1 Paoly, Apostolin’ i Kristy Jesosy araka ny didin’ Andriamanitra, Mpamonjy antsika, sy Kristy Jesosy fanantenantsika,

PAUL, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the order of God, our Saviour, and Lord, Jesus Christ, who is our hope;

2 mamangy an’ i Timoty, tena zanako amin’ ny finoana: fahasoavana, famindram-po, fiadanana avy amin’ Andriamanitra Ray sy Kristy Jesosy Tompontsika.

to Timothy, my genuine son in faith: grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 Toy ny nangatahako anao hitoetra any Efesosy, rehefa hankany Makedonia aho, mba handidianao ny sasany tsy hanao fampianarana hafahafa,

As I exhorted thee to abide at Ephesus when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest enjoin certain persons to introduce no different doctrine,

4 na hitandrina ny anganongano sy ny tantaram-pirazanana tsy hita lany izay mahatonga ady hevitra, fa tsy mampandroso ny fitondrana araka an’ Andriamanitra amin’ ny finoana, dia toy izany koa no ataoko ankehitriny.

nor to attend to fables and endless genealogies, which give occasion to disputes rather than godly edification, which is by faith; so do.

5 Fa ny anton’ ny didy dia fitiavana avy amin’ ny fo madio sy ny fieritreretana tsara ary ny finoana tsy mihatsaravelatsihy,

For the end of the commandment is love out of a clean heart, and good conscience, and faith unfeigned:

6 izay nivilian’ ny sasany, ka nania ho amin’ ny taria foana izy,

from which some, having swerved, have turned aside to vain babbling;

7 dia olona izay te-ho mpampiana-dalàna, kanefa tsy fantany akory izay lazainy na izay itompoany.

affecting to be doctors of the law, though they underhand neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

8 Nefa fantatsika fa tsara ny lalàna, raha entin’ ny olona araka izay antony,

But we know that the law is good if a man use it according to its institution;

9 ka fantany fa tsy ny olona marina no nanaovana ny lalàna, fa ny mpandika lalàna sy ny maditra, dia ny tsy matahotra an’ Andriamanitra sy ny mpanota, ny olona tsy manaja izay masìna sy ny olona vetaveta, ny mpamono ray sy ny mpamono reny, ny mpamono olona,

knowing this, that the law is not made for the just man, but for the lawless and disorderly, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for men-slayers,

10 ny mpijangajanga, ny sodomita, ny mpangalatra olona, ny mpandainga, ny mpianian-tsy tò, ary na inona na inona manohitra ny fampianarana tsy misy kilema,

for whoremongers, for sodomites, for stealers of men, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing which is contrary to sound doctrine,

11 araka ny filazantsaran’ ny voninahitr’ Andriamanitra finaritra, izay natolotra ho adidiko.

according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been put in trust.

12 Misaotra an’ i Kristy Jesosy Tompontsika aho, Izay nampahery ahy, fa nataony mahatoky aho ka notendreny ho amin’ ny fanompoana,

And I render thanks to him who hath strengthened me, even to Christ Jesus our Lord, that he hath counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

13 dia izaho, izay mpiteny ratsy fahiny sady mpanenjika sy mpampahory; kanefa nahazo famindram-po aho, satria tamin’ ny tsi-fahalalana no nanaovako izany noho ny tsi-finoana.

who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and insolently violent, But I was admitted to mercy, for I did it ignorantly in unbelief;

14 Fa be indrindra ny fahasoavan’ ny Tompontsika tamin’ ny finoana sy ny fitiavana, izay ao amin’ i Kristy Jesosy.

but the grace of our Lord hath exceedingly abounded with faith and love, which is in Christ Jesus.

15 Mahatoky ka tokony hekena amin’ ny fankasitrahana rehetra izao teny izao: tonga tetỳ ambonin’ ny tany Kristy Jesosy hamonjy ny mpanota, ary amin’ ireny izaho no lohany.

It is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the chief.

16 Kanefa izao no namindrana fo tamiko, dia ny mba hasehon’ i Jesosy Kristy eo amiko, izay lohany, ny fahari-po rehetra ho fianarana ho an’ izay hino Azy hahazoana fiainana mandrakizay. (aiōnios g166)

But for this end obtained I mercy, that in me, the chief, Jesus Christ might shew forth all long-suffering, for a pattern to those who should after believe in him unto eternal life. (aiōnios g166)

17 Ary ho an’ ny Mpanjaka tsy manan-taloha, tsy mety maty, tsy hita, dia ho an’ Andriamanitra tokana ihany anie ny laza sy ny voninahitra mandrakizay mandrakizay. Amena. (aiōn g165)

Now to the king eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)

18 Izao didy izao no omeko anao, ry Timoty zanako, araka ireo faminaniana natao fahiny ny aminao ireo, mba ho entinao miady ny ady tsara ireo,

This commandment, son Timothy, I give thee, according to the prophecies which were before delivered concerning thee, that by them thou mightest war a good warfare;

19 amin’ ny itananao ny finoana sy ny fieritreretana tsara, izay efa narian’ ny sasany, ka toy ny olona vaky sambo izy ny amin’ ny finoana;

holding faith and a good conscience, which some having renounced, as touching the faith, have been shipwrecked:

20 naman’ ireny Hymeneo sy Aleksandro, izay natolotro ho an’ i Satana mba hofaizana tsy hiteny ratsy.

of whom are Hymeneus and Alexander, whom I have delivered over unto Satan, that they may be corrected, so as to blaspheme no more.
