1 Ary ny Fanahin’ Andriamanitra tonga tamin’ i Azaria, zanak’ i Odeda;
The Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded.
2 ary dia nivoaka hitsena an’ i Asa izy ka nanao taminy hoe: Mihainoa ahy, ry Asa mbamin’ ny Joda sy ny Benjamina rehetra: Jehovah momba anareo, raha ianareo momba Azy; ary raha mitady Azy kosa ianareo, dia hahita Azy; fa raha mahafoy Azy ianareo, dia hahafoy anareo Izy.
He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all of Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you while you are with him. If you look for him, you will find him; but if you abandon him, he will abandon you.
3 Ary efa ela ny Isiraely no tsy nanana an’ Andriamanitra marina, na mpisorona mampianatra, na lalàna.
For many years Israel was without the true God, without a priest to teach them, and without the law.
4 Fa raha niverina tamin’ Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely, izy nony azom-pahoriana, ka nitady Azy, dia nahita Azy.
But when they were in trouble they returned to the Lord, the God of Israel—they looked for him, and they found him.
5 Ary tamin’ izany dia tsy nisy fiadanana ho an’ izay nivoaka na izay niditra; fa horohoro be no nahazo ny mponina rehetra tamin’ ny tany.
During those times travel was dangerous, for all the inhabitants of the lands were in great turmoil. People everywhere had terrible problems.
6 Ary nifandringana ny firenena sy ny tanàna, fa Andriamanitra nampangorohoro azy tamin’ ny fahoriana rehetra.
Nation fought nation, and town fought town, for God threw them into a panic with all kinds of trouble.
7 Koa mahereza ianareo, fa aza miraviravy tanana; fa hisy valim-pitia tokoa ny ataonareo.
But you need to be strong, not weak, for you will be rewarded for the work you do.”
8 Ary raha ren’ i Asa izany teny izany sy ny faminanian’ i Odeda mpaminany, dia niezaka izy ka nanaisotra ny sampy fahavetavetana tamin’ ny tanin’ ny Joda sy ny Benjamina rehetra ary tamin’ ny tanàna izay azony tany amin’ ny tany havoan’ i Efraima, sady nanavao ny alitaran’ i Jehovah izay teo anoloan’ ny lavarangana fidirana amin’ ny tranon’ i Jehovah.
When Asa heard these words of prophecy from Azariah the prophet, son of Oded, he was encouraged. He removed the vile idols from the whole territory of Judah and Benjamin and from the towns he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. Then he repaired the altar of the Lord that stood in front of the porch of the Lord's Temple.
9 Ary novoriny ny Joda sy ny Benjamina rehetra sy ny vahiny teo aminy izay avy tany amin’ ny Efraima sy ny Manase ary ny Simeona; fa betsaka no nanatona azy avy tamin’ ny Isiraely, raha hitany fa Jehovah Andriamaniny no teo aminy.
Then Asa summoned all of Judah and Benjamin, along with those Israelites from the tribes of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon who were living among them, for many people had deserted Israel and come over to Asa when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.
10 Ary nivory tany Jerosalema ireo tamin’ ny volana fahatelo tamin’ ny taona fahadimy ambin’ ny folo nanjakan’ i Asa.
They gathered in Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of Asa's reign.
11 Ary androtrizay no nanaterany fanatitra ho an’ i Jehovah tamin’ ny babo izay nentiny, dia omby fitonjato sy ondry aman’ osy fito arivo.
That day they sacrificed to the Lord seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep from the plunder they had brought back.
12 Ary nanao fanekena hitady an’ i Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny razany, tamin’ ny fony rehetra sy ny fanahiny rehetra izy,
Then they made an agreement to conscientiously and completely follow the Lord, the God of their forefathers.
13 ka na iza na iza tsy mety mitady an’ i Jehovah Andriamanitry ny Isiraely, dia hatao maty, na kely na lehibe, na lahy na vavy.
They also agreed that anyone who refused to follow the Lord, the God of Israel, would be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman.
14 Ary nianiana ho an’ i Jehovah tamin’ ny feo mahery sy ny fihobiana ary tamin’ ny trompetra sy ny anjomara izy.
They declared their oath with a loud shout, accompanied by trumpets and blasts from rams' horns.
15 Ary ny Joda rehetra nifaly noho ny fianianana, fa efa nianiana tamin’ ny fony rehetra izy sady nazoto nitady an’ i Jehovah indrindra, ka dia nahita Azy; ary Jehovah dia nanome azy fiadanana tamin’ ny manodidina fahizay.
The whole of Judah was happy at the oath they had conscientiously sworn. They looked for him sincerely, and they found him. The Lord gave them peace from all their enemies.
16 Ary na dia Imaka, renin’ i Asa mpanjaka, aza dia naetriny tsy ho andriambavy, satria efa nanao sampy ho an’ ny Aseraha izy; ary Asa nikapa ny sampiny, dia nanorotoro ka nandoro azy tao amin’ ny lohasahan-driaka Kidrona.
King Asa also removed Maacah from her position as queen mother for making an offensive Asherah pole. Asa cut down her vile idol, crushed it up, and burned it in the Kidron Valley.
17 Fa ny fitoerana avo tsy mba noravana tamin’ ny Isiraely; nefa nahitsy ny fon’ i Asa tamin’ ny androny rehetra.
While the high places were not removed from Israel, Asa was completely devoted to the Lord all his life.
18 Ary nampidiriny ho ao an-tranon’ i Jehovah ny zavatra izay nohamasinin-drainy mbamin’ izay nohamasinin’ ny tenany, dia volafotsy sy volamena ary fanaka.
He brought into God's Temple the silver and gold articles he and his father had dedicated.
19 Ary tsy nisy ady intsony hatramin’ ny taona fahadimy amby telo-polo nanjakan’ i Asa.
There was no more war until the thirty-fifth year of Asa's reign.
