< 2 Samoela 5 >

1 Dia tonga tao amin’ i Davida tao Hebrona ny firenen’ Isiraely rehetra ka nanao hoe: Indreto izahay, fa taolanao sy nofonao.
And all the tribes of Israel went to David in Hebron, saying: “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.
2 Fa hatry ny fony fahiny ihany koa, raha mbola nanjaka taminay aza Saoly, dia ianao no mpitarika ny Isiraely nivoaka sy niditra; ary Jehovah efa nilaza taminao hoe: Hianao no ho mpiandry ny Isiraely oloko, ary ianao no ho mpanapaka azy.
Moreover, yesterday and the day before, when Saul was king over us, you were the one leading out and leading back Israel. Then the Lord said to you, ‘You shall pasture my people Israel, and you shall be the leader over Israel.’”
3 Eny, tonga tao amin’ ny mpanjaka tao Hebrona ny loholon’ ny Isiraely rehetra, ary Davida mpanjaka nanao fanekena taminy tao Hebrona teo anatrehan’ i Jehovah; ary dia nanosotra an’ i Davida ho mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely izy.
Also, the elders of Israel went to the king at Hebron, and king David struck a pact with them at Hebron in the sight of the Lord. And they anointed David as king over Israel.
4 Telo-polo taona Davida fony izy vao nanjaka, ary nanjaka efa-polo taona izy.
David was a son of thirty years, when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for forty years.
5 Tao Hebrona no nanjakany tamin’ ny Joda fito taona sy enim-bolana; ary tany Jerosalema no nanjakany tamin’ ny Isiraely sy ny Joda rehetra telo amby telo-polo taona.
In Hebron, he reigned over Judah for seven years and six months. Then in Jerusalem, he reigned for thirty-three years over all of Israel and Judah.
6 Ary ny mpanjaka sy ny olony nankany Jerosalema hiady amin’ ny Jebosita tompon-tany, ary hoy izy ireo tamin’ i Davida: Tsy ho tafiditra eto ianao; fa na dia ny jamba ny mandringa aza dia hahasakana anao ka hanao hoe: Tsy ho tafiditra eto Davida.
And the king, and all the men who were with him, went away to Jerusalem, to the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land. And it was said to David by them, “You shall not enter here, unless you will take away the blind and the lame, who say, ‘David shall not enter here.’”
7 Kanjo afak’ i Davida ihany ny batery fiarovana, dia Ziona (Tanànan’ i Davida izany).
But David seized the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.
8 Ary hoy Davida tamin’ izany andro izany: Izay mamely ny Jebosita, dia aoka hananika ho eo amin’ ny riana ka hamely, ny mandringa sy ny jamba izay halan’ ny fon’ i Davida. Koa dia mby am-pitenenana hoe: Izay jamba mandringa tsy ho tafiditra ao an-trano.
For David had proposed, on that day, a reward to him who had struck the Jebusites and who had reached to the gutters of the rooftops, and who had taken away the blind and the lame that hated the soul of David. Therefore, it is said in the proverb, “The blind and the lame shall not enter into the temple.”
9 Dia nitoetra tao anatin’ ny batery fiarovana Davida, ary ny anarany nataony hoe: Tanànan’ i Davida. Ary narafitr’ i Davida ny manodidina hatrany Milo mbamin’ ny ao anatiny.
Then David lived in the stronghold, and he called it: the City of David. And he built it up on all sides, from Millo and inward.
10 Koa dia nandroso sy nihalehibe Davida, fa Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny maro, no nomba azy.
And he advanced, prospering and increasing, and the Lord, the God of hosts, was with him.
11 Ary Hirama, mpanjakan’ i Tyro, naniraka olona tany amin’ i Davida nampanatitra hazo sedera ary nandefa mpandrafitra sy tambato; dia nanao trano ho an’ i Davida ireo.
Also, Hiram, the king of Tyre, sent messengers to David, with cedar wood, and with builders of wood and builders of stone, in order to make walls. And they built a house for David.
12 Dia fantatr’ i Davida fa Jehovah efa nampitoetra azy ho mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely ka nanandratra ny fanjakany noho ny amin’ ny Isiraely olony.
And David knew that the Lord had confirmed him as king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom over his people Israel.
13 Ary Davida mbola naka vaditsindrano sy vady koa tany Jerosalema, rehefa tonga avy tany Hebrona izy; ary dia nisy zanakalahy sy zanakavavy koa naterak’ i Davida.
Then David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem, after he had arrived from Hebron. And other sons as well as daughters were born to David.
14 Ary izao no anaran’ ny naterany tany Jerosalema: Samoa sy Sobaba sy Natana sy Solomona
And these are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
15 sy Jibara sy Elisoa sy Nafega sy Jafia
and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg,
16 sy Elisama sy Eliada ary Elifeleta.
and Japhia, and Elishama, and Eliada, and Elipheleth.
17 Koa nony ren’ ny Filistina fa efa nohosoran’ ny olona ho mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely Davida, dia niakatra hitady azy ny Filistina rehetra; fa raha ren’ i Davida izany dia nidina tao amin’ ny batery fiarovana izy.
Then the Philistines heard that they had anointed David as king over Israel. And they all ascended, so that they might seek David. And when David had heard of it, he descended to a stronghold.
18 Ary dia tonga ny Filistina ka nihahakahaka teny amin’ ny Lohasahan’ ny Refaïta.
Now the Philistines, arriving, spread themselves out in the Valley of Rephaim.
19 Ary Davida nanontany tamin’ i Jehovah hoe: Hiakatra hamely ny Filistina va aho? Hatolotrao eo an-tanako va izy? Dia hoy Jehovah tamin’ i Davida: Miakara, fa hatolotro eo an-tananao tokoa ny Filistina.
And David consulted the Lord, saying: “Shall I ascend to the Philistines? And will you give them into my hand?” And the Lord said to David: “Ascend. For I will certainly give the Philistines into your hand.”
20 Ary Davida tonga tao Bala-perazima ka namely ireo tao, dia hoy izy: Jehovah efa namaky ny fahavaloko teo anoloako hipariaka toy ny rano vaky; koa izany no nanaovany ny anaran’ izany tany izany hoe Bala-perazima.
Therefore, David went to Baal-perazim. And he struck them there. And he said, “The Lord has divided my enemies before me, just as the waters are divided.” Because of this, the name of that place was called Baal-perazim.
21 Ary nilaozany tao ny sampiny, ka dia lasan’ i Davida sy ny olony ireny.
And in that place they left behind their graven images, which David and his men took away.
22 Ary niakatra indray ny Filistina ka nihahakahaka teny amin’ ny Lohasahan’ ny Refaïta.
And the Philistines continued still, so that they ascended and spread themselves out in the Valley of Rephaim.
23 Ary nanontany tamin’ i Jehovah Davida, ka novaliany hoe: Aza mandeha; fa hodidino avy eo aoriana izy, ka ho tonga eo aminy ianao eo amin’ ny tandrifin’ ny hazo balsama.
Then David consulted the Lord, “Shall I ascend against the Philistines, and will you deliver them into my hands?” And he responded: “You shall not ascend against them; instead, circle behind their back. And you shall come to them from the side opposite the balsam trees.
24 Ary raha toa mahare fingadongadon’ olona eny amin’ ny tendron’ ny hazo balsama ianao, dia faingàna; fa amin’ izay no efa miainga mialoha anao Jehovah hamely ny miaramilan’ ny Filistina.
And when you hear the sound of something going forth from the tops of the balsam trees, then you shall begin the battle. For then the Lord will go forth, before your face, so that he may strike the army of the Philistines.”
25 Ary dia nanao araka ny nandidian’ i Jehovah azy Davida ka dia namely ny Filistina hatrany Geba ka hatrao akaikin’ i Gazera izy.
And so, David did just as the Lord had instructed him. And he struck down the Philistines, from Gibeon until you arrive at Gezer.
