper channel of the pool, in the highway of the fuller’s field.
3 Ary Eliakima, zanak’ i Hilkia, izay lehiben’ ny tao an-dapa, sy Sebna mpanoratra ary Joa, zanak’ i Asafa, mpitadidy ny raharaham-panjakana, dia nivoaka ho ao aminy.
And there went out to him—Eliakim son of Hilkiah who was over the household, —and Shebna, the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder.
4 Dia hoy Rabsake tamin’ ireo: Andeha, lazao amin’ i Hezekia hoe: Izao no lazain’ ny mpanjaka lehibe, dia ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria: Inona moa izato itokianao?
And Rabshakeh said unto them, Pray you say unto Hezekiah, —Thus, saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What is this trust, wherewith thou dost trust?
5 Hoy izaho: Teny foana ny hoe: Manana saina sy hery hiady aho. Fa iza no itokianao, no miodina amiko ianao?
I have said [sayest thou] —they are only words of the lips—Counsel and might have I for the war, —Now, upon whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?
6 Indro, ianao matoky io tehina volotara torotoro io, dia Egypta, nefa raha itehenan’ olona io, dia manindrona ny tànany miboroaka; eny, tahaka izany Farao, mpanjakan’ i Egypta, amin’ izay rehetra matoky azy.
Lo! thou dost trust on the support of this bruised cane, on Egypt, whereon if a man lean it will enter his hand and lay it open, —So, is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust upon him.
7 Fa raha hoy ianao amiko: Jehovah Andriamanitray no itokianay, moa tsy Azy va ny fitoerana avo aman’ alitara izay noravan’ i Hezekia, izay nilaza tamin’ ny Joda sy Jerosalema hoe: Eto anoloan’ ity alitara ity no hiankohofanareo?
But, if thou shouldst say unto me, In Yahweh our God, do we trust, Then is that not he whose high places and whose altars, Hezekiah hath removed, and said unto Judah and unto Jerusalem, Before this altar, shall ye bow yourselves down?
8 Koa aoka hifaninana ianao sy ny tompoko, mpanjakan’ i Asyria, fa homeko soavaly roa arivo ianao, raha tàhiny manana olona hitaingina azy.
Now, therefore, pledge thyself I pray thee with my lord, the king of Assyria, —That I supply thee with two thousand horses, If thou on thy part be able to set riders upon them;
9 Hataonao ahoana no fampiamboho ny komandy iray amin’ ny mpanompon’ ny tompoko, na dia izay kely indrindra aminy aza, nefa matoky an’ i Egypta ianao hahazoanao kalesy sy mpitaingin-tsoavaly?
How then wilt thou turn away the face of one pasha of the least of my lord’s servants? Or hast thou on thy part trusted upon Egypt, for chariots and for horsemen?
10 Koa moa haitraitro va izao niakarako izao? Tsia, fa Jehovah no naniraka ahy handrava ity tany ity ka nanao hoe: Miakara ho amin’ izany tany izany, ka ravao izy.
But, now, is it, without Yahweh, that I have come up against this land to destroy it? Yahweh himself, said unto me, Go thou up against this land and destroy it!
11 Dia hoy Eliakima sy Sebna ary Joa tamin-dRabsake: Masìna ianao, teny Syriana no ataovy amin’ ny mpanomponao, fa fantatray ihany izany; fa aza manao teny Jiosy ho ren’ ny olona eny ambonin’ ny manda.
Then said Eliakim, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh—Speak we pray thee unto thy servants in the Syrian language, for we, can, understand, it, —and do not speak unto us in the Jews’ language, in the ears of the people who are upon the wall.
12 Fa hoy Rabsake: Moa ho amin’ ny tomponao sy ianao va no nanirahan’ ny tompoko hilaza izany teny izany, fa tsy ho amin’ ny olona izay mipetraka eny ambonin’ ny manda, hihinanany izay tsy fihinany sy hisotroany izay tsy fisotrony miaraka aminareo?
But Rabshakeh said—Is it unto thy lord and unto thee, that my lord hath sent me, to speak these things? Is it not concerning the men who are tarrying upon the wall, that they may eat and drink what cometh from them, with you?
13 Dia nijoro teo Rabsake ka niantso tamin’ ny feo mahery tamin’ ny teny Jiosy hoe: Henoy ny tenin’ ny mpanjaka lehibe, dia ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria.
So then Rabshakeh took his stand, and cried out with a loud voice, in the Jews’ language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria:
14 Izao no lazain’ ny mpanjaka: Aza mety hofitahin’ i Hezekia ianareo; fa tsy hahavonjy anareo izy tsy akory.
Thus, saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you, —for he shall not be able to deliver you.
15 Ary aza mety hampahatokin’ i Hezekia an’ i Jehovah ianareo amin’ ny anaovany hoe: Jehovah no hamonjy antsika tokoa; ary tsy hatolotra eo an-tànan’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria tsy akory ity tanàna ity.
Neither let Hezekiah cause you to trust in Yahweh saying, Yahweh, will certainly deliver, us, —this city shall not be given over, into the hand of the king of Assyria.
16 Aza mihaino an’ i Hezekia ianareo; fa izao no lazain’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria: Manaova fanekena amiko hiadananareo, ka mankanesa atỳ amiko, ary samia homana ny voalobony sy ny aviaviny, ary samia misotro ny rano avy amin’ ny lavaka famorian-dranony avy ianareo,
Do not hearken unto Hezekiah, —for, thus, saith the king of Assyria, Deal with me thankfully, and come out unto me, Then shall ye eat, Every one of his own vine and Every one of his own fig-tree, And drink every one the Waters of his own cistern:
17 mandra-pihaviko hitondra anareo ho any amin’ izay tany tahaka ny taninareo, dia tany misy vary sy ranom-boaloboka, tany misy mofo sy tanim-boaloboka.
Until I come and take you, into A land like your own land, —A land of corn and new wine, A land of bread and vineyards: —
18 Aza mety homen’ i Hezekia vohony ianareo amin’ ny anaovany hoe: Jehovah no hamonjy antsika. Moa nisy nahavonjy ny taniny tamin’ ny tanan’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria va ireo andriamanitry ny firenena ireo?
Lest Hezekiah, persuade you, saying, Yahweh will deliver us! Have the gods of the nations, delivered, —any one of them—his country, out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
19 Aiza moa ny andriamanitr’ i Hamata sy Arpada? Ary aiza koa ny andriamanitr’ i Sefarvaima? Nahavonjy an’ i Samaria tamin’ ny tanako va ireo andriamaniny?
Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? If indeed they had only delivered Samaria, out of my hand!
20 Iza moa amin’ ny andriamanitra rehetra amin’ ireo tany ireo no efa nahavonjy ny taniny tamin’ ny tanako, koa aiza no hahavonjen’ i Jehovah an’ i Jerosalema amin’ ny tanako?
Who are they, among all the gods of these countries that have delivered their country out of my hand? That, Yahweh, should deliver, Jerusalem, out of my hand!
21 Nefa nangina ny olona, ka tsy nisy namaly azy na dia teny indraim-bava akory aza, satria ny mpanjaka efa nandidy hoe: Aza misy mamaly azy.
But they held their peace, and answered him not a word, —for the command of the king, it was, saying, —Ye must not answer him.
22 Ary Eliakima, zanak’ i Hilkia, izay lehiben’ ny tao an-dapa, sy Sebna mpanoratra ary Joa, zanak’ i Asafa, mpitadidy ny raharaham-panjakana, dia niditra nankao amin’ i Hezekia, sady voatriatra ny fitafiany, ary nilaza taminy ny tenin-dRabsake izy.
Then came in—Eliakim son of Hilkiah who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph, the recorder, unto Hezekiah, with rent clothes, —and they told him the words of Rabshakeh.
