1 Ary Josafata, zanak’ i Asa, no nanjaka nandimby azy, ary nitombo hery hiaro tena tamin’ ny Isiraely izy.
Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place, and strengthened himself against Israel.
2 Ary namponina miaramila tamin’ ny tanàna mimanda rehetra eran’ i Joda izy sady nametraka miaramila tany amin’ ny tany Joda sy tany amin’ izay tanànan’ ny Efraima efa azon’ i Asa rainy.
He placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
3 Ary Jehovah nomba an’ i Josafata, satria nandeha tamin’ ny nalehan’ i Davida rainy izy, dia ilay tamin’ ny voalohany, fa tsy mba nitady ireo Bala;
The LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father, and did not seek the Baals,
4 fa Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny rainy, kosa no notadiaviny, ary araka ny didiny no nalehany, fa tsy mba araka ny fanaon’ ny Isiraely.
but sought to the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
5 Koa dia nampitoerin’ i Jehovah teo an-tànany ny fanjakana; ary ny Joda rehetra nitondra fanomezana ho an’ i Josafata, ka dia nanana harena sy voninahitra be izy.
Therefore the LORD established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat tribute; and he had riches and honor in abundance.
6 Ary ny fony nihanatoky tamin’ ny lalan’ i Jehovah, dia noravany tsy ho eo amin’ ny Joda ny fitoerana avo sy ny Aseraha.
His heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: and furthermore he took away the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.
7 Ary tamin’ ny taona fahatelo nanjakany dia naniraka ny mpanapaka izy, dia Benaila sy Obadia sy Zakaria sy Netanela ary Mikaia, hampianatra tany amin’ ny tanànan’ ny Joda,
Also in the third year of his reign he sent his officials, even Ben Hail, and Obadiah, and Zechariah, and Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;
8 Ary nisy Levita koa niaraka tamin’ ireo, dia Semaia sy Netania sy Zebadia sy Asahela sy Semiramota sy Jonatana sy Adonia sy Tobia ary Tob-adonia, Levita, mbamin’ i Elisama sy Jorama, mpisorona.
and with them the Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
9 Ary nampianatra tany Joda izy ireo, ka nentiny ny bokin’ ny lalàn’ i Jehovah, dia nitety ny tanànan’ ny Joda rehetra izy ka nampianatra teny amin’ ny olona.
They taught in Judah, having the scroll of the law of the LORD with them; and they went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught among the people.
10 Ary ny tahotra an’ i Jehovah nahazo ny fanjakana rehetra tamin’ ny tany manodidina an’ i Joda, ka dia tsy nisy niady tamin’ i Josafata ireo.
The fear of the LORD fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
11 Ary ny Filistina sasany nitondra fanomezana sy vola hetra ho an’ i Josafata; ary ny Arabo koa nitondra ondry aman’ osy, dia ondrilahy fiton-jato amby fito arivo sy osilahy fiton-jato amby fito arivo.
Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and silver for tribute; the Arabians also brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred male goats.
12 Ary Josafata nihanahery indrindra ka nanao trano fiarovana sy tanàna fitehirizana tany Joda.
Jehoshaphat grew great exceedingly; and he built in Judah fortresses and cities of store.
13 Ary nanana fananana betsaka tao amin’ ny tanànan’ ny Joda koa sy miaramila, lehilahy mahery, tany Jerosalema izy.
He had many works in the cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valor, in Jerusalem.
14 Ary izao no nandaminana azy araka ny fianakaviany avy: Ny mpifehy arivo tamin’ ny Joda dia Adna komandy, ary ny fehiny dia lehilahy mahery telo hetsy;
This was the numbering of them according to their fathers' houses: Of Judah, the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him mighty men of valor three hundred thousand;
15 ary nanarakaraka azy dia Johanana komandy, ary ny fehiny dia valo alina amby roa hetsy;
and next to him Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred eighty thousand;
16 ary nanarakaraka azy indray dia Amasia, zanak’ i Zikry, ilay nanolotena ho an’ i Jehovah, ary ny fehiny dia lehilahy mahery roa hetsy.
and next to him Amasiah the son of Zikri, who willingly offered himself to the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
17 Ary tamin’ ny Benjamina dia Eliada, lehilahy mahery, ary ny fehiny dia lehilahy roa hetsy mitondra tsipìka sy ampinga;
Of Benjamin: Eliada a mighty man of valor, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield;
18 ary nanarakaraka azy dia Jozabada, ary ny fehiny dia valo alina amby iray hetsy efa voaomana hiady.
and next to him Jehozabad and with him one hundred eighty thousand ready prepared for war.
19 Ireo no mpitoetra tamin’ ny mpanjaka, afa-tsy izay nampitoerin’ ny mpanjaka tany amin’ ny tanàna mimanda eran’ i Joda rehetra.
These were those who waited on the king, besides those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
