< Asan'ny Apostoly 2 >
1 Ary nony tonga ny Andro Pentekosta, dia teo amin’ ny fitoerana iray izy rehetra.
In the course of the Festival at the close of the Harvest the disciples had all met together,
2 Ary nisy feo tonga tampoka avy tany an-danitra, toy ny rivotra mahery mifofofofo, ka nanenika ilay trano niangonany.
when suddenly there came from the heavens a noise like that of a strong wind rushing by; it filled the whole house in which they were sitting.
3 Ary nisy lela maro mitarehin’ afo niseho taminy, izay nizarazara; ary nipetraka tamin’ izy rehetra isan-olona izany.
Then there appeared tongues of what seemed to be flame, separating, so that one settled on each of them;
4 Ary samy feno ny Fanahy Masìna izy rehetra, ka dia niteny tamin’ ny fiteny maro samy hafa, araka ny nampitenenan’ ny Fanahy Masìna azy.
and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with strange ‘tongues’ as the Spirit prompted their utterances.
5 Ary nisy Jiosy, mpivavaka tsara, nitoetra tany Jerosalema, avy tany amin’ ny firenena samy hafa rehetra ambanin’ ny lanitra.
Now there were then staying in Jerusalem religious Jews from every country in the world;
6 Ary nony re izany feo izany, dia niangona ny olona maro ka very hevitra, fa samy nahare azy ireo niteny tamin’ ny fiteniny avy izy rehetra.
and, when this sound was heard, numbers of people collected, in the greatest excitement, because each of them heard the disciples speaking in his own language.
7 Dia talanjona sady gaga izy rehetra ka nanao hoe: Indreo, tsy Galiliana va ireo rehetra miteny ireo?
They were utterly amazed, and kept asking in astonishment: “What! Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans?
8 Koa ahoana no andrenesantsika amin’ ny fitenintsika avy izay nahabe antsika
Then how is it that we each of us hear them in our own native language?
9 ― dia Partiana sy Mediana sy Elamita, ary mponina any Mesopotamia, sy Jodia sy Kapadokia sy Ponto sy Asia
Some of us are Parthians, some Medes, some Elamites; and some of us live in Mesopotamia, in Judea and Cappadocia, in Pontus and Roman Asia,
10 sy Frygia sy Pamfylia, sy Egypta sy ny tany Libya izay manodidina an’ i Kyrena, ary vahiny avy any Roma, na Jiosy na proselyta,
in Phrygia and Pamphylia, in Egypt and the districts of Libya adjoining Cyrene; some of us are visitors from Rome,
11 Kretana sy Arabo ― koa ahoana no andrenesantsika ireo miteny amin’ ny fitenintsika avy ny asa lehibe ataon’ Andriamanitra?
either Jews by birth or converts, and some are Cretans and Arabians — yet we all alike hear them speaking in our own tongues of the great things that God has done.”
12 Dia talanjona izy rehetra ka niahanahana sady niresaka hoe: Ahoana no tokony ho hevitr’ izany?
They were all utterly amazed and bewildered. “What does it mean?” they asked one another.
13 Fa ny sasany nihomehy ka nanao hoe: Leon-divay mamy ireo.
But there were some who said with a sneer: “They have had too much new wine.”
14 Fa nitsangana Petera sy ny iraika ambin’ ny folo lahy, dia nanandra-peo izy ka nanao taminy hoe: Ry lehilahy Jiosy sy izay rehetra monina eto Jerosalema, aoka ho fantatrareo izao, ka henoy ny teniko:
Then Peter, surrounded by the eleven other Apostles, stood up, and, raising his voice, addressed the crowd. “Men of Judea,” he began, “and all you who are staying in Jerusalem, let me tell you what this means. Mark well my words.
15 Tsy mamo araka ny hevitrareo tsy akory ireo, fa vao ora fahatelo ihany izao ny andro.
These men are not drunk, as you suppose; for it is only now nine in the morning! No!
16 Fa izao ilay nampilazaina an’ i Joela mpaminany hoe:
This is what is spoken of in the prophet Joel —
17 Ary amin’ ny andro farany, hoy Andriamanitra, No handatsahako ny Fanahiko amin’ ny nofo rehetra; Ary ny zanakalahinareo sy ny zanakavavinareo haminany, Ary ny zatovonareo hahita fahitana, Ary ny lahiantitrareo hanonofy;
‘It shall come about in the last days,’ God says, ‘That I will pour out my Spirit on all mankind; Your sons and your daughters shall become Prophets, Your young men shall see visions, And your old men dream dreams;
18 Ary ny mpanompoko, na lahy na vavy, Dia handatsahako ny Fanahiko amin’ izany andro izany, Ka dia haminany izy;
Yes, even on the slaves — for they are mine — both men and women, I will in those days pour out my Spirit, And they shall become Prophets;
19 Ary hanisy fahagagana eny amin’ ny lanitra ambony Aho sy famantarana amin’ ny tany ambany, Dia rà sy afo ary zavon’ ny setroka;
And I will show wonders in the heavens above, And signs on the earth below — Blood and fire and mist of smoke;
20 Ny masoandro hampodina ho aizina, Ary ny volana ho rà, Alohan’ ny hahatongavan’ ny andron’ i Jehovah, Dia ilay sady lehibe no malaza;
The sun shall become darkness, And the moon blood-red, Before the Day of the Lord comes — that great and awful day.
21 Ary na zovy na zovy no hiantso ny anaran’ i Jehovah dia hovonjena.
Then shall every one who invokes the Name of the Lord be saved.’
22 Ry lehilahy Isiraely, mihainoa izao teny izao: Jesosy avy any Nazareta, lehilahy nasehon’ Andriamanitra teo aminareo tamin’ ny asa lehibe sy ny fahagagana ary ny famantarana izay nampanaovin’ Andriamanitra Azy teo aminareo, tahaka ny fantatrareo ihany,
Men of Israel, listen to what I am saying. Jesus of Nazareth, a man whose mission from God to you was proved by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God showed among you through him, as you know full well —
23 Izy efa natolotra araka ny saina niniana sy ny fahalalan’ Andriamanitra rahateo, dia nohomboanareo sy novonoinareo tamin’ ny tanan’ ny olona tsy tan-dalàna;
He, I say, in accordance with God’s definite plan and with his previous knowledge, was betrayed, and you, by the hands of lawless men, nailed him to a cross and put him to death.
24 fa Andriamanitra nanangana Azy, rehefa nahafaka ny fanaintainan’ ny fahafatesana, satria tsy laitr’ izany hohazonina Izy.
But God released him from the pangs of death and raised him to life, it being impossible for death to retain its hold upon him.
25 Fa Davida milaza Azy hoe: Nijery an’ i Jehovah teo anatrehako mandrakariva aho; Satria eo ankavanako Izy, mba tsy hangozohozo aho,
Indeed it was to him that David was referring when he said — ‘I have had the Lord ever before my eyes, For he stands at my right hand, that I should not be disquieted.
26 Dia izany no nifalian’ ny foko sy niravoravoan’ ny lelako; Ny nofoko koa hitoetra amin’ ny fanantenana;
Therefore my heart was cheered, and my tongue told its delight; Yes, even my body, too, will rest in hope;
27 Fa tsy ho foinao ho any amin’ ny fiainan-tsi-hita ny aiko; Ary tsy hamela ny Iray Masinao ho tratry ny lò Hianao; (Hadēs )
For thou wilt not abandon my soul to the Place of Death, Nor surrender me, your holy one, to undergo corruption. (Hadēs )
28 Nampahafantatra ahy ny lalan’ aina Hianao; Hampifaly ahy indrindra amin’ ny tavanao.
Thou have shown me the path to life, Thou wilt fill me with gladness in your presence.’
29 Ry rahalahy, aoka aho mba hilaza aminareo marimarina ny amin’ i Davida patriarka, fa efa maty izy ka nalevina koa, ary ny fasany eto amintsika mandraka androany.
Brothers, I can speak to you the more confidently about the Patriarch David, because he is dead and buried, and his tomb is here among us to this very day.
30 Ary satria mpaminany izy ka nahalala fa Andriamanitra efa nanao fianianana taminy fa izay hateraky ny kibony no hipetraka eo ambonin’ ny seza fiandrianany,
David, then, Prophet as he was, knowing that God ‘had solemnly sworn to him to set one of his descendants upon his throne,’ looked into the future,
31 koa raha nahita rahateo izy, dia nilaza ny fitsanganan’ i Kristy, fa tsy nafoy ho any amin’ ny fiainan-tsi-hita Izy, ary ny nofony tsy tratry ny lò. (Hadēs )
and referred to the resurrection of the Christ when he said that ‘he had not been abandoned to the Place of Death, nor had his body undergone corruption.’ (Hadēs )
32 Izany Jesosy izany dia efa natsangan’ Andriamanitra, ary vavolombelon’ izany izahay rehetra.
It was this Jesus, whom God raised to life; and of that we are ourselves all witnesses.
33 Ary rehefa nasandratry ny tanana ankavanan’ Andriamanitra Izy, ary nandray tamin’ ny Ray ny Fanahy Masìna Izay nokasainy, dia efa nampilatsaka izao hitanareo sy renareo izao Izy.
And now that he has been exalted to the right hand of God, and has received from the Father the promised gift of the Holy Spirit, he has begun to pour out that gift, as you yourselves now see and hear.
34 Fa tsy Davida no niakatra tany an-danitra; fa hoy izy: Jehovah nilaza tamin’ ny Tompoko hoe: Mipetraha eo an-tanako ankavanana
It was not David who went up into Heaven; for he himself says — ‘The Lord said to my master: “Sit on my right hand,
35 Ambara-panaoko ny fahavalonao ho fitoeran-tongotrao.
Till I put your enemies as a footstool under thy feet.”’
36 Koa aoka ho fantatry ny taranak’ isiraely rehetra marimarina fa iny Jesosy nohomboanareo tamin’ ny hazo fijaliana iny dia efa nataon’ Andriamanitra ho Tompo sy Kristy.
So let the whole nation of Israel know beyond all doubt, that God has made him both Lord and Christ — this very Jesus whom you crucified.”
37 Ary raha nandre izany ny olona, dia voatsindrona tam-pony ka nanao tamin’ i Petera sy ny Apostoly namany hoe: Ry rahalahy, inona no hataonay?
When the people heard this, they were conscience-smitten, and said to Peter and the rest of the Apostles: “Brothers, what can we do?”
38 Ary hoy Petera taminy: Mibebaha, ary aoka samy hatao batisa amin’ ny anaran’ i Jesosy Kristy ianareo rehetra mba hahazo famelana ny helokareo; ary ianareo handray ny fanomezana, dia ny Fanahy Masìna;
“Repent,” answered Peter, “and be baptized every one of you in the Faith of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 fa ny teny fikasana dia ho anareo sy ny zanakareo ary ho an’ izay rehetra lavitra, na iza na iza hantsoin’ i Jehovah Andriamanitsika hanatona Azy.
For the promise is for you and for your children, and also for all those now far away, who may be called by the Lord our God.”
40 Ary nanambara sy nananatra azy tamin’ ny teny maro hafa koa izy ka nanao hoe: Aoka hovonjena ho afaka amin’ ity taranaka maditra ity ianareo.
With many other words Peter enforced his teaching, while the burden of his exhortations was — “Save yourselves from the perverse spirit of this age.”
41 Ary izay nandray tsara ny teniny dia natao batisa; ary tokony ho telo arivo no olona nanampy ho isany tamin’ izany andro izany.
So those who accepted his teaching were baptized, and about three thousand people joined the disciples on that day alone.
42 Ary izy ireo naharitra tamin’ ny fampianaran’ ny Apostoly sy ny fiombonana sy ny famakiana ny mofo ary ny fivavahana.
They devoted themselves to the teaching of the Apostles and to the Common Life of the Church, to the Breaking of the Bread and to the Prayers.
43 Dia raiki-tahotra ny olona rehetra teo, ary fahagagana sy famantarana maro no nataon’ ny Apostoly.
A deep impression was made upon every one, and many wonders and signs were done at the hands of the Apostles.
44 Ary izay rehetra nino dia niray toerana, sady niombonany avokoa ny fananany rehetra,
All who became believers in Christ held everything for the common use;
45 ary namidiny ny taniny sy ny fananany ka nozarainy tamin’ izy rehetra araka izay nilainy avy.
they sold their property and their goods, and shared the proceeds among them all, according to their individual needs.
46 Ary dia niray saina isan’ andro izy ka nazoto nankeo an-kianjan’ ny tempoly ary namaky mofo tao an-trano ka nihinan-kanina tamin’ ny fifaliana sy ny fahatsaram-po,
Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the Temple Courts, and to the Breaking of Bread at their homes, while they partook of their food in simple-hearted gladness, praising God, and winning the good-will of all the people.
47 nidera an’ Andriamanitra sady nahita fitia tamin’ ny vahoaka rehetra. Ary ny olom-bonjena dia nanampin’ ny Tompo isan’ andro ho isan’ ireo.
And the Lord daily added to their company those who were in the path of Salvation.
