Hosea 1
1 Ny tenin’ i Jehovah, izay tonga tamin’ i Hosea, zanak’ i Bery, tamin’ ny andro nanjakan’ i Ozia sy Jotama sy Ahaza ary Hezekia, mpanjakan’ ny Joda, sy tamin’ ny andron’ i Jeroboama, zanak’ i Joasy, mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely.
The Lord sent a message to Hosea son of Beeri at the time when Uzziah, Jotham, and Ahaz were the kings of Judah, and Jeroboam son of Jehoash was the king of Israel.
2 Tamin’ ny niandohan’ ny nitenenan’ i Jehovah tamin’ i Hosea dia hoy Jehovah taminy: Andeha ianao maka vady izay efa tena janga sy zanaky ny fijangajangana; fa fatra-pijangajanga miala amin’ i Jehovah ny tany.
The Lord began speaking through Hosea by telling him, “Go and take a wife who is a prostitute and have children born to a prostitute because those living in this land have committed terrible prostitution by turning away from the Lord.”
3 Dia lasa izy naka an’ i Gomera, zanakavavin’ i Diblaima; ary dia nanan’ anaka ravehivavy ka nitera-dahy taminy.
So Hosea went and married Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim. She became pregnant and bore Hosea a son.
4 Ary hoy Jehovah taminy: Ataovy Jezirela no anarany; fa vetivety dia hovaliako ny taranak’ i Jeho noho ny rà nalatsaka tao Jezirela, ary hatsahatro ny fanjakan’ ny taranak’ Isiraely.
The Lord told Hosea, “Call him Jezreel, because I am going to punish the house of Jehu for the blood he shed at Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of Israel.
5 Ary amin’ izany andro izany dia hotapahiko ao amin’ ny tany lemaka Jezirela ny tsipìkan’ Isiraely.
On that day I will break Israel's military power in the valley of Jezreel.”
6 Ary nanan’ anaka indray ravehivavy ka nitera-bavy. Dia hoy Jehovah taminy: Ataovy Lò-rohama no anarany; fa tsy hamindra fo amin’ ny taranak’ Isiraely intsony Aho, eny, tsy havelako mihitsy ny helony.
Gomer became pregnant again and gave birth to a daughter. The Lord told Hosea, “Call her Lo-ruhamah, because I will no longer love the house of Israel and certainly not forgive them.
7 Fa ny taranak’ i Joda no hamindrako fo, ary Izaho Jehovah Andriamaniny no hamonjy azy, nefa tsy amin’ ny tsipìka, na amin’ ny sabatra, na amin’ ny ady, na amin’ ny soavaly, na amin’ ny mpitaingin-tsoavaly.
But I will have pity on the house of Judah, and I will save them—but I will not save them by bow or sword or war or horses and riders.”
8 Ary rehefa notazana Lò-rohama, dia nanan’ anaka indray reniny ka nitera-dahy.
After Gomer had weaned Lo-ruhamah she became pregnant again and gave birth to a son.
9 Dia hoy Jehovah: Ataovy Lò-amy no anarany; fa ianareo tsy oloko, ary Izaho tsy ho Andriamanitrareo.
The Lord told Hosea, “Call him Lo-ammi, because you are not my people and I am not your God.
10 Kanefa, na dia izany aza, ny isan’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely dia ho betsaka toy ny fasika amin’ ny ranomasina, izay tsy azo afatra sady tsy tambo isaina; ary any amin’ ny tany izay nilazana taminy hoe: Tsy oloko ianareo, dia any no hanaovana aminy hoe: Zanak’ Andriamanitra velona ianareo.
Even so the number of the people of Israel will be like the sand on the seashore that cannot be measured or counted. Then right there at the place where they were told ‘you are not my people’ they will be called ‘the children of the living God.’
11 Dia hiara-mivory ny taranak’ i Joda sy ny taranak’ Isiraely ka hifidy anankiray ho lohany izy, dia hiakatra hiala amin’ ny tany, fa ho lehibe ny andron’ i Jezirda.
The people of Israel and the people of Judah will be gathered together and they will choose one leader for themselves and they will take possession of the land, and the day of Jezreel will be great.”
