1 Ary Solomona, zanak’ i Davida, dia nitombo hery tamin’ ny fanjakany, ary Jehovah Andriamaniny nomba azy ka nanandratra azy indrindra.
Solomon, son of David, strengthened his hold over the kingdom, and the Lord God was with him and made him extremely powerful.
2 Ary Solomona nandidy Isiraely rehetra, dia mpifehy arivo sy mpifehy zato sy mpitsara ary loham-pirenena rehetra tamin’ ny Isiraely, dia lohan’ ny fianakaviana,
Solomon sent for all the Israelite leaders, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges, and to every family leader.
3 ka dia niara-niakatra ho any amin’ ny fitoerana avo tao Gibeona Solomona sy fiangonana rehetra; fa tao trano-lay fihaonana izay an’ Andriamanitra, ilay nataon’ i Mosesy, mpanompon’ i Jehovah, tany an-efitra.
Solomon went with the whole assembly to the high place at Gibeon, for this was the site of God's Tent of Meeting that Moses, the Lord's servant, had made in the wilderness.
4 Fa fiaran’ Andriamanitra efa nampakarin’ i Davida avy ta Kiriata-jearima ho ao amin’ izay efa namboariny ho azy; fa efa nanorina lay ho azy tany Jerosalema izy.
David had brought up the Ark of God from Kiriath-jearim to the place in Jerusalem where he had set up a tent for it.
5 Ary alitara varahina izay nataon’ i Bezalila, zanak’ i Ory zanak’ i Hora, dia teo anoloan’ ny tabernakelin’ i Jehovah; ary Solomona sy fiangonana nitady Azy tao.
However, the bronze altar made by Bezalel, son of Uri, son of Hur, was there in front of the Tent of the Lord, so that is where Solomon and the assembly went to worship.
6 Ary Solomona nanatitra fanatitra teo amin’ ny alitara varahina teo anatrehan’ i Jehovah, izay momba ny trano-lay fihaonana; fanatitra dorana arivo no nateriny teo.
Solomon went up to the bronze altar before the Lord, in front of the Tent of Meeting. There he presented one thousand burnt offerings.
7 Tamin’ ny alin’ iny no nisehoan’ Andriamanitra tamin’ i Solomona, ka hoy Izy taminy: Angataho izay tianao homeko anao.
That night God appeared to Solomon and told him, “Ask what you want me to give you.”
8 Dia hoy Solomona tamin’ Andriamanitra: Hianao efa naneho fahasoavana lehibe tamin’ i Davida raiko ary nampanjaka ahy handimby azy.
Solomon responded to God, “You showed trustworthy love without limit to my father David, and you have made me king in his place.
9 Koa ankehitriny, ry Jehovah Andriamanitra ô, aoka ho tanteraka teninao tamin’ i Davida raiko; fa Hianao efa nampanjaka ahy tamin’ ny vahoaka maro be tahaka ny vovo-tany.
Lord God, please keep the promise you made to my father David. You have made me king over a nation that has as many people as the dust of the earth.
10 Koa omeo fahendrena sy fahalalana aho hitarihako ireto vahoaka ireto mivoaka sy miditra; fa iza no hahay mitsara izao olonao betsaka izao?
Please give me wisdom and knowledge to lead this people—for who can rule with justice this great people of yours?”
11 Dia hoy Andriamanitra tamin’ i Solomona: Satria tao am-ponao izany ka tsy nangataka vola aman-karena ianao, na voninahitra, na ain’ ny fahavalonao, ary tsy nangataka ho ela velona aza, fa nangataka fahendrena sy fahalalana hitsaranao ny oloko izay nampanjakako anao,
God told Solomon: “Because this is what you really wanted, and you didn't ask for wealth, possessions, or honor, or the death of those who hate you, or for a long life, but instead you asked for wisdom and knowledge so you can rule with justice my people that I have made you king over;
12 dia omena anao ny fahendrena sy fahalalana; ary homeko vola aman-karena sy voninahitra koa ianao, mihoatra noho izay nananan’ ny mpanjaka rehetra na iza na iza tany alohanao, ary tsy hisy hanana tahaka izany ny any aorianao.
wisdom and knowledge is given to you. I will give you wealth, possessions, and honor as well, much more than any king who came before you has had, or who comes after you will ever have.”
13 Ary tonga tany Jerosalema Solomona avy teo amin’ ny fitoerana avo tao Gibeona, dia teo anoloan’ ny trano-lay fihaonana; ary nanjaka tamin’ ny Isiraely izy.
Then Solomon returned to Jerusalem from the Tent of Meeting in Gibeon, and he ruled over Israel.
14 Ary Solomona nanangona kalesy sy mpitaingin-tsoavaly ka nanana kalesy efa-jato amby arivo sy mpitaingin-tsoavaly roa arivo sy iray alina, izay nataony tany amin’ ireny tanàna fitoeran’ ny kalesy ary tao amin’ ny mpanjaka tany Jerosalema.
Solomon built up an army of chariots and horses. He had 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horses, which he placed in the chariot cities, and also with him in Jerusalem.
15 Ary nataon’ ny mpanjaka ho tahaka ny vato ny habetsaky ny volafotsy sy ny volamena tany Jerosalema, ary ny hazo sedera nataony toy ny aviavy eny amin’ ny tany lemaka amoron-tsiraka.
The king made silver and gold as plentiful in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar wood as plentiful as sycamore-figs trees in the foothills.
16 Avy tany Egypta no nahazoan’ i Solomona soavaly; ary ny iray toko tamin’ ny mpandranton’ ny mpanjaka dia naka andiany iray araka izay vidiny voatendry.
Solomon imported horses for himself from Egypt and Kue; the king's traders bought them in Kue.
17 Ary ny vidin’ ny kalesy iray nentiny niakatra avy tany Egypta dia sekely volafotsy enin-jato, ary ny soavaly dia dimam-polo amby zato avy; ary toy izany koa no nitondrany ho an’ ny mpanjakan’ ny Hetita sy ny mpanjakan’ ny Syriana.
A chariot could be imported from Egypt for six hundred silver shekels, and a horse for a hundred and fifty. In the same way they exported them to all the Hittite kings and the Aramean kings.
