1 Rehefa afaka izany, nony efa nionona ny fahatezeran’ i Ahasoerosy mpanjaka, dia nahatsiaro an’ i Vasty sy izay efa nataony izy ary ny efa nitsarana azy.

After these things, when the wrath of King Ahasuerus was appeased, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.

2 Ka dia hoy ireo zatovon’ ny mpanjaka izay nanompo azy: Aoka ny mpanjaka hitadiavana zazavavy virijina tsara tarehy;

Then said the young men of the king, who waited upon him, —Let them seek out for the king young virgins, of pleasing appearance;

3 ary aoka ny mpanjaka hanendry olona any amin’ ny isan-tokony eran’ ny ny fanjakany rehetra, dia aoka hovorin’ ireny ny zazavavy virijina tsara tarehy rehetra ho ato Sosana renivohitra ho ao an-tranom-behivavy amin’ ny fehin’ i Hegay, tsindranolahin’ i ny mpanjaka, mpifehy ny vehivavy; ary aoka homena ny zavatra fidiovany izy,

and let the king appoint officers throughout all the provinces of his kingdom, and let them gather together every young virgin of pleasing appearance unto Shusan the palace, unto the house of the women, into the custody of Hegai eunuch of the king, keeper of the women, and let there be given the things needed for their purification;

4 koa izay zazavavy sitraky ny mpanjaka no aoka hanjaka hisolo an’ i Vasty. Dia sitraky ny mpanjaka izany teny izany, ka dia nataony.

and, the maiden that is pleasing in the eyes of the king, let her be queen instead of Vashti. And the thing seemed good in the eyes of the king, and he did so.

5 Ary nisy Jiosy anankiray tany Sosana renivohitra. Mordekay no anarany, zanak’ i Jaïra, zanak’ i Simey, zanak’ i Kisy, avy tamin’ ny taranak’ i Benjamina,

A certain Jew, there was, in Shusan the palace, —whose, name, was Mordecai, son of Jair, son of Shimei, son of Kish, a man of Benjamin;

6 izay efa nentina ho babo avy tany Jerosalema tamin’ ny babo izay nentina niaraka tamin’ i Jekonia, mpanjakan’ ny Joda, izay nobaboin’ i Nebokadnezara, mpanjakan’ i Babylona.

who had been exiled from Jerusalem, with the exiles who were carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah, —whom, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, exiled.

7 Ary izy nitaiza an’ i Hadasa (Estera izany), zanakavavin’ ny rahalahin-drainy, izay tsy nanana ray sy reny intsony; ary razazavavy dia soa sady tsara tarehy, ary noraisin’ i Mordekay ho zanany izy, rehefa maty rainy sy reniny.

And it came to pass, that he was bringing up Hadassah, the same, was Esther, his uncle’s daughter, for she had neither father nor mother, —and, the maiden, was of beautiful form and pleasing appearance, and when her father and mother died, Mordecai took her for his own daughter.

8 Koa nony re ny tenin’ ny mpanjaka sy ny lalàny, ka voavory tany Sosana renivohitra ny zazavavy maro ho andin’ ny fehin’ i Hegay, dia mba nentina ho ao an-tranon’ ny mpanjaka koa Estera ho amin’ ny fehin’ i Hegay, mpifehy ny vehivavy.

So it came to pass, when the king’s command and decree was heard, and there had been gathered together many maidens unto Shusan the palace, unto the custody of Hegai, that Esther was taken into the house of the king, unto the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women;

9 Ary nahafaly azy razazavavy ka nahita fitia teo imasony; dia nomeny faingana an-drazazavavy ny zavatra fidiovany sy ny anjara-haniny ary ny ankizivavy fito izay voafantina homena azy avy tao an-tranon’ ny mpanjaka; ary nafindrany ho ao amin’ ny fitoerana tsara indrindra ao an-tranom-behivavy izy sy ny ankizivaviny.

and the maiden was pleasing in his eyes, and she received lovingkindness before him, and he hastened to give her, the things needed for her purification, and things apportioned her, and to give her, seven select maidens, out of the house of the king, —and he removed her and her maidens to the best place in the house of the women.

10 Nefa Estera tsy mbola nilaza ny fireneny na ny fianakaviany, satria nopeperan’ i Mordekay mba tsy hilaza izany izy.

Esther had not told of her people, nor of her kindred, —for, Mordecai, had laid charge upon her, that she should not tell.

11 Ary Mordekay nitsangantsangana isanandro teo anoloan’ ny kianjan’ ny tranom-behivavy, mba hahafantarany izay toetran’ i Estera sy izay anaovana azy.

And, throughout every day, Mordecai, used to walk to and fro, before the court of the house of the women, —to get to know the welfare of Esther, and what would be done with her.

12 Ary nony tonga ny andro hidiran’ ny zazavavy tsirairay isan’ andro tany amin’ i Ahasoerosy mpanjaka, rehefa tapitra taminy ny roa ambin’ ny folo volana, araka ny fomba fanomanana ny vehivavy (fa tapitra tamin’ izay ny andro fidiovany, dia enim-bolana tamin’ ny diloilo nisy miora, ary enim-bolana tamin’ ny zava-manitra sy ny zavatra sasany koa fidiovan’ ny vehivavy),

Now, when the turn of each maiden came, to go in unto King Ahasuerus, after it had been done to her according to the law of the women for twelve months, for, so, were filled the days of their purification, —six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with perfumes, and with things for the purification of the women,

13 koa nony hiditra ao amin’ ny mpanjaka ny zazavavy tamin’ izany, dia nomena azy izay rehetra nilainy ho entiny avy amin’ ny tranom-behivavy ho ao an-tranon’ ny mpanjaka.

then, indeed, the maiden came in unto the king, —whatsoever she might mention, was given her, to go with her, out of the house of the women up to the house of the king:

14 Tamin’ ny hariva no nandeha izy, ary nony maraina dia niverina izy ho ao an-trano faharoa nitoeran’ ny vehivavy, ho amin’ ny fehin’ i Sasegaza, tsindranolahin’ i ny mpanjaka, mpitandrina ny vaditsindrano; ary tsy mba niditra tao amin’ ny mpanjaka intsony izy, raha tsy tian’ ny mpanjaka, ka voatonona ny anarany.

in the evening, she went in, and, in the morning, she returned—unto the second house of the women, unto the custody of Shaashgaz the king’s eunuch, who kept the concubines, —she went not in again unto the king, except the king delighted in her, and she were called by name.

15 Ary rehefa tonga ny anjara-andron’ i Estera, zanakavavin’ i Abihaila, rahalahin-drain’ i Mordekay izay efa nandray azy ho zananivavy, hidirany ao an-tranon’ ny mpanjaka, dia tsy nila na inona na inona izy mihoatra noho izay notononin’ i Hegay, tsindranolahin’ i ny mpanjaka, mpitandrina ny vehivavy. Ary Estera nahita fitia teo imason’ ny olona rehetra izay nijery azy.

But, when the turn came for Esther daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai—who had taken her as his own daughter—to go in unto the king, she requested nothing, save what Hegai the king’s eunuch who kept the women might direct, —but so it was, that Esther obtained favour in the eyes of all who beheld her.

16 Dia nentina ho ao amin’ i Ahasoerosy mpanjaka Estera, ho ao an-tranon’ ny fanjakana, tamin’ ny volana fahafolo (volana Tebeta izany) tamin’ ny taona fahafito nanjakany.

So then Esther was taken unto King Ahasuerus, into his royal house, in the tenth month, the same, was the month Tebeth, —in the seventh year of his reign.

17 Ary tian’ ny mpanjaka mihoatra noho ny vehivavy rehetra Estera, ka nahita fitia sy sitraka teo imasony mihoatra noho ny virijina rehetra izy, ka dia nosatrohany ny satro-boninahitry ny fanjakana izy ka nampanjakainy hisolo an’ i Vasty.

And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained favour and lovingkindness before him, above all the virgins, —so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen, instead of Vashti.

18 Ary ny mpanjaka nanao fanasana lehibe ho an’ ny mpanapaka rehetra sy ny mpanompony, dia fanasan’ i Estera izany; ary nanendry andro fifaliana ho an’ ny fanjakana rehetra isan-tokony izy sady nanome zavatra araka ny fanomen’ ny mpanjaka.

Then the king made a great banquet, for all his rulers and his servants, the banquet of Esther, —and, a remission, for all the provinces, made he, and gave a present, according to the bounty of a king.

19 Ary raha nisy virijina novorina fanindroany, dia nipetraka teo am-bavahadin’ ny mpanjaka Mordekay.

Now, when virgins were gathered together second time, then, Mordecai, was sitting in the gate of the king.

20 Nefa Estera tsy mbola nilaza izay fianakaviany na izay fireneny, araka ilay nameperan’ i Mordekay azy ihany; fa ny tenin’ i Mordekay dia nankatoavin’ i Estera tahaka ny fony Izy mbola nitaiza azy ihany.

Esther had not told of her kindred, nor her people, as, Mordecai, had laid charge upon her, —and, the command of Mordecai, Esther performed, like as when she was being brought up with him.

21 Tamin’ izany andro izany, raha Mordekay nipetraka teo am-bavahadin’ ny mpanjaka, dia tezitra Bigtana sy Taresy, roa lahy isan’ ny tsindranolahin’ i ny mpanjaka, dia ilay mpiambina teo am-baravarana, ka nitady hamono an’ i Ahasoerosy mpanjaka izy.

In those days, when, Mordecai, was sitting in the gate of the king, Bigthan and Teresh, two of the eunuchs of the king who guarded the threshold, were wroth, and sought to thrust a hand upon King Ahasuerus;

22 Ary fantatr’ i Mordekay izany ka nambarany tamin’ i Estera, vadin’ ny mpanjaka; dia nambaran’ i Estera tamin’ ny mpanjaka kosa izany araka ny nampilazain’ i Mordekay azy.

but the thing became known to Mordecai, who told it unto Esther the queen, —and Esther told it unto the king, in the name of Mordecai.

23 Atỳ rehefa nodinihina izany zavatra izany, dia, indro, marina; ka dia nahantona tamin’ ny hazo izy roa lahy; ary nosoratana tao amin’ ny bokin’ ny tantara teo anatrehan’ ny mpanjaka izany.

And, when the thing was searched into and found [true], then were they two hanged upon the gallows, and it was written, in the book of the chronicles, before the king.
