< Mpitoriteny 11 >
1 Atsipazo eny ambonin’ ny rano ny haninao, fa ho hitanao ihany izy rehefa ela.
Cast thy bread-corn, upon the face of the waters, —for, after many days, shalt thou find it:
2 Samy omeo anjara ny fito, ary na dia ny valo aza, fa tsy fantatrao izay fahoriana hanjo atỳ ambonin’ ny tany.
Give a portion to seven, yea even to eight, —for thou canst not know, what there shall be of misfortune, upon the earth.
3 Raha feno ranonorana ny rahona, dia halatsany amin’ ny tany izany; ary na mianjera mianatsimo na mianavaratra ny hazo, dia eo amin’ izay ianjerany ihany no handriany.
If the clouds be filled with a downpour, upon the earth, will they empty themselves, and, if a tree fall in the south or in the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there will it be found.
4 Izay fatra-pihevitra ny rivotra tsy hamafy, ary izay manahy ny rahona tsy hijinja.
He that observeth the wind, will not sow, —and, he that watcheth the clouds, will not reap.
5 Toy ny tsy ahafantaranao ny amin’ ny alehan’ ny rivotra, na ny amin’ ny fitombon’ ny taolana ao an-kibon’ izay manan’ anaka, dia toy izany no tsy ahafantaranao ny asan’ Andriamanitra, Mpanao ny zavatra rehetra.
Just as thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, when the body is in the womb of her that is with child, even, so, canst thou not know the work of God, who maketh all.
6 Amin’ ny maraina dia afafazo ny voanao, ary amin’ ny hariva dia aza atsahatra ny tananao; fa tsy fantatrao izay ho vanona, na ny teo aloha, na ny teo aoriana, na angamba samy ho vanona avokoa izy roa tonta.
In the morning, sow thy seed, and, until evening, do not withhold thy hand, —for thou knowest not—whether shall thrive, either this or that, or whether, both alike, shall be fruitful.
7 Mamy tokoa ny mazava, ary mahafinaritra ny maso ny mijery ny masoandro;
Truly sweet is the light, —and, pleasant to the eyes, to see the sun:
8 fa na dia ela velona aza ny olona, dia aoka ho faly amin’ ny androny rehetra izy ka hahatsiaro ny andro maizina, fa ho maro ireny: izay rehetra ho avy dia zava-poana.
But, though, many years, a man live, through them all, let him rejoice; yet let him remember the days of darkness, for many they may be, all that cometh, may be vanity.
9 Mifalia, ry zatovo, dieny mbola tanora ianao; ary aoka ny fonao hampifalifaly anao amin’ ny andro fahatanoranao; ka mandehana any amin’ izay sitraky ny fonao sy izay jeren’ ny masonao; nefa aoka ho fantatrao fa ho entin’ Andriamanitra hotsaraina ianao amin’ izany rehetra izany.
Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth, and let thy heart gladden thee in the days of thine early manhood, and walk thou—in the ways of thine own heart, and in that which is seen by thine own eyes, —yet know, that, for all these things, will God bring thee into judgment.
10 Koa esory ao am-ponao ny alahelo, ary avilio tsy hikasika ny nofonao ny ratsy; fa ny fahatanorana sy ny fahatanjahana dia samy zava-poana.
Therefore remove thou vexation from thy heart, and put away discomfort from thy flesh, —for, youth and dawn, are vanity!
