< Hosea 4 >
1 Mihainoa ny tenin’ i Jehovah, ianareo Zanak’ Isiraely! Fa Jehovah manana ady amin’ ny mponina amin’ ny tany, satria tsy misy fahamarinana, na fitiavana, na fahalalana an’ Andriamanitra eo amin’ ny tany,
Hear the word of the Lord, people of Israel, for the Lord has an accusation against the inhabitants of the land! “There is no faithfulness, no loyalty, and no knowledge of God in the land.
2 Fa fianianana sy lainga sy vonoana sy halatra sy fijangajangana kosa, eny, manao an-keriny izy ka mifanontona ny fandatsahan-drà.
Instead there is only cursing, lying, murdering, stealing, and adultery. They commit violence, and bloodshed follows bloodshed.
3 Ary noho izany dia mitomany ny tany ary reraka izay rehetra mitoetra ao aminy, dia ny bibi-dia sy ny voro-manidina; Eny, na dia ny hazandrano any anaty ranomasina aza dia ringana koa.
As a result the land dries up, and everyone who lives there is wasting away, along with the wild animals and the birds of the sky and the fish of the sea—they are all dying.
4 Kanefa aza misy mandahatra, na mananatra; Fa ny oloko dia efa tahaka ny mifanditra amin’ ny mpisorona.
But no one should accuse or blame anyone else. My quarrel is with you the priests—you are the ones responsible.
5 Ka dia ho tafintohina antoandro ianao, ary ny mpaminany hiara-tafintohina aminao koa amin’ ny alina, ary hovonoiko ny reninao.
Consequently you will stumble in daylight, and the prophet will stumble together with you in the night, and I will destroy your mother.
6 Ringana ny oloko noho ny tsi-fisian’ ny fahalalana. Satria ianao efa nandà ny fahalalana, dia mba holaviko kosa tsy ho mpisoroko intsony; Ary efa nanadino ny lalan’ Andriamanitrao ianao, ka dia mba hohadinoiko kosa ny zanakao.
My people are dying because they don't know me. Because you have refused to know me, I refuse to accept you as my priests. You have forgotten my teachings, so I will forget your children.
7 Araka ny nitomboany no nanotany tamiko, ka dia hampodiko ho henatra kosa ny voninahiny.
The more there were of them, the more they sinned against me, so I will change their glory into shame.
8 Ny fanatitra noho ny ota izay aterin’ ny oloko dia haniny ka satriny ihany ny ho diso ireny.
They feed on the sin of my people, greedy for their iniquity.
9 Ary ho sahala ihany ny hanjo ny olona sy ny mpisorona; Dia hovaliako izy noho ny lalany, ary ny ataony dia hatsingeriko aminy.
So it will be for the people like the priests: I will punish them for what they have done, repaying them for their actions.
10 Ka dia hihinana izy, nefa tsy ho voky, hijangajanga izy, nefa tsy hihabetsaka, satria Jehovah efa tsy nahoany intsony.
They will eat, but they will not be satisfied; they will engage in prostitution, but they will not prosper because they have given up on the Lord to go and prostitute themselves to other gods.
11 Fijangajangana sy divay ary ranom-boaloboka no mahalasa ny saina.
They destroy their minds with old wine and new wine.
12 Ny oloko dia mila saina amin’ ny tapa-kazony, ary ny tehiny no manambara aminy; Fa ny fanahim-pijangajangana no nampania azy, ary lasan-ko janga izy ka tsy manaiky an’ Andriamaniny.
My people consult their wooden idols and their divining rods give them answers, for a spirit of prostitution makes them go astray. Prostituting themselves, they have deserted their God.
13 Eny an-tampon’ ny tendrombohitra no amonoany zavatra hatao fanatitra, ary eny amin’ ny havoana no andoroany ditin-kazo manitra, dia eny ambanin’ ny hazo ôka sy ny popola ary ny terebinta, satria tsara alokaloka ireny; Koa izany no ijejojejoan’ ny zanakavavinareo sy ijangajangan’ ny vinantovavinareo.
They offer sacrifices on the tops of mountains; they burn incense in the hills under the oak, poplar, and terebinth trees where the shade is pleasant. That's the reason why your daughters practice prostitution and your daughters-in-law commit adultery.
14 Tsy hamaly ny zanakavavinareo Aho, raha mijejojejo izy, na ny vinantovavinareo, raha mijangajanga izy; Fa ny tenanareo aza dia miavaka hankamin’ ny mpijangajanga sady mamono zavatra hatao fanatitra miaraka amin’ ireo vehivavy mpanolotena hijangajanga ho fanompoan-tsampy, ka dia ho lavo ny firenena tsy misaina.
I will not punish your daughters when they practice prostitution, nor your daughters-in-law when they commit adultery, because you men visit whores and sacrifice with temple prostitutes. A people who lack understanding end up in disaster.
15 Na dia mijangajanga aza ianao, ry Isiraely. Aoka ny Joda tsy mba hanota; Ary aza mankany Gilgala na miakatra any Betavena ianareo; Ary aza mianiana hoe: Raha velona koa Jehovah!
Though you, Israel, have become a prostitute, may Judah not offend in the same way and not enter Gilgal, nor go up to Beth-aven, nor swear saying, ‘the Lord lives.’
16 Fa ny Isiraely dia maditra toy ny vantotr’ ombivavy maditra; Ankehitriny dia handrasan’ i Jehovah toy ny zanak’ ondry eny amin’ ny malalaka izy.
For Israel is as stubborn as a stubborn cow. Should the Lord then take care of them like a lamb in a wide pasture?
17 Tafaraikitra amin’ ny sampy Efraima; Aoka izy ho eo.
Ephraim is bewitched by idols, so leave him alone!
18 Efa lefy ny divainy; Mahery mijangajanga izy; Fatra-pitia henatra ireo mpanapaka azy.
Once the leaders finish drinking, they go off and find prostitutes to sleep with. They love their shameful acts more than honor.
19 Voapaoky ny elatry ny rivotra izy ka ho menatra noho ny zavatra novonoiny hatao fanatitra.
A wind will carry them away; they will be ashamed of their pagan worship.
