< Isaia 1 >
1 Ny fahitan’ Isaia, zanak’ i Amoza, izay hitany ny amin’ ny Joda sy Jerosalema tamin’ ny andron’ i Ozia sy Jotama sy Ahaza ary Hezekia, izay samy mpanjakan’ ny Joda.
This is the vision that Isaiah, son of Amoz, saw about Judah and Jerusalem in the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
2 Mandrenesa, ry lanitra, ary mihainoa, ry tany, Fa Jehovah no miteny hoe: Efa nitaiza sy nahalehibe zaza Aho, Kanjo niodina tamiko ireo.
Heavens, listen! Earth, pay attention! For the Lord has spoken! I brought up children, I cared for them, but they have rebelled against me.
3 Ny omby mahalala ny tompony, Ary ny boriky ny fihinanam-bilon’ ny tompony; Fa ny Isiraely tsy mahalala, Ny oloko tsy misaina.
An ox knows its owner, and a donkey knows its feeding trough; but my people don't know me, they don't understand me.
4 Indrisy! firenena mpanota, olona mavesa-keloka, Taranaka mpanao ratsy, zanaka mpanao meloka! Efa nahafoy an’ i Jehovah izy, Efa nanamavo ny Iray Masin’ ny Isiraely. Efa nihodina izy.
What a sinful nation—a people carrying such a load of guilt, an evil generation, corrupt children! They have abandoned the Lord. They have despised Israel's Holy One. They have become strangers. They have gone backwards.
5 Nahoana no mbola ta-hasiana ihany ianareo noho izao fiodinanareo lalandava izao? Henika aretina avokoa ny loha rehetra, Ary marary ny fo rehetra.
Are you wanting to be punished? Are you going to continue to rebel? The whole of your head is damaged, and your heart is totally giving out.
6 Hatramin’ ny faladia ka hatramin’ ny loha dia tsy misy izay tsy marary, Fa ratra sy dian-kapoka ary fery vao; Tsy mbola voaporitra, na voafehy, na voalemin’ ny diloilo izy.
You're injured from head to toe, bruised and sore, with open wounds that haven't been cleaned or bandaged or treated with olive oil.
7 Ny taninareo dia efa lao; Ny tanànanareo dia voadotra tamin’ ny afo; Ny tany volenareo dia lanin’ ny fahavalo eo imasonareo, ary lao izy toy ny efa noravan’ ny fahavalo.
Your country has been devastated, your towns burned down, your fields stripped bare by foreigners right in front of you, as they turn it all into a wasteland.
8 Ary Ziona zanakavavy dia nilaozana tahaka ny trano rantsan-kazo ao anaty tanim-boaloboka, Sy tahaka ny fandriana mihantona an’ ny mpiandry voly ao anaty tanimbolim-boantango, Dia tahaka ny tanàna atao fahirano.
The daughter of Zion is left like a shack in a vineyard, like a hut in a cucumber field, like a city under attack.
9 Raha tsy nosisan’ i Jehovah. Tompon’ ny maro, olona vitsivitsy isika, Dia efa tonga tahaka an’ i Sodoma Ary nitovy tamin’ i Gomora.
If the Lord Almighty hadn't let a few of us survive, we would have become like Sodom and Gomorrah.
10 Mandrenesa ny tenin’ i Jehovah, ry mpitsaran’ i Sodoma; Mihainoa ny lalàn’ Andriamanitsika, ry vahoakan’ i Gomora.
Listen to what the Lord has to say, you rulers of Sodom! Pay attention to the instructions of our God, you people of Gomorrah!
11 Hataoko inona ny zavatra betsaka vonoinareo ho fanatitra? hoy Jehovah; Efa tofoka ny ondrilahy atao fanatitra dorana sy ny saboran’ ny zanak’ omby mifahy Aho, Ary tsy sitrako ny ran’ ny vantotr’ ombilahy sy ny an’ ny zanak’ ondry ary ny an’ ny osilahy.
What use are all your many sacrifices to me? asks the Lord. I am sick and tired of your burnt offerings of rams and the fat of sacrificial animals. I don't delight in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats!
12 Raha avy miseho eo anatrehako ianareo, Iza moa no nitady anareo hanitsakitsaka ny kianjako?
When you come to appear before me in worship, who asked you to proudly tramp around my courts?
13 Aza mitondra fanati-poana intsony; Fofona fahavetavetana amiko izany! Ny voaloham-bolana sy ny Sabata ary ny fiantsoam-piangonana Tsy zakako ny fivoriana masìna haroharoam-paharatsiana!
Don't bring me any more meaningless offerings; your incense is offensive to me. Your new moon festivals and Sabbath observations and your calling of special religious meetings—I can't stand them because they're evil, as are your solemn assemblies.
14 Ny voaloham-bolanareo sy ny fotoam-pivavahanareo dia halan’ ny fanahiko, Mavesatra amiko izany, Ka sasatra mitondra azy Aho.
I detest your new moon and yearly festivals with my whole being! They've become just a burden to me—I can't bear them anymore!
15 Raha mananty tanana ianareo, Dia hitampi-maso tsy hijery anareo Aho; Eny, na dia manao vavaka be aza ianareo, dia tsy hihaino Aho; Feno ran’ olona ny tananareo.
When you hold up your hands to me in prayer, I'll look away. Even though you pray many prayers, I won't pay attention to them, because your hands are full of blood.
16 Misasà ianareo, diovy ny tenanareo, Esory tsy ho eo anoloan’ ny masoko ny ratsy fanaonareo; Mitsahara, fa aza manao ratsy;
Wash yourselves and clean yourselves up. Get rid of your sins—I don't want to see them! Stop doing evil!
17 Mianara hanao ny tsara, Diniho izay rariny, anaro ny mpampahory, Omeo rariny ny kamboty, tsarao ny adin’ ny mpitondratena.
Learn to do good; strive for justice, condemn those who oppress others; support the rights of orphans, take up cases to defend widows.
18 Avia ary hifandahatra isika, hoy Jehovah: Na dia tahaka ny jaky aza ny fahotanareo, Dia ho fotsy tahaka ny oram-panala, Na dia mangatrakatraka tahaka ny sily aza, Dia ho tahaka ny volon’ ondry fotsy.
Come on, let's argue this out, says the Lord. Even though your sins are like scarlet, they will become white like snow. Even though they are red like crimson, they will become like wool.
19 Raha manaiky sy mankatò ianareo, dia hihinana ny voka-tsoa amin’ ny tany;
If you really want this, and if you do as you're told, then you yourselves will eat the best things that the land produces.
20 Fa raha mbola mandà sy miodina ihany ianareo, Dia ho lanin’ ny sabatra: Fa ny vavan’ i Jehovah no efa niteny.
But if you are defiant, and if you are rebellious, you'll be killed by the sword. This is what the Lord has declared!
21 Indrisy! tonga janga ity tanàna mahatoky Izay feno ny rariny taloha Sady nitoeran’ ny fahamarinana, Fa ankehitriny kosa mpamono olona no ao.
The city that used to be faithful has turned into a prostitute! Once she operated on principles of justice and followed what was right, but now only murderers live there.
22 Ny volafotsinao efa tonga tain-drendrika; Ny divainao efa voatsatso rano;
Your silver has become worthless waste; you wine has been watered down.
23 Ny lehibenao dia mpiodina sady naman’ ny mpangalatra; Samy tia kolikoly sy fatra-nitady tambitam-by avokoa izy rehetra; Ny kamboty tsy mba omeny rariny, Ary ny adin’ ny mpitondratena tsy avelany ho entina eo anatrehany.
Your leaders are rebels, friends of thieves. They all love bribes and want to get kickbacks. They don't defend the rights of orphans, and refuse to take cases to help widows.
24 Ka dia hoy Jehovah, Tompon’ ny maro, Ilay Maherin’ ny Isiraely: E! hiala fo amin’ ny mandrafy Ahy Aho Ary hamaly ny fahavaloko.
So this is what the Lord says, the Lord Almighty, the Mighty One of Israel: Ha! I will take satisfaction in punishing my enemies, by paying back those who hate me!
25 Dia hamerina ny tanako ho aminao Aho, Ka hodioviko amin’ ny lavenona ianao hahafahan’ ny tain-drendrikao, ary hesoriko ny firaka rehetra aminao.
I will turn against you. I will refine you in a furnace, removing all impurities.
26 Dia hampodiko ho toy ny teo aloha ny mpitsaranao, Ary ny mpanolo-tsainao ho toy ny tamin’ ny voalohany; Ary rehefa afaka izany, ianao dia hantsoina hoe: Tanànan’ ny fahamarinana, Tanàna mahatoky.
I will give you good leaders as you used to have before, wise counselors as you had in the beginning. After that you will once again be called the City of Integrity, the Faithful City.
27 Ziona havotana amin’ ny fitsarana, ary izay efa mibebaka ao dia havotana amin’ ny fahamarinana;
Zion will be rescued by justice, those who repent by doing right.
28 Ary samy haringana avotoa ny mpiodina sy ny mpanota, Eny, ho lany ritra izay mahafoy an’ i Jehovah.
But rebels and sinners will be destroyed together, and those who abandon the Lord will die.
29 Fa hahazo henatra ianareo noho ny amin’ ny hazo terebinta izay nifalianareo, ary hangaihay ianareo noho ny amin’ ny saha izay natokanareo.
You will be ashamed about how you enjoyed your pagan worship among the oak trees; you will be embarrassed because you chose the pleasure gardens of idols.
30 Fa ho tahaka ny hazo terebinta malazo ravina ianareo, Sy ho tahaka ny saha tsy misy rano.
As a result you will become like an oak whose leaves have withered, a dried-out garden that has no water.
31 Ny mahery ho tahaka ny vohavoha, Ary ny asany ho tahaka ny kilalaon’ afo, Dia hiaraka hodorana izy roa tonta, Ka tsy hisy hamono ny afo.
Your strong people will become like tinder, and their work will become like a spark. They will burn together, and nobody will be able to put out the flames.
