< Eksodosy 5 >

1 Ary rehefa afaka izany, Mosesy sy Arona dia nankao amin’ i Farao ka niteny taminy hoe: Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely: Alefaso ny oloko mba hanao andro firavoravoana ho Ahy any an-efitra.
After this Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and told him, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says, ‘Let my people go so they can hold a religious festival for me in the desert.’”
2 Fa hoy Farao: Iza moa Jehovah, no hekeko teny handefasako ny Isiraely? tsy fantatro izay Jehovah, ka tsy halefako ny Isiraely.
“Who is this ‘Lord’ that I should listen to his request to let Israel go?” Pharaoh replied. “I don't know the Lord and I certainly won't let Israel leave!”
3 Ary hoy izy roa lahy: Andriamanitry ny Hebreo efa nihaona taminay; koa trarantitra ianao, aoka handeha lalan-kateloana any an-efitra izahay hamono zavatra hatao fanatitra ho an’ i Jehovah Andriamanitray; fandrao Izy hamely anay amin’ ny areti-mandringana, na amin’ ny sabatra.
“The God of the Hebrews came to us,” they added. “Please allow us to go a three days journey into the desert and offer sacrifices to the Lord our God. Otherwise he'll kill us by disease or by the sword.”
4 Ary hoy ny mpanjakan’ i Egypta taminy: Nahoana ianareo, ry Mosesy sy Arona, no manaketraka ny olona amin’ ny asany? mandehana any amin’ ny fanompoanareo mafy.
“Moses and Aaron, why are you trying to take people away from their assigned labor?” Pharaoh asked. “Get back to work!” he ordered.
5 Ary hoy koa Farao: Indro, efa maro ankehitriny ny olona eto amin’ ny tany, ka ianareo mampitsahatra azy amin’ ny fanompoany mafy.
“Look here,” he went on. “There are many of your people here in our country and you are preventing them from doing their assigned labor.”
6 Ary tamin’ izany andro izany Farao nandidy ny mpampiasa ny olona mbamin’ ny mpifehy azy ka nanao hoe:
That very day he ordered the slave drivers and those in charge of the people:
7 Aza omenareo mololo hanaovana biriky tahaka ny teo aloha intsony ny olona; fa izy ihany no aoka handeha hanangona mololo ho azy.
“Don't give them any more straw to make bricks like before. Have them go and collect the straw themselves.
8 Kanefa ny isan’ ny biriky izay fanaony teo aloha dia mbola hampanaovinareo azy ihany, fa aza ahenanareo; fa malaina izy, koa izany no itarainany hoe: Aoka izahay handeha hamono zavatra hatao fanatitra ho an’ Andriamanitray.
But still make them produce the same quantity of bricks as before. They're lazy people—that's why they're calling out, asking, ‘Please let us go and offer sacrifices to our god.
9 Hamafio ny fanompoan’ ny olona mba hifotorany amin’ izany, fa aza avela hihaino izay lainga foana izy.
Make their work harder so they can get on with it and not pay any attention to all these lies!”
10 Dia nivoaka ny mpampiasa ny olona mbamin’ ny mpifehy azy ka niteny tamin’ ny olona nanao hoe: Izao no lazain’ i Farao: Izaho tsy mba hanome mololo anareo intsony;
So the slave drivers and those in charge went out and told the people, “This is what Pharaoh has ordered: ‘I won't give you any more straw.
11 fa mandehana ianareo ka manangona mololo any amin’ izay hahitanareo, satria tsy hahena ny fanompoanareo na dia kely akory aza.
Go and get straw for yourselves wherever you can find it, because your work quota won't be reduced.”
12 Dia niely eran’ ny tany Egypta rehetra ny olona mba hifako vodivary ho solon’ ny mololo.
So the people went all over Egypt collecting stubble for straw.
13 Ary ny mpampiasa nandodona azy ka nanao hoe: Vitao ny asanareo, izay anjara-fanompoana isan’ andro, tahaka ny fony mbola nisy mololo ihany.
The slave drivers kept on forcing them, saying, “You still have to do the same work as you did when you had straw provided!”
14 Ary ny mpifehy ny Zanak’ Isiraely, izay notendren’ ny mpampiasa avy amin’ i Farao mba hifehy azy, dia nokapohina ka nanontaniana hoe: Ahoana no tsy nahavitanareo ny anjaranareo tamin’ ny fanaovana ny biriky omaly sy androany, tahaka ny teo aloha?
They beat the Israelite supervisors they had put in charge, shouting at them, “Why haven't you met your quota of bricks as you did before?”
15 Dia nankao amin’ i Farao ny mpifehy ny Zanak’ Isiraely ka nitaraina taminy hoe: Nahoana no manao toy izany amin’ ny mpanomponao ianao?
The Israelite supervisors went to Pharaoh to complain, saying, “Why are you treating us your servants like this?
16 Tsy omena mololo tsinona izahay mpanomponao, nefa mbola asaina manao biriky ihany; ary, indreto, izahay mpanomponao no kapohina, ka manota ny vahoakanao.
You don't give us any straw but your slave drivers demand that we make bricks, and they beat us! Your people are treating us badly!”
17 Fa hoy Farao: Malaina dia malaina ianareo, ka izany no anaovanareo hoe: Aoka handeha izahay hamono zavatra hatao fanatitra ho an’ i Jehovah.
“No, you're just lazy, lazy people!” Pharaoh replied. “That's why you keep on asking, ‘Please let us go and offer sacrifices to the Lord.’
18 Ary ankehitriny, mandehana, ataovy izay fanompoanareo, fa tsy hisy mololo homena anareo; nefa ny anjara-birikinareo dia mbola hatolotrareo ihany.
Now get out of here and go back to work! You won't be given any straw but you'll still have to produce the full quota of bricks!”
19 Ary hitan’ ny mpifehy ny Zanak’ Isiraely fa efa azon-doza izy noho ny nanaovana hoe: Tsy hahenanareo ny isan’ ny birikinareo amin’ ny anjara-fanompoana isan’ andro.
The Israelite supervisors realized they were in trouble when they were told, “You must not reduce the daily production of bricks.”
20 Ary izy ireo dia nihaona tamin’ i Mosesy sy Arona, izay nijanona niandry azy, raha avy tany amin’ i Farao izy;
They went over to Moses and Aaron who were waiting for them after their meeting with Pharaoh,
21 dia hoy izy tamin’ izy roa lahy: Jehovah anie hijery sy hitsara anareo, satria efa nataonareo mangidy hoditra eo anatrehan’ i Farao sy eo anatrehan’ ny mpanompony izahay, ka nasianareo sabatra eo an-tànany hamonoany anay.
and said, “May the Lord see what you have done and judge you accordingly! You have made us like a bad smell to Pharaoh and his officials. You have put a sword in their hands to kill us!”
22 Ary Mosesy niverina ho any amin’ i Jehovah ka nanao hoe: Tompo ô, nahoana no nahatonga loza tamin’ ity firenena ity Hianao? nahoana re no naniraka ahy Hianao?
Moses went back to the Lord and complained, “Why have you caused all this trouble for your own people, Lord? Was this why you sent me?
23 Fa hatrizay nankanesako tao amin’ i Farao mba hiteny amin’ ny anaranao izay, dia nahatonga loza tamin’ ity firenena ity izy; nefa tsy namonjy ny olonao akory Hianao.
Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak for you, he has been even harder on your people, and you haven't done anything to save them!”
