< Ezra 4 >

1 Ary nony ren’ ny fahavalon’ ny Joda sy ny Benjamina fa ireo efa nody avy tamin’ ny fahababoana dia efa manao tempoly ho an’ i Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely,
And they that afflicted Juda and Benjamin heard, that the children of the captivity were building a house to the Lord God of Israel.
2 dia nanatona an’ i Zerobabela sy ny lohan’ ny fianakaviana izy ka nanao taminy hoe: Aoka mba hiara-manao aminareo izahay, fa mitady an’ Andriamanitrareo tahaka anareo ihany koa izahay, ary ho Azy no namonoanay zavatra hatao fanatitra hatramin’ ny andron’ i Esara-hadona, mpanjakan’ i Asyria, izay efa nampakatra anay ho atỳ.
And they drew near to Zorobabel, and to the heads of families, and said to them, We will build with you; for as you [do], we seek [to serve] our God, and we do sacrifice to him from the days of Asaradan king of Assur, who brought us hither.
3 Fa Zerobabela sy Jesoa mbamin’ ny namany lohan’ ny fianakaviana tamin’ ny Isiraely namaly azy hoe: Tsy misy raharaha hikambananareo aminay amin’ ny hanaovana trano ho an’ Andriamanitray; fa izahay ihany no hanao trano ho an’ i Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely, araka izay efa nandidian’ itompokolahy Kyrosy, mpanjakan’ i Persia, anay.
then Zorobabel, and Jesus and the rest of the heads of the families of Israel said to them, [It is] not for us and you to build a house to our God, for we ourselves will build together to the Lord our God, as Cyrus the king of the Persians commanded us.
4 Ary ny tompon-tany nanao izay hampiraviravy tanana ny Jiosy sy nandevilevy azy mba tsy hanao ny trano
And the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Juda, and hindered them in building,
5 sady nanamby olona hanome hevitra hanohitra azy hahafoana ny heviny hatramin’ ny andro nanjakan’ i Kyrosy tany Persia ka hatramin’ ny nanjakan’ i Dariosy, mpanjakan’ i Persia.
and [continued] hiring [persons] against them, plotting to frustrate their counsel, all the days of Cyrus king of the Persians, and until the reign of Darius king of the Persians.
6 Ary raha vao nanjaka Ahasoerosy, dia nanoratra ho any aminy ireo hanendrikendrika ny mponina tany Joda sy Jerosalema.
And in the reign of Assuerus, even in the beginning of his reign, they wrote a letter against the inhabitants of Juda and Jerusalem.
7 Ary tamin’ ny andron’ i Artaksersesy no nanoratan’ i Bislama sy Mitredata sy Tabela mbamin’ ny namany sisa ho any amin’ i Artaksersesy, mpanjakan’ i Persia; ary ny soratra tamin’ ny taratasy dia nataony tarehin-tsoratra Syriana sady nataony teny Syriana koa.
And in the days of Arthasastha, Tabeel wrote peaceably to Mithradates and to the rest of his fellow-servants: the tribute-gatherer wrote to Arthasastha king of the Persians a writing in the Syrian tongue, and [the same] interpreted.
8 Rehoma mpanolo-tsaina sy Simsay mpanoratra dia nanoratra taratasy ho any amin’ i Artaksersesy mpanjaka hanendrikendrika an’ i Jerosalema toy izao:
Reum the chancellor, and Sampsa the scribe wrote an epistle against Jerusalem to King Arthasastha, [saying, ]
9 Rehoma mpanolo-tsaina sy Simsay mpanoratra ary ny namany sisa, dia ny Dinaïta, ny Afarsatkita, ny Tarpelita, ny Afarsaïta, ny Arkevita, ny Babyloniana, ny Sosanita, ny Dehavita sy ny Elamita,
Thus has judged Reum the chancellor, and Sampsa the scribe, and the rest of our fellow-servants, the Dinaeans, the Apharsathachaeans, the Tarphalaeans, the Apharsaeans, the Archyaeans, the Babylonians, the Susanachaeans, Davaeans,
10 mbamin’ ny firenena sisa izay nentin’ i Asnapara lehibe sady malaza ho babo, ka namponeniny tany an-tanàna Samaria sy tany amin’ ny tany sasany etỳ an-dafin’ ny ony etỳ ......
and the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Assenaphar removed, and settled them in the cities of Somoron, and the rest [of them] beyond the river.
11 Izao no teny amin’ ny taratasy nampitondrainy ho any amin’ i Artaksersesy mpanjaka: Ny lehilahy mpanomponao etỳ an-dafin’ ny ony etỳ ......
This [is] the purport of the letter, which they sent to him: Your servants the men beyond the river to king Arthasastha.
12 Aoka ho fantatry ny mpanjaka fa ny Jiosy, izay niakatra avy tany aminao hankatỳ aminay, dia efa tonga any Jerosalema ka manamboatra ilay tanàna fikomiana sady ratsy, dia mahavita ny mandany izy izao ary manamboatra ny fanorenany koa.
Be it known to the king, that the Jews who came up from you to us have come to Jerusalem the rebellious and wicked city, which they are building, and its walls are set in order, and they have established the foundations of it.
13 Koa aoka ho fantatry ny mpanjaka fa raha hatao io tanàna io, ka hatsangana indray ny mandany, dia tsy hety handoa hetra, na haba, na sara, izy; ka dia hahatonga fatiantoka ho an’ ny fanjakana izany any aoriana.
Now then be it known to the king, that if that city be built up, and its walls completed, you shall have no tribute, neither will they pay [anything], and this injures kings.
14 Koa satria mahazo ny fivelomanay avy amin’ ny lapan’ ny mpanjaka izahay, dia tsy mety raha odianay tsy hita ny fatiantoky ny fanjakana, ka dia efa naniraka hampahafantatra ny mpanjaka izany izahay,
And it is not lawful for us to see the dishonour of the king: therefore have we sent and made known [the matter] to the king;
15 mba hizahana ny boky tantaran’ ny razanao; dia ho hitanao eo amin’ ny boky tantara, ka ho fantatrao fa tanàna fikomiana io tanàna io ka naha-fatiantoka ny mpanjaka sy ny tany maro, sady efa nisy fikomiana niseho tao hatrizay ela izay; koa izany no nandravana io tanàna io.
That examination may be made in your fathers' book of record; and you shall find, and you shall know that city [is] rebellious, and does harm to kings and countries, and there are in the midst of it from very old time refuges for [runaway] slaves: therefore this city has been made desolate.
16 Ary mampahafantatra ny mpanjaka izahay fa raha hamboarina io tanàna io, ka vita ny mandany, dia tsy hanana fanjakana amin’ ny etỳ an-dafin’ ny ony etỳ intsony ianao.
We therefore declare to the king, that, if that city be built, and its walls be set up, you shall not have peace.
17 Dia nampitondrain’ ny mpanjaka ny valiny ho any amin-dRehoma mpanolo-tsaina sy Simsay mpanoratra mbamin’ ny namany sisa izay nonina tany Samaria sy tany amin’ ny tanàna sasany an-dafin’ ny ony, nanao hoe: Fiadanana ......
Then the king sent to Reum the chancellor, and Sampsa the scribe, and the rest of their fellow-servants who lived in Samaria, and the rest beyond the river, [saying, ]Peace; and he says,
18 Ny taratasy izay nampitondrainareo ho atỳ aminay dia efa voavaky tsara teo anatrehako;
The tribute-gatherer whom you sent to us, has been called before me.
19 ary izaho nandidy, ka nasaiko nizahana, dia hita fa nanandra-tena nikomy tamin’ ny mpanjaka maro hatrizay ela izay tokoa io tanàna io, ka nisy fikomiana sy fihodinana niseho teo.
And a decree has been made by me, and we have examined, and found that city of old time exalts itself against kings, and that rebellions and desertions take place within it.
20 Ary efa nisy mpanjaka mahery izay nanjaka tany Jerosalema nanapaka ny tany rehetra any an-dafin’ ny ony ka nandoavana hetra sy haba ary sara.
And there were powerful kings in Jerusalem, and they ruled over all the [country] beyond the river, and abundant revenues and tribute were given to them.
21 Koa dia manaova didy hampitsahatra ireo olona ireo, mba tsy hamboarina io tanàna io, raha tsy mahazo teny avy atỳ amiko.
Now therefore make a decree to stop the work of those men, and that city shall no more be built.
22 Ary tandremo tsara, fandrao misy tsy vitanareo izany; fa nahoana no havela handroso ny ratsy ka hahatonga fatiantoka ho an’ ny fanjakana?
[See] that you be careful of the decree, [not] to be remiss concerning this matter, lest at any time destruction should abound to the harm of kings.
23 Ary rehefa voavaky teo anatrehan-dRehoma mpanolo-tsaina sy Simsay mpanoratra mbamin’ ny namany ny taratasin’ i Artaksersesy mpanjaka, dia niakatra faingana ho any Jerosalema ho any amin’ ny Jiosy izy ka nampitsahatra azy an-keriny.
Then the tribute-gatherer of king Arthasastha read [the letter] before Reum the chancellor, and Sampsa the scribe, and his fellow-servants: and they went in haste to Jerusalem and through Juda, and caused them to cease with horses and an [armed] force.
24 Dia natsahatra tsy natao ny tranon’ Andriamanitra, izay tany Jerosalema; ary mbola nitsahatra ihany izany hatramin’ ny taona faharoa nanjakan’ i Dariosy, mpanjakan’ i Persia.
Then ceased the work of the house of God in Jerusalem, and it was at a stand until the second year of the reign of Darius king of the Persians.
