< Deotoronomia 2 >

1 Dia niverina isika ka nandeha tany an-efitra tamin’ ny lalana mankany amin’ ny Ranomasina Mena, araka izay nolazain’ i Jehovah tamiko; ary nanodidina ny tendrombohitra Seïra ela ihany isika.
Then turned we, and set forward towards the desert by way of the Red Sea, as Yahweh, spake unto me; and we encompassed Mount Seir many days.
2 Dia niteny tamiko Jehovah ka nanao hoe:
And Yahweh spake unto me, saying:
3 Aoka izay ny nandehananareo nanodidina ity tendrombohitra ity, fa miverena hianavaratra ianareo.
Long enough, have ye encompassed this mountain, —turn yourselves north, wards.
4 Ary mandidia ny olona hoe: Hianareo efa handeha hamaky ny tanin’ ny taranak’ i Esao rahalahinareo, izay monina any Seïra; dia hatahotra anareo izy; nefa mitandrema tsara ianareo,
And, the people, command thou saying, Ye are about to pass through the boundary of your brethren the sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, —and should they be afraid of you, take ye good heed to yourselves:
5 ka aza mila ady aminy; fa tsy hanomezako anao ny taniny, na dia eram-paladia akory aza, satria nomeko ho lovan’ i Esao ny tendrombohitra Seïra.
do not engage in strife with them, for I will not give you of their land, so much as place for the tread of a foot-sole, —for as a possession to Esau, have I given Mount Seir.
6 Vola no hamidinareo hanina aminy hohaninareo; ary vola koa no hamidinareo rano aminy hosotroinareo.
Food, shall ye buy of them with silver so shall ye eat, —yea even water, shall ye buy of them with silver so shall ye drink.
7 Fa Jehovah Andriamanitrao efa nitahy anao tamin’ izay rehetra nataon’ ny tananao; fantany ny nandehananao namaky ity efitra lehibe ity; izay efa-polo taona izay Jehovah Andriamanitrao no teo aminao, ka tsy nanan-java-mahory akory ianao.
For Yahweh thy God, hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hand, he hath considered thy traversing of this great desert, —these forty years, hath Yahweh thy God been with thee, thou hast lacked, nothing.
8 Ary raha nandalo ny taranak’ i Esao rahalahintsika izay monina any Seïra isika ary niala tamin’ ny lalana amin’ ny tani-hay sy tao Elata ary Ezion-gebera, dia nivily isika ka nandeha tamin’ ny lalana mankany amin’ ny efitr’ i Moaba.
So we passed on, a way from our brethren the sons of Esau who dwell in Seir, from the way of the waste plain, from Elath, and from Ezion-geber, —and we turned and passed on by way of the desert of Moab.
9 Dia hoy Jehovah tamiko: Aza mandrafy ny Moabita, na mila ady aminy, fa tsy hanomezako ho lovanao ny taniny, satria Ara dia nomeko ho lovan’ ny taranak’ i Lota.
And Yahweh said unto me—Do not lay siege to Moab, nor engage in strife with them in battle, —for I will not give unto thee of this land as a possession, for unto the sons of Lot, have I given Ar, as a possession.
10 (Ny Emima nonina tany fahiny, dia firenena lehibe sy maro isa ary olona lava tahaka ny Anakita.
the Emim, formerly dwelt therein, —a people great and many and tall, like the Anakim.
11 Ireo koa no natao ho Refaïta tany aloha tahaka ny Anakita; fa ny Moabita kosa nanao azy hoe Emima.
Giants, used, they also, to be accounted like the Anakim, —but the Moabites, called them Emim.
12 Ary ny tany Seïra dia nonenan’ ny Horita, fa ny taranak’ i Esao nandroaka azy ka nandringana azy tsy ho eo anoloany, dia nonina nisolo azy, araka ny nataon’ ny Isiraely tao amin’ ny tany izay nomen’ i Jehovah azy ho lovany.)
And in Seir, dwelt the Horim aforetime, but, the sons of Esau, dispossessed them, and destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead, —as did Israel unto the land of his own possession, which Yahweh had given unto them.
13 Ary miaingà ianareo ankehitriny, ka mandehana mita ny lohasahan-driaka Zareda. Dia nita ny lohasahan-driaka Zareda isika.
Now, arise, and pass ye over the ravine of Zered. So we passed over the ravine of Zered.
14 Ary ny andro nandehanantsika hatrany Kadesi-barnea ka hatramin’ ny nitantsika ny lohasahan-driaka Zareda dia valo amby telo-polo taona, mandra-pahalany ritran’ ny mpanafika rehetra tamin’ izany taranaka rehetra izany ka tsy nisy intsony teo amin’ ny toby, araka izay efa nianianan’ i Jehovah taminy.
Now, the days in which we journeyed from Kadesh-barnea, as far as where we crossed the ravine of Zered, were thirty-eight years, —until all the generation of the men of war were consumed out of the midst of the camp, as Yahweh had sworn unto them.
15 Ary koa, ny tànan’ i Jehovah dia namely azy handringanana azy mandra-pahalany ritrany ka tsy nisy intsony teo amin’ ny toby.
Yea, even the hand of Yahweh was against them, to destroy them out of the midst of the camp, —until they were consumed.
16 Ary rehefa lany ritra ny mpanafika ka maty avokoa,
So it came to pass when all the men of war were consumed by dying, out of the midst of the people,
17 dia niteny tamiko Jehovah ka nanao hoe:
then spake Yahweh unto me, saying:
18 Ankehitriny efa hamaky ny tany Moaba ianao ka hahazo any Ara,
Thou, art passing, to-day, the boundary of Moab even Ar;
19 dia ho tonga ao akaikin’ ny taranak’ i Amona, nefa aza mandrafy azy, na mila ady aminy; fa tsy hanomezako ho lovanao ny tanin’ ny taranak’ i Amona, satria nomeko ho lovan’ ny taranak’ i Lota izany.
so wilt thou draw near over against the sons of Ammon, do not thou besiege them neither engage in strife with them, —for I will not give of the land of the sons of Ammon unto thee as a possession, for unto the sons of Lot, have I given it as a possession.
20 (Izany koa no natao ho tanin’ ny Refaïta; fa ny Refaïta no nitoetra tao tany aloha ka nataon’ ny Amonita hoe Zamzomita.
A land of giants, used, that also, to be accounted, —giants, dwelt therein aforetime, but the Ammonites, called them Zamzummim:
21 Firenena lehibe sy maro isa ary olona lava tahaka ny Anakita ireny, nefa naringan’ i Jehovah tsy ho eo anoloany izy, ka ny Amonita no nonina nisolo azy,
a people great and many and tall, like the Anakim, —but Yahweh destroyed them from before them, and they took their possessions, and dwelt in their stead:
22 araka izay nataony koa ho an’ ny taranak’ i Esao, izay mitoetra any Seïra, fa nandringana ny Horita tsy ho eo anoloany Izy, ka dia nandroaka azy ireo ka nonina nisolo azy mandraka androany;
as he did for the sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, —when he destroyed the Horim from before them, and they took their possessions and have dwelt in their stead, even unto this day.
23 ary ny amin’ ny Avita, izay nonina am-bohitra hatrany Gaza, dia naringan’ ny Kaftorita, izay avy tany Kaftora, izy; ary ireo no nonina nisolo azy).
The Avvim also, who dwelt in settlements as far as Gaza, Caphtorim, who were coming forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.
24 Mitsangàna, miaingà, ka mità ny lohasahan-driaka Arnona ianareo; indro, efa natolotro eo an-tananao Sihona Amorita, mpanjakan’ i Hesbona, mbamin’ ny taniny. Santaro ny handovanao azy, ka tafiho.
Arise ye, set forward and cross over the ravine of Arnon, see! I have given into thy hand—Sihon king of Heshbon, the Amorite and his land, begin—take possession, —and engage in strife with him in battle.
25 Anio no vao hataoko mahazo ny firenena ambanin’ ny lanitra rehetra ny horohoro sy tahotra anareo, ka raha reny ny lazanao, dia hangovitra sy hangorohoro eo anoloanao izy.
This day, will I begin to extend the dread of thee and the fear of thee over the face of the peoples under all the heavens, —who will hear the report of thee, then will they quake and writhe in pain because of thee.
26 Dia naniraka olona avy tany an-efitr’ i Kedemota aho hankany amin’ i Sihona, mpanjakan’ i Hesbona, nitondra teny fihavanana hoe:
So I sent messengers out of the desert of Kademoth, unto Sihon, king of Heshbon, —with words of peace saying:
27 Aoka mba handeha hamaky ny taninao aho; ny lalambe ihany no halehako, ka tsy hivily aho, na ho amin’ ny ankavanana, na ho amin’ ny ankavia;
I would pass along through thy land, by the road, by the road, will I go, —I will not turn aside, to the right hand or to the left:
28 vola no hamidiko hanina aminao hohaniko, ary vola no hamidiko rano aminao hosotroiko; ary handalo fotsiny ihany aho
Food for silver, shalt thou sell me so will I eat, and water for silver, shalt thou let me have, so will I drink, —only I would pass through on my feet; —
29 (araka izay nataon’ ny taranak’ i Esao, izay monina any Moabita, izay monina any Ara, tamiko) mandra-pitako an’ i Jordana ho any amin’ ny tany izay omen’ i Jehovah Andriamanitray anay.
as the sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, did to me, and the Moabites who are dwelling in Ar, —until that I pass over the Jordan, into the land which, Yahweh our God, is giving unto us.
30 Fa Sihona, mpanjakan’ i Hesbona, tsy nety namela antsika handeha hamaky ny taniny; fa Jehovah Andriamanitrao nanamafy ny fony sy nampahaditra ny fanahiny, mba hanolorany azy eo an-tananao tahaka ny amin’ izao anio izao.
But Sihon king of Heshbon, was not willing, to let us pass along through it, —for Yahweh thy God had suffered him to make his spirit harsh and his heart bold, that he might give him into thy hand—(as [appeareth] this day).
31 Dia niteny tamiko hoe Jehovah: Indro, vao manomboka hanolotra an’ i Sihona sy ny taniny eo anoloanao Aho; santaro ny handovanao ny taniny.
Then said Yahweh unto me, See! I have begun to deliver up before thee Sihon and his land, —begin take possession, that thou mayest make a possession of his land.
32 Dia nivoaka Sihona mbamin’ ny vahoakany rehetra hiady amintsika tao Jahaza.
So then Sihon came out to meet us he, and all his people, to give battle at Jahaz.
33 Dia nanolotra azy teo anoloantsika Jehovah Andriamanitsika, ka nandresy azy sy ny zanany ary ny vahoakany rehetra isika.
And Yahweh our God delivered him up before us, —and we smote him and his sons, and all his people
34 Ary nahafaka ny tanànany rehetra tamin’ izany andro izany isika ka nandringana ny mponina rehetra tamin’ ny isan-tanàna mbamin’ ny zaza amim-behivavy; tsy nasiantsika niangana izy na dia iray akory aza.
And we captured all his cities, at that time, and devoted to destruction every city of males, with the women and the little ones, —we left not remaining a survivor:
35 Ny biby fiompy sy ny fananany tao amin’ ny tanàna izay afatsika ihany no nataontsika ho babo.
only the cattle, made we our prey, —and the spoil of the cities which we captured.
36 Hatrany Aroera, izay eo amoron’ ny lohasahan-driaka Arnona, dia hatramin’ ny tanàna izay ao an-dohasaha ka hatrany Gileada, dia tsy nisy tanàna tsy afatsika; fa izy rehetra dia natolotr’ i Jehovah Andriamanitsika teo anoloantsika.
From Aroer, which is on the edge of the ravine of Arnon and the city that is in the ravine even as far as Gilead, there was not a fortress that proved too high for us, —the whole, did Yahweh our God deliver up before us.
37 Kanefa ny tanin’ ny taranak’ i Amona no tsy nakekenareo, dia ny tany amoron’ ny lohasahan-driaka Jaboka, sy ny tanàna ao amin’ ny tany havoana, ary izay rehetra nandraran’ i Jehovah Andriamanitsika antsika.
Only unto the land of the sons of Ammon, didst thou not come near, —all the side of the Jabbok ravine, nor the cities of the hill country, nor any which Yahweh our God had forbidden to us.
