< 2 Mpanjaka 18 >
1 Ary tamin’ ny taona fahatelo nanjakan’ i Hosea, zanak’ i Elaha, mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely, no vao nanjakan’ i Hezekia, zanak’ i Ahaza, mpanjakan’ ny Joda.
Now in the third year of Hoshea, son of Elah, king of Israel, Hezekiah, the son of Ahaz, became king of Judah.
2 Dimy amby roa-polo taona izy, fony vao nanjaka, ary nanjaka sivy amby roa-polo taona tany Jerosalema izy. Ary ny anaran-dreniny dia Aby, zanakavavin’ i Zakaria.
He was twenty-five years old when he became king, ruling in Jerusalem for twenty-nine years; his mother's name was Abi, the daughter of Zechariah.
3 Ary nanao izay mahitsy eo imason’ i Jehovah izy tahaka izay rehetra nataon’ i Davida rainy.
He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord as David his father had done.
4 Izy no nandrava ny fitoerana avo sy namakivaky ny tsangam-baton-tsampy sy nikapa ny Aserahany ary nanorotoro ny menarana varahina izay nataon’ i Mosesy; fa ny Zanak’ Isiraely efa nandoro ditin-kazo manitra tamin’ iny hatramin’ izany andro izany aza; ary ny anarany nataony hoe Nehostana.
He had the high places taken away, and the stone pillars broken to bits, and the Asherah cut down; and the brass snake which Moses had made was crushed to powder at his order, because in those days the children of Israel had offerings burned before it, and he gave it the name Nehushtan.
5 Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely, no nitokiany, ka dia tsy nisy tahaka azy tamin’ izay rehetra mpanjakan’ ny Joda, na ny teo aoriany, na ny teo alohany
He had faith in the Lord, the God of Israel; so that there was no one like him among all the kings of Judah who were before him.
6 Fa nifikitra tamin’ i Jehovah izy ka tsy niala tamin’ ny fanarahana Azy, fa nitandrina ny didy izay nandidian’ i Jehovah an’ i Mosesy.
For his heart was fixed on the Lord, not turning from his ways, and he did his orders which the Lord gave to Moses.
7 Ary Jehovah nomba azy, ka dia nambinina tamin’ izay nalehany rehetra izy; ary niodina tamin’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria izy ka tsy nanompo azy.
And the Lord was with him; he did well in all his undertakings: and he took up arms against the king of Assyria and was his servant no longer.
8 Izy no namely ny Filistina hatrany Gaza sy ny fari-taniny, ka noravany avokoa hatramin’ ny tilikambon’ ny mpiambina ka hatramin’ ny tanàna mimànda.
He overcame the Philistines as far as Gaza and its limits, from the tower of the watchman to the walled town.
9 Ary tamin’ ny taona fahefatra nanjakan’ i Hezekia mpanjaka (dia ny taona fahafito nanjakan’ i Hosea, zanak’ i Elaha, mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely, izany) no niakaran’ i Salmanesera mpanjakan’ i Asyria, hamely an’ i Samaria sy nanaovany fahirano azy.
Now in the fourth year of King Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea, son of Elah, king of Israel, Shalmaneser, king of Assyria, came up against Samaria, shutting it in with his armies.
10 Ary nony tapitra ny telo taona, dia afak’ ireo ny tanàna; dia tamin’ ny taona fahenina nanjakan’ i Hezekia, izay taona fahasivy nanjakan’ i Hosea, mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely, no nahafahana an’ i Samaria.
And at the end of three years they took it; in the sixth year of Hezekiah's rule, which was the ninth year of Hoshea, king of Israel, Samaria was taken.
11 Ary ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria nitondra ny Isiraely ho babo tany Asyria ka nametraka azy tao Hala sy teo amoron’ i Habora, onin’ i Gozana, ary teny amin’ ny tanànan’ ny Mediana,
And the king of Assyria took Israel away as prisoners into Assyria, placing them in Halah and in Habor on the river Gozan, and in the towns of the Medes;
12 Satria tsy nihaino ny feon’ i Jehovah Andriamaniny izy, fa nivadika ny fanekeny, dia izay rehetra nandidian’ i Mosesy, mpanompon’ i Jehovah, ka tsy nihaino na nankato izany izy.
Because they did not give ear to the voice of the Lord their God, but went against his agreement, even against everything ordered by Moses, the servant of the Lord, and they did not give ear to it or do it.
13 Ary tamin’ ny taona fahefatra ambin’ ny folo nanjakan’ i Hezekia mpanjaka dia niakatra Sankeriba, mpanjakan’ i Asyria, hamely ny tanàna mimànda rehetra any Joda ka nahafaka azy.
Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, Sennacherib, king of Assyria, came up against all the walled towns of Judah and took them.
14 Ary Hezekia, mpanjakan’ ny Joda, naniraka tany amin’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria tany Lakisy nanao hoe: Efa diso aho, ialao aho, fa izay hampitondrainao ahy dia ho entiko. Ary ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria nampandoa an’ i Hezekia, mpanjakan’ ny Joda, talenta volafotsy telon-jato sy talenta volamena telo-polo.
And Hezekiah, king of Judah, sent to Lachish, to the king of Assyria, saying, I have done wrong; give up attacking me, and whatever you put on me I will undergo. And the payment he was to make was fixed by the king of Assyria at three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
15 Ary Hezekia nanome azy ny volafotsy rehetra izay hita tao an-tranon’ i Jehovah sy tao amin’ ny rakitry ny tranon’ ny mpanjaka.
So Hezekiah gave him all the silver in the house of the Lord, and in the king's store-house.
16 Tamin’ izany andro izany no nanendahan’ i Hezekia ny volamena tamin’ ny varavaran’ ny tempolin’ i Jehovah sy tamin’ ny tolana, dia ilay efa napetak’ i Hezekia, mpanjakan’ ny Joda; ary dia nomeny ho an’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria izany.
And at that time Hezekiah had the gold from the doors of the Lord's house, and from the door-pillars plated by him, cut off and gave it to the king of Assyria.
17 Ary ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria naniraka an’ i Tartana sy Raba-sarisa ary Rabsake mbamin’ ny miaramila betsaka avy teo Lakisy hankany Jerosalema ho any amin’ i Hezekia mpanjaka. Dia niakatra ireny ka tonga tany Jerosalema; ary nony tonga teo izy, dia nitsangana teo anilan’ ny lakan-drano amin’ ny kamory ambony, teo an-dalambe mankamin’ ny sahan’ ny mpamotsy lamba.
Then the king of Assyria sent the Tartan and the Rab-saris and the Rab-shakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem, to King Hezekiah, with a strong force. And they went up and came to Jerusalem, and took up their position by the stream of the higher pool, by the highway of the washerman's field.
18 Ary nony efa niantso ny mpanjaka izy, dia nivoaka ho eo aminy Eliakima, zanak’ i Hilkia, izay lehiben’ ny tao an-dapa, sy Sebna mpanoratra ary Joa, zanak’ i Asafa, mpitadidy ny raharaham-panjakana.
And they sent for the king, and Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, who was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, came out to them.
19 Dia hoy Rabsake tamin’ ireo: Andeha, lazao amin’ i Hezekia hoe: Izao no lazain’ ny mpanjaka lehibe, dia ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria: Inona izato itokianao?
And the Rab-shakeh said to them, Say now to Hezekiah, These are the words of the great king, the king of Assyria: In what are you placing your hope?
20 Hoy ianao (nefa teny foana izany): Manana saina sy hery hiady aho. Koa iza no itokianao, no miodina amiko ianao?
You say you have a design, and strength for war, but these are only words. Now to whom are you looking for support, that you have gone against my authority?
21 Fa, indro, ianao matoky io tehina volotara torotoro io, dia Egypta, nefa raha itehenan’ olona iny, dia manindrona ny tànany miboroaka; tahaka izany Farao, mpanjakan’ i Egypta, amin’ izay rehetra matoky azy.
See, now, you are basing your hope on that broken rod of Egypt, which will go through a man's hand if he makes use of it for a support; for so is Pharaoh, king of Egypt, to all who put their faith in him.
22 Ary raha hoy ianareo amiko: Jehovah Andriamanitray no itokianay, moa tsy Azy va ny fitoerana avo aman’ alitara izay noravan’ i Hezekia, izay nilaza tamin’ ny Joda sy Jerosalema hoe: Eto anoloan’ ity alitara eto Jerosalema ity no hiankohofanareo?
And if you say to me, Our hope is in the Lord our God: is it not he, whose high places and altars Hezekiah has taken away, saying to Judah and Jerusalem that worship may only be given before this altar in Jerusalem?
23 Koa aoka hifaninana ianao sy ny tompoko, mpanjakan’ i Asyria, fa homeko soavaly roa arivo ianao, raha tàhiny manana olona hitaingina azy.
And now, take a chance with my master, the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able to put horsemen on them.
24 Hataonao ahoana no fampiamboho ny komandy iray amin’ ny mpanompon’ ny tompoko, na dia izay kely indrindra aminy aza? Nefa matoky an’ i Egypta ianao hahazoanao kalesy sy mpitaingin-tsoavaly.
How then may you put to shame the least of my master's servants? and you have put your hope in Egypt for war-carriages and horsemen:
25 Koa moa haitraitro va izao niakarako izao? Tsia, fa Jehovah no naniraka ahy handrava ity tany ity ka nanao hoe: Miakara hamely ity tany ity, ka ravao izy.
And have I now come up to send destruction on this place without the Lord's authority? It was the Lord himself who said to me, Go up against this land and make it waste.
26 Dia hoy Eliakima, zanak’ i Hilkia, sy Sebna ary Joa tamin-dRabsake: Masìna ianao, teny Syriana no ataovy aminay mpanomponao, fa fantatray ihany izany; fa aza manao teny Jiosy ho ren’ ny olona eny ambonin’ ny mànda.
Then Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna and Joah said to the Rab-shakeh, Will you kindly make use of the Aramaean language in talking to your servants, for we are used to it, and do not make use of the Jews' language in the hearing of the people on the wall.
27 Fa hoy Rabsake taminy: Moa ho amin’ ny tomponao sy ianao akory va no nanirahan’ ny tompoko ahy hilaza izao teny izao, fa tsy ho amin’ ny olona izay mipetraka eny ambonin’ ny manda, hihinanany izay tsy fihinany sy hisotroany izay tsy fisotrony miaraka aminareo?
But the Rab-shakeh said to them, Is it to your master or to you that my master has sent me to say these words? has he not sent me to the men seated on the wall? for they are the people who will be short of food with you when the town is shut in.
28 Dia nijoro teo Rabsake ka niantso tamin’ ny feo mahery tamin’ ny teny Jiosy hoe: Henoy ny tenin’ ny mpanjaka lehibe, dia ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria:
Then the Rab-shakeh got up and said with a loud voice in the Jews' language, Give ear to the words of the great king, the king of Assyria;
29 Izao no lazain’ ny mpanjaka: Aza mety ho fitahin’ i Hezekia ianareo, fa tsy hahavonjy anareo amin’ ny tanako izy tsy akory.
This is what the king says: Do not be tricked by Hezekiah, for there is no salvation for you in him.
30 Ary aza mety hampahatokin’ i Hezetia an’ i Jehovah ianareo amin’ ny anaovany hoe: Jehovah no hamonjy antsika tokoa; ary tsy hatolotra eo an-tànan’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria tsy akory ity tanàna ity.
And do not let Hezekiah make you put your faith in the Lord, saying, The Lord will certainly keep us safe, and this town will not be given into the hands of the king of Assyria.
31 Aza mihaino an’ i Hezekia; fa izao no lazain’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria: Manaova fanekena amiko hiadanana, ka mankanesa atỳ amiko, ary samia homana ny voalobony sy ny aviaviny, ary samia misotro ny rano avy amin’ ny lavaka famorian-dranony avy ianareo,
Do not give ear to Hezekiah, for this is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me; and everyone will be free to take the fruit of his vine and of his fig-tree, and the water of his spring;
32 mandra-pihaviko hitondra anareo ho any amin’ izay tany tahaka ny taninareo, dia tany misy vary sy ranom-boaloboka, tany misy mofo sy tanim-boaloboka, tany misy oliva tsara diloilo sy tantely, mba ho velona ianareo, fa tsy ho faty, ary aza mihaino an’ i Hezekia, raha izy manome vohony anareo amin’ ny anaovany hoe: Jehovah no hamonjy antsika.
Till I come and take you away to a land like yours, a land of grain and wine, a land of bread and vine-gardens, a land of oil-giving olives and of honey, so that life and not death may be your fate. Give no attention to Hezekiah when he says to you, The Lord will keep us safe.
33 Moa nisy nahavonjy ny taniny tamin’ ny mpanjakan’ i Asyria va ireo andriamanitry ny firenena?
Has any one of the gods of the nations kept his land from falling into the hands of the king of Assyria?
34 Aiza moa ireo andriamanitr’ i Hamata sy Arpada? Ary aiza koa ireo andriamanitr’ i Sefarvaima sy Hena ary Iva? Nahavonjy an’ i Samaria tamin’ ny tanako va ireo andriamaniny?
Where are the gods of Hamath and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, of Hena and Ivvah? have they kept Samaria out of my hands?
35 Iza moa amin’ ny andriamanitra rehetra amin’ ny tany no efa nahavonjy ny taniny tamin’ ny tanako, koa aiza no hahavonjen’ i Jehovah an’ i Jerosalema amin’ ny tanako?
Who among all the gods of these countries have kept their country from falling into my hands, to give cause for the thought that the Lord will keep Jerusalem from falling into my hands?
36 Nefa nangina ny olona, ka tsy nisy namaly azy na dia teny indraim-bava akory aza, satria ny mpanjaka efa nandidy hoe: Aza misy mamaly azy.
But the people kept quiet and gave him no answer: for the king's order was, Give him no answer.
37 Ary Eliakima, zanak’ i Hilkia izay lehiben’ ny tao an-dapa, sy Sebna mpanoratra ary Joa, zanak’ i Asafa, mpitadidy ny raharaham-panjakana, dia niditra nankao amin’ i Hezekia, sady voatriatra ny fitafiany, ary nilaza taminy ny tenin-dRabsake izy.
Then Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, who was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, came to Hezekiah, with their clothing parted as a sign of grief, and gave him an account of what the Rab-shakeh had said.
