< Genesisy 3 >

1 Ary ny menarana dia fetsy noho ny bibi-dia rehetra izay nataon’ i Jehovah Andriamanitra. Ary hoy izy tamin-dravehivavy: Hanky! efa nataon’ Andriamanitra hoe: Aza ihinananareo ny hazo rehetra amin’ ny saha?
The serpent was more cunning than any of the other wild animals that the Lord God had made. He asked Eve, “Did God really say that you can't eat fruit from every tree in the garden?”
2 Fa hoy ravehivavy tamin’ ny menarana: Ny voan’ ny hazo eo amin’ ny saha dia azonay ihinanana ihany;
Eve replied to the serpent, “We can eat from the trees in the garden, but not the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden.
3 fa ny voan’ ny hazo eo afovoan’ ny saha kosa no efa nataon’ Andriamanitra hoe: Aza hihinanareo na tendrenareo izany, fandrao maty ianareo.
God told us, ‘You mustn't eat from that tree, or even touch it, otherwise you'll die.’”
4 Ary hoy ny menarana tamin-dravehivavy: Tsy ho faty tsy akory ianareo;
“You certainly won't die,” the serpent told Eve.
5 fa fantatr’ Andriamanitra fa na amin’ izay andro hihinananareo azy dia hahiratra ny masonareo, ka ho tahaka an’ Andriamanitra ianareo, hahalala ny ny tsara sy ny ratsy.
“It's because God knows that as soon as you eat it, you'll see things differently, and you'll be like God, knowing both what is good and what is evil.”
6 Ary hitan-dravehivavy fa tsara ho fihinana ny hazo sady mahafinaritra ny maso ary hazo mahatsiriritra hampahahendry, dia nanotazany ny voany ka nihinanany; ary nomeny koa ny vadiny; ka dia nihinana izy.
Eve saw that the fruit of the tree appeared good to eat. It looked very attractive. She really wanted it so she could become wise. So she took some of its fruit and ate it, and she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it too.
7 Dia nahiratra ny mason’ izy mivady, ka fantany fa mitanjaka izy; ary nanjaitra ravin’ aviavy izy, ka nataony sikina ho azy.
Immediately they saw everything differently and realized they were naked. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves up.
8 Ary nandre an’ i Jehovah Andriamanitra nitsangantsangana teo amin’ ny saha izy, rehefa ho hariva ny andro; ary ralehilahy sy ny vadiny niery ny tavan’ i Jehovah Andriamanitra tao anaty hazo tao amin’ ny saha.
Later they heard the Lord walking in the garden in the evening when the breeze was blowing. Adam and Eve went and hid out of sight of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
9 Ary Jehovah Andriamanitra dia niantso an-dralehilahy ka nanao taminy hoe: Aiza moa ianao?
The Lord God called out to Adam, “Where are you?”
10 Dia hoy izy: Nandre Anao tao amin’ ny saha aho; dia natahotra aho, satria mitanjaka, ka dia niery.
“I heard you walking in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid,” he replied.
11 Ary hoy Izy: Iza moa no nanambara taminao fa mitanjaka ianao? Efa nihinanao va ny hazo izay nandrarako anao tsy hihinananao?
“Who told you that you were naked?” asked the Lord God. “Did you eat fruit from the tree I ordered you not to?”
12 Dia hoy ralehilahy: Ny vehivavy izay nomenao ho namako, izy no nanome ahy ny voankazo, ka dia nihinana aho.
“It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit from the tree, and I ate it,” Adam replied.
13 Ary hoy Jehovah Andriamanitra tamin-dravehivavy: Inona izao nataonao izao? Dia hoy ravehivavy: Ny menarana no namitaka ahy, ka dia nihinana aho.
The Lord God asked Eve, “Why have you done this?” “The serpent tricked me, and so I ate it,” she replied.
14 Ary hoy Jehovah Andriamanitra tamin’ ny menarana: Satria nanao izany ianao, koa amin’ ny biby fiompy rehetra sy ny bibi-dia rehetra dia ianao no voaozona: ny kibonao no handehananao, ary vovo-tany no hohaninao amin’ ny andro rehetra hiainanao.
Then the Lord God told the serpent, “Because of what you've done, you are cursed more than any of the other animals. You will slide along on your belly and eat dust as long as you live.
15 Dia hampifandrafesiko ianao sy ny vehivavy ary ny taranakao sy ny taranany: izy hanorotoro ny lohanao, ary ianao kosa hanorotoro ny ombelahin-tongony.
I will make sure you and your children, and the woman and her children, are enemies. One of her children will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
16 Ary hoy koa Izy tamin-dravehivavy: Hahabe dia hahabe ny fahorianao Aho, indrindra fa raha manan’ anaka ianao; ary fahoriana no hiterahanao zanaka; ary ny vadinao no hianteheran’ ny fanirianao, ka izy no hanapaka anao.
He told Eve, “I will make pregnancy much more difficult, and giving birth will be very painful. However, you will still desire your husband, but he will have control over you.”
17 Ary hoy koa Izy tamin’ i Adama: Satria efa nihaino ny feon’ ny vadinao ianao, ka nihinananao ny hazo, izay nandrarako anao hoe: Aza ihinananao izany, dia voaozona ny tany noho izay nataonao; fahoriana no hihinanao ny vokany amin’ ny andro rehetra hiainanao.
He told Adam, “Because you did what your wife told you, and ate fruit from the tree after I ordered you, ‘Don't eat fruit from this tree,’ the ground is now cursed because of you. You will have to work painfully hard to grow food from it throughout your whole life.
18 Ary haniry tsilo sy hery ho anao izy; ary hohaninao ny anana famboly.
It will grow thorns and thistles for you, and you will have to eat wild plants.
19 Ny fahatsembohan’ ny tavanao no hahazoanao hanina mandra-piverinao any amin’ ny tany; fa ny tany no nanalana anao; fa vovoka ianao, ary hiverina ho amin’ ny vovoka indray ianao.
You will have to sweat to grow enough food to eat until you die and return to the ground. For you were made from dust and you will return to dust.”
20 Ary ralehilahy nanao ny anaran’ ny vadiny hoe Eva, satria izy no renin’ ny olombelona rehetra.
Adam named his wife Eve, because she was to be the mother of all human beings.
21 Ary Jehovah Andriamanitra nanao akanjo hoditra ho an’ i Adama sy ny vadiny ka nampiakanjo azy.
The Lord God made Adam and Eve clothes from animal skins and dressed them.
22 Ary hoy Jehovah Andriamanitra: Indro, ny olona efa tonga tahaka ny anankiray amintsika ka hahalala ny tsara sy ny ratsy; ary ankehitriny, andrao haninjitra ny tànany izy ka hakany koa ny hazon’ aina, ary hohaniny, ka ho velona mandrakizay izy;
Then the Lord God observed, “Look, the human beings have become like one of us, knowing both what is good and what is evil. Now if they take the fruit from the tree of life and eat it, then they'll live forever!”
23 ka dia nesorin’ i Jehovah Andriamanitra tamin’ ny saha Edena izy hiasa ny tany izay nanalana azy.
So the Lord God expelled them from the Garden of Eden. He sent Adam to cultivate the ground from which he'd been made.
24 Eny, noroahiny ny olona; ary nampitoeriny tany atsinanan’ ny saha Edena ny kerobima sy ny lelafon’ ny sabatra mihebiheby hiambina ny lalana mankany amin’ ny hazon’ aina.
After he drove them out, the Lord God placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden angels and a sword that flashed in every direction. They were to prevent access to the tree of life.
