1 Izaho loholona mamangy an’ itompokovavy voafidy sy ny zanany, izay tiako amin’ ny fahamarinana (ary tsy izaho ihany, fa izay rehetra mahalala ny marina koa)
The elder unto the excellent Lady, and her children, whom I love in truth: and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
for the sake of the truth which dwelleth in us, and will be with us for ever: (aiōn g165)
3 ho amintsika ny fahasoavana sy ny famindram-po ary ny fiadanana avy amin’ Andriamanitra Ray sy Jesosy Kristy, Zanaky ny Ray, amin’ ny fahamarinana sy ny fitiavana.
grace, mercy, and peace be with you from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
4 Faly indrindra aho, satria misy hitako ny zanakao sasany mandeha amin’ ny fahamarinana araka ny nandraisantsika didy tamin’ ny Ray.
I rejoiced greatly that I found among thy children such as walked in truth, as we received commandment from the Father.
5 Ary mangataka aminao aho ankehitriny, tompokovavy, tsy toy ny manoratra didy vaovao aminao, fa ilay nananantsika hatramin’ ny voalohany ihany, dia aoka hifankatia isika.
And now I beseech thee, Lady, not as writing to thee a new commandment, but that which we had from the beginning, that we may love one another.
6 Ary izao no fitiavana, dia ny handehanantsika araka ny didiny. Izany no didy, tahaka ny efa renareo hatramin’ ny taloha ihany, dia ny handehananareo aminy.
And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, as ye heard from the beginning, that ye should walk in it.
7 Fa maro ny mpamitaka efa lasa any amin’ izao tontolo izao, dia ireny tsy manaiky fa efa tonga tamin’ ny nofo Jesosy Kristy. Izy no mpamitaka sy antikristy.
For many deceivers are come out into the world, who disown that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. Such a one is a deceiver and an antichrist.
8 Mitandrema ianareo, fandrao mahavery izay namonoanay tena, fa mba handraisanareo valim-pitia tanteraka.
Look to yourselves, that ye lose not the things which ye have wrought, but that ye may receive a full reward.
9 Izay rehetra mitarika nefa tsy mitoetra ao amin’ ny fampianaran’ i Kristy, dia tsy manana an Andriamanitra. Izay mitoetra ao amin’ ny fampianarana, dia izy no manana ny Ray sy ny Zanaka.
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God: but he, that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, hath both the Father and the Son.
10 Raha misy olona mankeo aminareo ka tsy mitondra izao fampianarana izao, aza mampiantrano azy na miarahaba azy akory;
Now if any one come unto you, and bringeth not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, nor wish him success: for he,
11 fa izay miarahaba azy dia miombona amin’ ny ratsy ataony.
that biddeth him welcome, is partaker of his evil deeds.
12 Manana zavatra maro hosoratana aminareo aho, nefa tsy tiako hatao amin’ ny taratasy sy ny ranomainty izany; fa manantena ho tonga atỳ aminareo aho ka hiteny mifanatrika, mba ho tanteraka ny fifalianareo.
Having many things to write unto you, I would not with paper and ink: but I hope to come unto you, and speak mouth to mouth, that our joy may be full.
13 Ny zanaky ny rahavavinao voafidy manao veloma anao.
The children of thy elect sister salute thee. Amen.
