< 1 Samoela 11 >
1 Ary Nahasy Amonita niakatra ka nitoby tandrifin’ i Jabesi-gileada; dia hoy ny mponina rehetra tao Jabesy tamin’ i Nahasy: Manaova fanekena aminay, dia hanompo anao izahay.
Soon Nahash the Ammonite came up and laid siege to Jabesh-gilead. All the men of Jabesh said to him, “Make a treaty with us, and we will serve you.”
2 Fa hoy Nahasy Amonita: Izao no hanaovako fanekena aminareo: hopotsirina ny masonareo ankavanana rehetra, ka hataoko fandatsana ny Isiraely rehetra izany.
But Nahash the Ammonite replied, “I will make a treaty with you on one condition, that I may put out everyone’s right eye and bring reproach upon all Israel.”
3 Fa hoy ny loholon’ i Jabesy taminy: Omeo andro hafitoana izahay, mba hanirahanay olona ho any amin’ ny fari-tanin’ ny Isiraely rehetra, ka raha tàhiny tsy misy olona hamonjy anay, dia hivoaka hanatona anao izahay.
“Hold off for seven days,” replied the elders of Jabesh, “and let us send messengers throughout Israel. If there is no one to save us, we will surrender to you.”
4 Dia tonga tany Gibean’ i Saoly ny iraka ka nanambara ny teniny teo anatrehan’ ny vahoaka; dia nanandratra ny feony ny vahoaka rehetra ka nitomany.
When the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul and relayed these words in the hearing of the people, they all wept aloud.
5 Ary, indro, Saoly tonga nandroaka ny omby avy tany an-tsaha ka nanao hoe: Inona izato nanjo ny olona, no mitomany izy? Ary nambarany azy ny tenin’ ny mponina tao Jabesy.
Just then Saul was returning from the field, behind his oxen. “What troubles the people?” asked Saul. “Why are they weeping?” And they relayed to him the words of the men from Jabesh.
6 Dia nilatsaka tamin’ i Saoly ny Fanahin’ Andriamanitra, ka nirehitra mafy ny fahatezeran’ i Saoly, raha nandre izany teny izany.
When Saul heard their words, the Spirit of God rushed upon him, and he burned with great anger.
7 Dia naka omby roa izy, ka norasainy ireo, dia nampitondrainy ny iraka ho any amin’ ny fari-tanin’ ny Isiraely rehetra ka nataony hoe: Na iza na iza tsy mivoaka hanaraka an’ i Saoly sy Samoela, dia tahaka ireny no hanaovana ny ombiny. Dia nahazo ny olona ny fahatahorana an’ i Jehovah, ka nivoaka toy ny olona iray ihany izy.
He took a pair of oxen, cut them into pieces, and sent them by messengers throughout the land of Israel, proclaiming, “This is what will be done to the oxen of anyone who does not march behind Saul and Samuel.” Then the terror of the LORD fell upon the people, and they turned out as one man.
8 Ary nandamina azy tany Bezeka izy, dia telo hetsy no isan’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely, ary telo alina no isan’ ny lehilahy amin’ ny Joda.
And when Saul numbered them at Bezek, there were 300,000 Israelites and 30,000 men of Judah.
9 Ary hoy izy tamin’ ny iraka izay tonga teo: Izao no holazainareo amin’ ny mponina ao Jabesi-gileada: Rahampitso ilay efa mafampana iny dia hisy famonjena ho anareo. Dia tonga ny iraka ka nanambara izany tamin’ ny mponina tao Jabesy; ka dia faly ireo.
So they said to the messengers who had come, “Tell the men of Jabesh-gilead: ‘Deliverance will be yours tomorrow by the time the sun is hot.’” And when the messengers relayed this to the men of Jabesh, they rejoiced.
10 Ary hoy ny mponina tao Jabesy: Rahampitso no hivoahanay ho eny aminareo, dia hataonareo aminay izay rehetra sitrakareo.
Then the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, “Tomorrow we will come out, and you can do with us whatever seems good to you.”
11 Ary nony maraina, dia nozarain’ i Saoly ho telo toko ny olona, ka tonga teo amin’ ny toby tamin’ ny fiambenana maraina izy ary namely ny Amonita mandra-pahafampanan’ ny andro; koa izay sisa dia niely patrana, ka tsy nisy olona tafaraka na dia hatramin’ ny roa aza.
The next day Saul organized the troops into three divisions, and during the morning watch they invaded the camp of the Ammonites and slaughtered them, until the hottest part of the day. And the survivors were so scattered that no two of them were left together.
12 Ary hoy ny vahoaka tamin’ i Samoela: Iza moa no nanao hoe: Saoly va no hanjaka aminay? Atolory ireny olona ireny hataonay maty.
Then the people said to Samuel, “Who said that Saul should not reign over us? Bring those men here so we can kill them!”
13 Fa hoy Saoly: Tsy hisy olona hatao maty anio; fa androany no nanaovan’ i Jehovah famonjena teo amin’ ny Isiraely.
But Saul ordered, “No one shall be put to death this day, for today the LORD has worked salvation in Israel.”
14 Ary hoy Samoela tamin’ ny vahoaka: Andeha isika hankany Gilgala hanavao ny fanjakana any.
Then Samuel said to the people, “Come, let us go to Gilgal and renew the kingship there.”
15 Dia lasa ny vahoaka nankany Gilgala; ary tany Gilgala no nananganany an’ i Saoly ho mpanjaka teo anatrehan’ i Jehovah; ary tany no nanaterany fanati-pihavanana teo anatrehan’ i Jehovah, dia nifaly indrindra teo Saoly mbamin’ ny lehilahy rehetra amin’ ny Isiraely.
So all the people went to Gilgal and confirmed Saul as king in the presence of the LORD. There they sacrificed peace offerings before the LORD, and Saul and all the Israelites rejoiced greatly.
