Deotoronomia 8
1 Ny lalàna rehetra izay andidiako anao anio dia tandremo harahinareo, mba ho velona ianareo ka hihamaro ary hiditra sady handova ny tany izay nianianan’ i Jehovah tamin’ ny razanareo homena azy.
All the commandment which I am commanding thee to-day, shalt thou, observe, to do, —that ye may, live, and multiply, and enter in and possess the land, which Yahweh sware unto your fathers.
2 Ary tsarovy ny lalana rehetra izay nitondran’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrao anao tany an-efitra izao efa-polo taona izao, hampanetry tena anao sy hizaha toetra anao ary hahalala izay ao am-ponao, na hitandrina ny didiny ianao, na tsia.
So then, thou shalt remember all the way in which Yahweh thy God caused thee to journey these forty years in the desert, —that he might humble thee to put thee to the proof to know what was in thy heart, —whether thou wouldest keep his commandments or not.
3 Dia nampanetry tena anao Izy ka namela anao ho noana, dia nanome anao ny mana hohaninao, izay tsy fantatrao na ny razanao, hampahafantarany anao fa tsy mofo ihany no iveloman’ ny olona; fa izay rehetra aloaky ny vavan’ i Jehovah no iveloman’ ny olona.
So he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna which thou hadst not known, neither had thy fathers known, —that he might lead thee to consider that not on bread alone, shall the son of earth live, but on whatsoever cometh from the bidding of Yahweh, shall the son of earth live.
4 Ny fitafianao teny aminao tsy rovitra, ary ny tongotrao tsy nivonto izao efa-polo taona izao.
Thy mantle, hath not fallen with age from off thee, and, thy foot, hath not become swollen, —these forty years.
5 Koa aoka ho fantatrao amin’ ny fonao, fa tahaka ny fananaran’ ny olona ny zanany no fananaran’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrao anao.
Thou must consider, then with thy heart, —that as a man chasteneth his son, Yahweh thy God, hath been chastening thee.
6 Ary tandremo ny didin’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrao, mba handehananao amin’ ny lalany sy hatahoranao Azy.
Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments of Yahweh thy God, —to walk in his ways and to revere him.
7 Fa Jehovah Andriamanitrao efa hampiditra anao any amin’ ny tany soa, dia tany misy renirano sy loharano ary rano lalina eny amin’ ny lohasaha sy ny tendrombohitra,
For, Yahweh thy God, is bringing thee into a good land; a land of ravines of water, of fountains and depths, coming forth in valley, and in mountain:
8 tany misy vary tritika sy vary hordea sy voaloboka sy aviavy ary ampongabendanitra, tany misy hazo oliva sy tantely,
a land of wheat and barley, and vine and fig-tree, and pomegranate, —a land of olive oil, and honey:
9 tany izay hihinananao hanina amin’ ny fanaranam-po, sady tsy hanan-java-mahory akory eo ianao, tany misy vy ny vato ao aminy, ary ao amin’ ny tendrombohiny no hihadianao varahina.
a land wherein not in scarcity, shalt thou eat food, thou shalt lack nothing therein, —a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest hew copper.
10 Ary rehefa nihinana ianao ka voky ary misaotra an’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrao noho ny tany soa izay nomeny anao,
So then thou shalt eat and be satisfied, —and bless Yahweh thy God, for the good land which he hath given unto thee.
11 dia mitandrema, fandrao hadinoinao Jehovah Andriamanitrao, ka tsy tandremanao ny didiny sy ny fitsipiny ary ny lalàny, izay andidiako anao anio;
Take heed to thyself, lest thou forget Yahweh thy God, —so as not to keep his commandments and his regulations and his statutes, which I am commanding thee to-day;
12 fandrao, rehefa nihinana ianao ka voky ary nanao trano tsara ka mitoetra ao,
lest thou eat, and be satisfied, —and goodly houses, thou build and inhabit;
13 ary mihamaro ny ombinao sy ny ondry aman’ osinao, ary mitombo koa ny volafotsinao sy ny volamenanao, ary mitombo ny fanananao rehetra,
and thy herd and thy flock, increase, and silver and gold, increase unto thee, —and all that thou hast, increase;
14 dia hiavonavona ny fonao, ka hohadinoinao Jehovah Andriamanitrao, Izay nitondra anao nivoaka avy tany amin’ ny tany Egypta, tamin’ ny trano nahandevozana,
and so thy heart be lifted up, —and thou forget Yahweh thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt out of the house of servants;
15 Izay nitondra anao tany amin’ ny efitra lehibe sady mahatahotra, izay misy menaran’ afo sy maingoka, dia ny tany mangentana tsy misy rano, ary nampivoaka rano ho anao avy tamin’ ny vatolampy afovato,
who caused thee to journey through the great and terrible desert, of fiery serpents and scorpions, and thirsty wastes where was no water, —who brought forth for thee water out of the flinty rock;
16 Izay nanome anao mana hohanina tany an-efitra, dia zavatra tsy fantatry ny razanao, mba hampanetry tena anao sy hizaha toetra anao ary hanisy soa anao any am-parany;
who fed thee with manna in the desert, which thy fathers had not known, —that he might humble thee, and that he might put thee to the proof, to do thee good in thy hereafter,
17 ary andrao ianao hanao anakampo hoe: Ny tanjako sy ny herin’ ny tanako no nahavoriako izao harena izao;
and lest thou shouldest say in thy heart, —Mine own strength and the might of mine own hand, have gotten me this wealth.
18 fa tsarovy Jehovah Andriamanitrao, fa Izy no manome anao hery hahavory harena, mba haoriny ny fanekeny, izay nianianany tamin’ ny razanao, tahaka ny amin’ izao anio izao.
But thou shalt remember Yahweh thy God, that it was, he, who had been giving thee strength to get wealth, —that so he might establish his covenant which he sware to thy fathers (as at this day).
19 Fa raha manadino an’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrao mihitsy ianao ka manaraka izay andriamani-kafa sady manompo azy sy miankohoka eo anatrehany, dia milaza aminareo marimarina aho fa haringana tokoa ianareo:
But it shall be if thou forget, Yahweh thy God, and go after ether gods, and serve them, and bow thyself down to them, I testify against you to-day, that ye shall perish:
20 tahaka ny andringanana ny firenen-tsamy hafa, izay aringan’ i Jehovah eo anoloanareo, no handringanana anareo, satria tsy nihaino ny feon’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrareo ianareo.
like the nations which, Yahweh, is causing to perish from before you, so, shall ye perish, because ye would not hearken unto the voice of Yahweh your God.
