1 Dia niainga Jakoba ka nankany amin’ ny tanin’ ny zanaky ny atsinanana.
Then Iaakob lift vp his feete and came into the East countrey.
2 Dia nijery izy, ka, indro, nisy lavaka fantsakana tany an-tsaha, ary, indro, nisy ondry aman’ osy telo, dia nandry teo anilany; fa teo amin’ izany lavaka fantsakana izany no fampisotroan’ ny olona ny andian’ ny ondry aman’ osy; ary lehibe ny vato teo am-bavan’ ny fantsakana.
And as he looked about, behold there was a well in the field, and lo, three flocks of sheepe lay thereby (for at that well were the flockes watered) and there was a great stone vpon the welles mouth.
3 Ary nangonina teo ny andian’ ny ondry aman’ osy rehetra, dia nakodian’ ny olona ny vato hiala amin’ ny vavan’ ny lavaka fantsakana, ka nampisotroiny ny ondry aman’ osy; ary dia naveriny indray ny Vato ho eo am-bavan’ ny lavaka fantsakana ho amin’ ny fitoerany.
And thither were all the flockes gathered, and they rolled the stone from the welles mouth, and watered the sheepe, and put the stone againe vpon the welles mouth in his place.
4 Ary hoy Jakoba tamin’ ny olona: Ry rahalahiko, avy aiza moa ianareo? Ary hoy ireo: Avy any Harana izahay.
And Iaakob sayde vnto them, My brethren, whence be ye? And they answered, We are of Haran.
5 Ary hoy izy taminy: Moa mba fantatrareo va Labana, zanakalahin’ i Nahora? Dia hoy izy: Fantatray ihany.
Then he sayd vnto them, Know ye Laban the sonne of Nahor? Who said, We know him.
6 Ary hoy izy taminy: Tsara ihany va izy? Dia hoy izy: Tsara ihany izy; ary, indro, tamy Rahely zananivavy mitondra ny ondry aman’ osy.
Againe he sayd vnto them, Is he in good health? And they answered, He is in good health, and beholde, his daughter Rahel commeth with the sheepe.
7 Ary hoy izy: Indro, mbola antoandrobe ny andro, ka tsy mbola mby amin’ ny fotoana famoriana ny omby aman’ ondry; ampisotroy ny ondry aman’ osy, dia andeha, andraso.
Then he sayd, Lo, it is yet hie day, neither is it time that the cattell shoulde be gathered together: water ye the sheepe and go feede them.
8 Dia hoy izy: Tsy azonay hatao izany, raha tsy efa tafangona avokoa ny andian’ ny ondry aman’ osy rehetra, ka hakodian’ ny olona ny vato hiala amin’ ny vavan’ ny lavaka fantsakana; dia vao hampisotro ny ondry aman’ osy izahay.
But they sayde, We may not vntill all the flocks be brought together, and till men rolle the stone from the welles mouth, that we may water the sheepe.
9 Raha mbola niteny taminy izy; dia, indro, tamy Rahely nitondra ny ondry aman’ osin-drainy; fa mpiandry ondry izy.
While he talked with them, Rahel also came with her fathers sheepe, for she kept them.
10 Ary rehefa hitan’ i Jakoba Rahely, zanakavavin’ i Labana anadahin-dreniny, sy ny ondry aman’ osin’ i Labana anadahin-dreniny, dia nanatona izy ka nanakodia ny vato hiala tamin’ ny vavan’ ny lavaka fantsakana, dia nampisotro ny ondry aman’ osin’ i Labana anadahin-dreniny izy.
And assoone as Iaakob saw Rahel ye daughter of Laban his mothers brother, and the sheepe of Laban his mothers brother, then came Iaakob neere, and rolled the stone from the welles mouth, and watered ye flocke of Laban his mothers brother.
11 Ary Jakoba nanoroka an-dRahely, dia nanandrata ny feony ka nitomany.
And Iaakob kissed Rahel, and lift vp his voyce and wept.
12 Dia nambaran’ i Jakoba tamin-dRahely fa havan-drainy sy zana-dRebeka izy; dia nihazakazaka Rahely nanambara izany tamin-drainy.
(For Iaakob tolde Rahel, that he was her fathers brother, and that he was Rebekahs sonne) then she ranne and tolde her father.
13 Ary rehefa ren’ i Labana ny filazany an’ i Jakoba, zanak’ anabaviny, dia nihazakazaka nitsena azy izy ka namihina azy sy nanoroka azy ary nitondra azy ho any an-tranony. Dia nambaran’ i Jakoba tamin’ i Labana izany rehetra izany.
And when Laban heard tell of Iaakob his sisters sonne, he ranne to meete him, and embraced him and kissed him, and brought him to his house: and he tolde Laban all these things.
14 Ary hoy Labana taminy: Taolako sy nofoko tokoa ianao. Ary rehefa nitoetra tao aminy andro iray volana Jakoba,
To whome Laban sayd, Well, thou art my bone and my flesh. and he abode with him the space of a moneth.
15 dia hoy Labana taminy: Moa na dia rahalahiko aza ianao, dia hanompo ahy maina va? Lazao amiko izay ho karamanao.
For Laban sayde vnto Iaakob, Though thou be my brother, shouldest thou therfore serue me for nought? tell me, what shalbe thy wages?
16 Ary Labana nanan-janaka roa vavy: Lea no anaran’ ny zokiny, ary Rahely no anaran’ ny zandriny.
Now Laban had two daughters, the elder called Leah, and the yonger called Rahel.
17 Ary Lea nalemy maso; fa Rahely bikàna sady tsara tarehy.
And Leah was tender eyed, but Rahel was beautifull and faire.
18 Ary Jakoba tia an-dRahely ka nanao hoe: Hanompo anao fito taona aho hahazoako an-dRahely, zanakao faravavy.
And Iaakob loued Rahel, and sayde, I will serue thee seuen yeeres for Rahel thy yonger daughter.
19 Ary hoy Labana: Aleoko homena anao izy, toy izay homena lehilahy hafa; tomoera eto amiko.
Then Laban answered, It is better that I giue her thee, then that I should giue her to another man: abide with me.
20 Dia nanompo an’ i Labana fito taona Jakoba hahazoany an-dRahely; ary toa andro vitsy foana teo imasony izany noho ny fitiavany azy.
And Iaakob serued seuen yeres for Rahel, and they seemed vnto him but a few dayes, because he loued her.
21 Ary hoy Jakoba tamin’ i Labana: Aiza ny vadiko, mba hanambadiako azy? fa efa tapitra ny fetr’ androko.
Then Iaakob sayde to Laban, Giue me my wife, that I may goe in to her: for my terme is ended.
22 Ary nampamory ny tompon-tany rehetra Labana ka nanao fanasana.
Wherefore Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.
23 Kanjo nony hariva dia naka an’ i Lea zananivavy izy ka nitondra azy ho any amin’ i Jakoba; dia nanambady azy Jakoba.
But whe the euening was come, he tooke Leah his daughter and brought her to him, and he went in vnto her.
24 Ary nomen’ i Labana an’ i Lea zananivavy Zilpa ankizivaviny hanompo azy.
And Laban gaue his mayde Zilpah to his daughter Leah, to be her seruant.
25 Ary nony efa maraina ny andro, indro fa Lea izy; dia hoy Jakoba tamin’ i Labana: Ahoana izao nataonao tamiko izao? Moa tsy Rahely va no nanompoako anao? Ka nahoana no nofitahinao aho?
But when the morning was come, behold, it was Leah. Then sayde he to Laban, Wherefore hast thou done thus to mee? did not I serue thee for Rahel? wherfore then hast thou beguiled me?
26 Dia hoy Labana: Tsy fanao atỳ amin’ ny taninay ny mamoaka ny zandriny alohan’ ny zokiny.
And Laban answered, It is not the maner of this place, to giue the yonger before the elder.
27 Tanteraho ny herinandron’ ity anankiray ity, dia homenay anao koa ny anankiray noho ny fanompoana izay mbola hanompoanao ahy fito taona indray.
Fulfill seuen yeeres for her, and we wil also giue thee this for the seruice, which thou shalt serue me yet seuen yeeres more.
28 Dia nataon’ i Jakoba izany, ka notanterahiny ny herinandrony; dia nomen’ i Labana azy koa Rahely zananivavy ho vadiny.
Then Iaakob did so, and fulfilled her seuen yeeres, so he gaue him Rahel his daughter to be his wife.
29 Ary nomen’ i Labana an-dRahely zananivavy kosa Bila ankizivaviny hanompo azy.
Laban also gaue to Rahel his daughter Bilhah his mayde to be her seruant.
30 Dia novadin’ i Jakoba koa Rahely; ary izy no tiany mihoatra noho Lea; dia nanompo an’ i Labana fito taona indray izy.
So entred he in to Rahel also, and loued also Rahel more then Leah, and serued him yet seuen yeeres more.
31 Ary rehefa hitan’ i Jehovah fa nankahalaina Lea, dia nampanan’ anaka azy Izy; fa momba kosa Rahely.
When the Lord saw that Leah was despised, he made her fruitful: but Rahel was barren.
32 Dia nanan’ anaka Lea ka niteraka zazalahy, ary ny anarany dia nataony hoe Robena; fa hoy izy: Efa nitsinjo ny fahoriako Jehovah, fa ankehitriny dia ho tian’ ny vadiko aho.
And Leah conceiued and bare a sonne, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Because the Lord hath looked vpon my tribulation, now therefore mine husband will loue me.
33 Dia nanan’ anaka indray izy ka niteraka zazalahy; ary hoy izy: Satria ren’ i Jehovah fa efa nankalahaina aho, dia nomeny ahy koa ity; dia nataony hoe Simeona ny anarany.
And she conceiued againe and bare a sonne, and sayde, Because the Lord heard that I was hated, he hath therefore giuen me this sonne also, and she called his name Simeon.
34 Dia nanan’ anaka indray izy ka niteraka zazalahy; ary hoy izy: Ankehitriny izao dia hikambana amiko ny vadiko, fa efa niteraka zazalahy telo ho azy aho; izany no nanaovana ny anarany hoe Levy.
And she conceiued againe and bare a sonne, and said, Now at this time wil my husband keepe mee company, because I haue borne him three sonnes: therefore was his name called Leui.
35 Dia nanan’ anaka indray izy ka niteraka zazalahy; ary hoy izy: Ankehitriny dia hidera an’ i Jehovah aho; izany no nanaovany ny anarany hoe Joda; dia nitsaha-jaza izy.
Moreouer shee conceiued againe and bare a sonne, saying, Nowe will I prayse the Lord: therefore shee called his name Iudah, and left bearing.
