1 Paoly, Apostolin’ i Kristy Jesosy noho ny sitrapon’ Andriamanitra, mba ho mpitory ny teny fikasana milaza ny fiainana izay ao amin’ i Kristy Jesosy,

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

2 mamangy an’ i Timoty, zanako malala: ho aminao anie ny fahasoavana sy ny famindram-po ary ny fiadanana avy amin’ Andriamanitra Ray sy Kristy Jesosy Tompontsika.

to Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 Misaotra an’ Andriamanitra aho, Izay tompoiko araka ny nataon’ ny razako amin’ ny fieritreretana madio, fa tsy manam-pitsaharana akory ny fahatsiarovako anao amin’ ny fivavahako andro aman’ alina;

I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, as without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day,

4 ary maniry hahita anao aho (satria tsaroako ny ranomasonao), mba ho feno fifaliana aho;

longing to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

when I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that it dwelleth in thee also.

For which cause I remind thee to stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the laying on of my hands;

7 Fa tsy nomen’ Andriamanitra fanahy osa isika, fa fanahy mahery sy fitiavana ary fahononan-tena.

for God gave us not the spirit of cowardice, but of power, and of love, and of admonition.

8 Koa aza menatra ny ho vavolombelon’ ny Tompontsika, na ahy mpifatony ianao; fa aoka ianao ho mpiombona ny fahoriana noho ny filazantsara araka ny herin’ Andriamanitra,

Be not then ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but endure hardship with me for the gospel through the power of God,

9 Izay namonjy antsika sy niantso antsika tamin’ ny fiantsoana masìna, tsy araka ny asantsika, fa araka ny fikasany sy ny fahasoavany izay nomena antsika tao amin’ i Kristy Jesosy hatry ny fony fahagola; (aiōnios g166)

who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and the grace which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, (aiōnios g166)

10 fa naharihary ankehitriny tamin’ ny nisehoan’ i Kristy Jesosy, Mpamonjy antsika, Izay nahafoana ny herin’ ny fahafatesana, ka ny filazantsara no nampisehoany mazava ny fiainana sy ny tsi-fahalòvana mandrakizay;

but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and incorruption to light through the gospel,

for which I was appointed a herald, and an apostle, and a teacher of the gentiles.

12 Ary noho izany koa no iaretako izao zavatra izao, ka tsy menatra aho, satria fantatro Izay inoako, ary matoky aho fa Izy dia mahatahiry ilay zavatra natolotro Azy mandra-pihavin’ izay andro izay.

For which cause I suffer also these things. But I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which he hath committed to me unto that day.

13 Tano amin’ ny finoana ny ny fitiavana ao amin’ i Kristy Jesosy ny mariky ny teny tsy misy kilema, izay efa renao tamiko.

Hold the pattern of sound words, which thou heardest from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus;

14 Ilay zavatra tsara natolotra anao dia tehirizo amin’ ny fampaherezan’ ny Fanahy Masìna, Izay mitoetra ao anatintsika.

the good trust committed to thee keep through the Holy Spirit which dwelleth in us.

15 Fantatrao fa efa nahafoy ahy izay rehetra any Asia; isan’ ireny Fygelo sy Hermogena.

Thou knowest this, that all those in Asia turned away from me, of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.

16 Homen’ ny Tompo famindram-po anie ny ankohonan’ i Onesiforosy; satria namelombelona ny fanahiko matetika izy, fa tsy menatra ny gadrako;

The Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain; but on the contrary,

17 fa raha tany Roma izy, dia nitady ahy fatratra ka nahita

when he arrived at Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.

18 (ny Tompo anie hampahita azy famindram-po amin’ ny Tompo amin’ izay andro izay); ary ny hafatratry ny nanompoany ahy tany Efesosy dia fantatrao tsara.

The Lord grant to him that he may find mercy from the Lord in that day: and what services he rendered me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
