< Asan'ny Apostoly 25 >
1 Ary Festosy, nony tonga teo amin’ ny zara-fanapahany, dia niala tany Kaisaria hiakatra any Jerosalema, rehefa afaka hateloana.
Festus therefore having come into the province, after three days went up from Caesarea to Jerusalem.
2 Ary ny lohan’ ny mpisorona sy ny olona manan-kaja tamin’ ny Jiosy nanambara taminy izay niampangany an’ i Paoly sady niangavy taminy
And the chief priests and the leaders of the Jews brought a complaint before him against Paul, and besought him,
3 ka nangataka azy hohelohina, mba hampanalainy hankany Jerosalema; fa nikasa hanotrika eny amoron-dalana izy hamonoany azy.
asking for themselves a favor against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, intending to place men in wait to kill him on the road.
4 Ary Festosy namaly fa Paoly dia ambenana any Kaisaria, sady izy koa efa hankany faingana.
But Festus answered that Paul was in custody at Caesarea, and that he himself was going thither shortly.
5 Koa izay manam-pahefana eo aminareo, hoy izy, no aoka hiara-midìna amiko ka hiampanga an-dralehilahy, raha manan-keloka izy.
Let those therefore, said he, who have authority among you, go down with me and accuse this man, if he is guilty of anything.
6 Ary rehefa nitoetra teo aminy tsy mihoatra noho ny havaloana na hafoloana izy, dia nidina nankany Kaisaria; ary nony ampitso dia nipetraka teo amin’ ny fitsarana izy, ka nasainy halaina Paoly.
And having tarried among them not more than eight or ten days, he went down to Caesarea; and on the morrow, sitting on the judgment-seat, ordered Paul to be brought.
7 Ary nony tonga izy, dia nitsangana manodidina azy ny Jiosy izay nidina avy tany Jerosalema, ka zavatra maro sady lehibe, izay tsy azony nohamarinina akory, no niampangany azy;
And when he had come, the Jews who came down from Jerusalem stood around, bringing many and heavy charges which they could not prove;
8 fa Paoly nandaha-teny hanala tsiny ny tenany hoe: Tsy nanao ratsy aho, na tamin’ ny lalàn’ ny Jiosy, na tamin’ ny tempoly, na tamin’ i Kaisara.
while Paul said in his defence, Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar have I committed any offence.
9 Nefa Festosy ta-hahazo sitraka tamin’ ny Jiosy, dia namaly an’ i Paoly ka nanao hoe: Tianao va hiakatra any Jerosalema hotsaraina eo anatrehako any ny amin’ izany zavatra izany?
But Festus, wishing to gain favor with the Jews, answered Paul and said, Art thou willing to go up to Jerusalem, and there be tried on these charges before me?
10 Fa hoy Paoly: Eto amin’ ny fitsaran’ i Kaisara, izay tokony hitsarana ahy, no itsanganako. Tsy nanisy ratsy ny Jiosy akory aho, ary na ianao aza dia mahafantatra izany marina.
But Paul said, I stand at the judgment-seat of Caesar, where I ought to be tried. To the Jews I have done no wrong, as thou also very well knowest.
11 Koa raha mpanao ratsy aho, na nanao izay tokony hahafaty ahy, dia tsy mandà tsy ho faty aho; fa raha tsy marina kosa izay zavatra iampangan’ ireo ahy, dia tsy misy olona mahazo manolotra ahy ho amin’ ny sitrapony. Handahatra eo anatrehan’ i Kaisara aho.
If indeed I am an offender, and have done anything deserving death, I refuse not to die; but if there be nothing in the charges which they bring against me, no man can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar.
12 Ary rehefa niresaka tamin’ ny mpanolo-tsaina Festosy, dia namaly hoe: Efa nifidy ny handahatra any anatrehan’ i Kaisara ianao, ka dia ho any amin’ i Kaisara ihany ianao.
Then Festus having conferred with the council, answered, Thou hast appealed to Caesar; to Caesar shalt thou go.
13 Ary rehefa afaka andro vitsivitsy, dia tonga tany Kaisaria Agripa mpanjaka sy Berenika hiarahaba an’ i Festosy.
And after some days Agrippa the king and Bernice came to Caesarea to greet Festus.
14 Ary rehefa nitoetra teo andro maro izy, dia nambaran’ i Festosy tamin’ ny mpanjaka ny amin’ i Paoly, ka hoy izy: Misy mpifatotra anankiray ato navelan’ i Feliksa,
And while they were making a stay of some days there, Festus laid the case of Paul before the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix,
15 koa tamin’ izaho tany Jerosalema ny mpisorona sy ny loholon’ ny Jiosy niampanga azy ka nangataka izay hanamelohana azy.
against whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews brought a complaint, asking for judgment against him.
16 Fa namaly azy kosa aho hoe: Tsy fanaon’ ny Romana ny manolotra olona, raha tsy mbola mifanatrika ny ampangaina sy ny mpiampanga, ka mahazo mandahatra hanala tsiny ny tenany ny amin’ izay niampangan’ ireo azy izy.
To whom I answered, It is not the custom of the Romans to give up any man on a charge, before the accused hath the accusers face to face, and hath opportunity to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.
17 Ary raha tonga tatỳ izy, dia tsy mba nijanonjanona aho, fa nony ampitso dia nipetraka teo amin’ ny fitsarana, ka nasaiko nalaina ralehilahy.
When therefore they had come together here, without any delay I sat on the judgment-seat on the day after, and ordered the man to be brought forward.
18 Rehefa nitsangana ireo mpiampanga ireo, dia tsy mba niampanga azy araka izay zavatra ratsy nampoiziko izy tsy akory,
And his accusers standing around him brought no accusation of such things as I had conjectured,
19 fa nanana ady hevitra taminy ny amin’ ny fivavahany sy ny amin’ izay Jesosy anankiray efa maty, nefa nolazain’ i Paoly ho velona.
but had against him certain questions of their own religion, and of one Jesus that was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.
20 Ary satria variana ny hevitro ny amin’ ny hitsarana izany zavatra izany, dia nanontany aho na tian-dralehilahy ny hankany Jerosalema hotsaraina any ny amin’ izany zavatra izany, na tsia,
And I being at a loss about such questions, asked him if he was willing to go to Jerusalem and there be put on trial for these matters.
21 Ary rehefa nangataka hambenana hotsarain’ ny mpanjaka Paoly, dia nasaiko nambenana mandra-pandefako azy ho any amin’ i Kaisara.
But Paul having appealed to be kept in custody for the judgment of Augustus, I ordered him to be kept till I should send him up to Caesar.
22 Dia hoy Agripa tamin’ i Festosy: Izaho koa mba ta-handre izay lehilahy izay. Ary hoy izy: Rahampitso ary dia handre azy ihany ianao.
Then Agrippa said to Festus, I should like to hear the man myself. Tomorrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
23 Ary nony ampitso, dia tonga Agripa sy Berenika niseho tamin’ ny voninahitry ny fiandrianany ka niditra teo amin’ ny trano fihaonana niaraka tamin’ ny mpifehy arivo sy ny lehibe tao an-tanàna, dia nentina nankeo Paoly araka ny didin’ i Festosy.
Accordingly on the morrow Agrippa and Bernice came with great pomp, and entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains and principal men of the city, and at the order of Festus Paul was brought forward.
24 Ary hoy Festosy: Ry Agripa mpanjaka sy izay rehetra eto amintsika, hitanareo io lehilahy io, izay notarainan’ ny Jiosy rehetra tamiko, na tany Jerosalema na teto koa, ka nataony antso avo hoe: Tsy tokony hovelomina intsony ilehio.
And Festus said: King Agrippa, and all men who are here present with us! Ye see this man about whom the whole multitude of the Jews applied to me both at Jerusalem and here, crying out that he ought no longer to live.
25 Nefa nony hitako fa tsy nisy zavatra nataony izay tokony hahafaty azy, saingy izy ihany no ta-handahatra amin’ ny mpanjaka, dia nanaiky hampanatitra azy aho.
But having found that he had done nothing deserving death, and he himself having appealed to Augustus, I determined to send him;
26 Ny amin’ io lehilahy io tsy hitako izay teny marina hosoratako amin’ ny tompoko, koa dia nentiko eto anatrehanareo izy, indrindra fa eto anatrehanao, ry Agripa mpanjaka, mba hadinina izy, ka dia ho hitako izay hosoratako.
and as I have nothing certain to write about him to the emperor, I have brought him forward before you, and specially before thee, king Agrippa, that when the examination hath been made, I may have something to write.
27 Fa ataoko fa tsy mety ny mampanatitra mpifatotra, nefa tsy milaza izay zavatra iampangana azy.
For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner and not signify the charges against him;
