< 2 Samoela 2 >
1 Ary rehefa afaka izany, Davida dia nanontany tamin’ i Jehovah hoe: Hiakatra ho any amin’ ny tanànan’ ny Joda anankiray va aho? Dia hoy Jehovah taminy: Miakara. Ary hoy Davida: Any aninona no hiakarako? Dia hoy Izy: Any Hebrona.
And it came to pass after this, that David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said to him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, To Hebron.
2 Dia niakatra nankany Davida mbamin’ ny vadiny roa, dia Ahinoama Jezirelita sy Abigaila, ilay novinadin’ i Nabala Karmelita.
So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail, Nabal's wife the Carmelite.
3 Ary ny olona izay tao amin’ i Davida mbamin’ ny ankohonan’ ireo dia samy nentiny niakatra koa, ka nonina tao amin’ ny tanàna momba an’ i Hebrona izy ireo.
And his men that [were] with him did David bring up, every man with his household: and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.
4 Ary dia avy ny lehilahy amin’ ny Joda ka nanosotra an’ i Davida tao mba ho mpanjaka amin’ ny taranak’ i Joda. Ary nisy nanambara tamin’ i Davida hoe: Ny olona any Jabesi-gileada no nandevina an’ i Saoly.
And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, [That] the men of Jabesh-gilead [were they] that buried Saul.
5 Ary Davida dia naniraka olona hankany amin’ ny mponina any Jabesi-gileada hanao aminy hoe: Hotahin’ i Jehovah anie ianareo noho ny soa nataonareo tamin’ i Saoly tomponareo tamin’ ny nandevenanareo azy.
And David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, Blessed [be] ye of the LORD, that ye have shown this kindness to your lord, [even] to Saul, and have buried him.
6 Koa haneho famindram-po sy fahamarinana aminareo anie Jehovah, sady izaho koa efa manao izao soa izao aminareo noho ny nanaovanareo izany zavatra izany.
And now the LORD show kindness and truth to you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.
7 Ary ankehitriny, aoka hampaherezina anie ny tananareo, ary aoka hatanjaka ianareo; fa maty Saoly tomponareo, ary izaho no nohosoran’ ny firenen’ i Joda ho mpanjakany.
Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye valiant: for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.
8 Fa Abnera, zanak’ i Nera, komandin’ ny miaramilan’ i Saoly, efa naka an’ Isboseta, zanakalahin’ i Saoly, ka nitondra azy nankany Mahanaima,
But Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's host, took Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;
9 dia nampanjaka azy tamin’ i Gileada sy ny Asorita sy Jezirela sy ny Efraima sy ny Benjamina ary ny Isiraely rehetra.
And he made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.
10 (Ary efa-polo taona no nahaveloman’ Isboseta, zanak’ i Saoly, fony izy vao nanjaka amin’ ny Isiraely, ary roa taona no nanjakany.) Fa ny firenen’ i Joda nomba an’ i Davida.
Ish-bosheth, Saul's son, [was] forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and he reigned two years: but the house of Judah followed David.
11 Ary ny andro nanjakan’ i Davida tao Hebrona tamin’ ny taranak’ i Joda dia fito taona sy enim-bolana.
And the time that David was king in Hebron, over the house of Judah, was seven years and six months.
12 Ary Abnera, zanak’ i Nera, sy ny mpanompon’ Isboseta, zanak’ i Saoly, niala tao Mahanaima ka nankany Gibeona.
And Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.
13 Ary Joaba, zanak’ i Zeroia, sy ny mpanompon’ i Davida nivoaka ka nihaona tamin’ ireo teo amoron’ ny kamory tao Gibeona; ary samy nipetraka teo amin’ ny lafin’ ny kamory avy izy.
And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David went out, and met together by the pool of Gibeon: and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.
14 Ary hoy Abnera tamin’ i Joaba: Masìna ianao, aoka hitsangana ny zatovo hanao kilalao eto anatrehantsika. Ary hoy Joaba; Aoka ary izy hitsangana.
And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise, and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.
15 Dia nisy nitsangana ka nita, dia roa ambin’ ny folo lahy tamin’ ny Benjamina, izay an’ Isboseta, zanak’ i Saoly, ary roa ambin’ ny folo lahy koa tamin’ ny mpanompon’ i Davida.
Then there arose, and went over by number twelve of Benjamin, who [pertained] to Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
16 Ary izy rehetra samy nifanavika nifampihazon-doha ka nifandefon-tehezana tamin’ ny sabatra, dia niara-nikarapoka; koa izany no nanaovana izany fitoerana ao Gibeona izany hoe Helkata-hazorima.
And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and [thrust] his sword in his fellow's side: so they fell down together: wherefore that place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which [is] in Gibeon.
17 Ary mafy ny ady tamin’ izany andro izany; ary dia resy teo anoloan’ ny mpanompon’ i Davida Abnera sy ny lehilahy amin’ ny Isiraely.
And there was a very severe battle that day; and Abner was defeated, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.
18 Ary mba teo koa izy telo lahy zanak’ i Zeroia, dia Joaba sy Abisay ary Asahela; ary Asahela dia haingan-tongotra tahaka ny gazela any an-efitra.
And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel [was as] light of foot as a wild roe.
19 Ary Asahela nanenjika an’ i Abnera, ka ny fandehany nanenjika an’ i Abnera dia tsy nivily akory na tamin’ ny ankavanana na tamin’ ny ankavia.
And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.
20 Ary Abnera niherika ka nanao hoe: Hianao moa izany, no Asahela? Dia hoy izy: Izaho ity.
Then Abner looked behind him, and said, [Art] thou Asahel? And he answered, I [am].
21 Dia hoy Abnera taminy: Mivilia ianao, na ho amin’ ny ankavanana, na ho amin’ ny ankavia, ary zatovo anankiray no sambory, ka baboy ho anao izay eny aminy rehetra. Fa Asahela tsy nety nivily, fa nanenjika azy ihany.
And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay hold on one of the young men, and take to thee his armor. But Asahel would not turn aside from following him.
22 Ary hoy indray Abnera tamin’ i Asahela: Mivilia ianao, fa aza manenjika ahy; fa hataoko inona moa izay hamely anao hikarapoka amin’ ny tany, ary hataoko ahoana no fijery an’ i Joaba rahalahinao?
And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: Why should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?
23 Nefa tsy nety nivily ihany izy, ka dia nasian’ i Abnera ny antsedefona ny kibony, ka dia niboroaka teo an-damosiny ny lefona, ary nikarapoka teo izy ka maty niaraka tamin’ izay. Ary izay rehetra tonga teo amin’ ilay nikarapohan’ i Asahela sy nahafatesany dia nijanona.
But he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth [rib], that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, [that] as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died, stood still.
24 Ary Joaba sy Abisay dia nanenjika an’ i Abnera; ka nony tonga teo amin’ ny havoana Ama izy, izay tandrifin’ i Gia amin’ ny lalana mankany amin’ ny efitr’ i Gibeona, dia maty ny masoandro.
Joab also, and Abishai pursued Abner: and the sun went down when they had come to the hill of Ammah, that [lieth] before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.
25 Ary ny taranak’ i Benjamina niangona teo amin’ i Abnera ka nifoko ho iray toko ary nijanona teo an-tampon’ ny havoana anankiray.
And the children of Benjamin assembled themselves after Abner, and became one troop, and stood on the top of a hill.
26 Ary Abnera niantso an’ i Joaba hoe: Handany mandrakizay va ny sabatra? Tsy fantatrao va fa hangidy ny hiafaran’ izany? Koa mandra-pahoviana no tsy hampivereninao ny olona tsy hanenjika ny rahalahiny?
Then Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall the sword devour for ever? knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how long shall it be then, ere thou wilt bid the people return from following their brethren?
27 Ary hoy Joaba: Raha velona koa Andriamanitra, raha tsy ilay teninao, dia efa lasa nody any naraina avokoa ny olona ka tsy nanenjika ny rahalahiny akory.
And Joab said, [As] God liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone up every one from following his brother.
28 Dia nitsoka ny anjomara Joaba, ka dia nijanona ny olona rehetra, ary tsy nanenjika ny Isiraely intsony na niady taminy intsony izy.
So Joab blew a trumpet, and all the people stood still, and pursued Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
29 Ary Abnera sy ny olony nandeha mandritra ny alina namaky ny tani-hay, dia nita an’ i Jordana sy namaky an’ i Bitrona rehetra, ka dia tonga tao Mahanaima izy.
And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plain, and passed over Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Mahanaim.
30 Ary rehefa niverina Joaba avy nanenjika an’ i Abnera, dia novoriny ny olona rehetra, ary sivy ambin’ ny folo lahy ihany mbamin’ i Asahela no tsy teo ny mpanompon’ i Davida.
And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had assembled all the people, there lacked of David's servants nineteen men, and Asahel.
31 Fa ny mpanompon’ i Davida efa nahafaty enim-polo sy telon-jato lahy tamin’ ny Benjamita sy ny olon’ i Abnera.
But the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner's men, [so that] three hundred and sixty men died.
32 Ary Asahela dia nentiny ka naleviny tao amin’ ny fasan-drainy, izay tao Betlehema. Ary Joaba sy ny olony nandeha mandritra ny alina, dia tonga tao Hebrona raha vao nazava ratsy ny andro.
And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulcher of his father, which [was in] Beth-lehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.
