1 Petera, Apostolin’ i Jesosy Kristy, mamangy ny mpivahiny monina any am-pielezana any Ponto, Galatia, Kapadokia, Asia sy Bitynia, dia olom-boafidy
To the people of God who are living abroad, dispersed throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Roman Asia, and Bithynia,
2 araka ny fahalalana rahateo, izay an’ Andriamanitra Ray, amin’ ny fanamasinan’ ny Fanahy, ho amin’ ny fanarahana sy ny famafazan’ ny ran’ i Jesosy Kristy: hampitomboina ho anareo anie ny fahasoavana sy ny fiadanana.
and who were chosen in accordance with the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the consecration of the Spirit, to learn obedience, and to be purified by the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ, from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. May blessing and peace be yours in ever increasing measure.
3 Isaorana anie Andriamanitra, Rain’ i Jesosy Kristy Tompontsika, Izay niteraka antsika indray araka ny haben’ ny famindram-pony ho amin’ ny fanantenana velona tamin’ ny nitsanganan’ i Jesosy Kristy tamin’ ny maty,
Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has, in his great mercy, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 ho amin’ ny lova tsy mety simba, tsy misy loto, tsy mety levona, voatahiry any an-danitra ho anareo,
given us the new life of undying hope, that promises an inheritance, imperishable, stainless, unfading, which has been reserved for you in heaven –
5 izay arovan’ ny herin’ Andriamanitra amin’ ny finoana ho amin’ ny famonjena efa vonona haseho any am-parany.
for you who, through faith, are being guarded by the power of God, awaiting a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last days.
6 Izany no iravoravoanareo, na dia ampalahelovina vetivety ankehitriny amin’ ny fakam-panahy maro samy hafa aza ianareo, raha tsy maintsy hisy izany,
At the thought of this you are full of exultation, though (if it has been necessary) you have suffered for the moment somewhat from various trials;
7 mba ho hita ho fiderana sy voninahitra ary fankalazana ny fizahan-toetra ny finoanareo (izay tsara lavitra noho ny volamena mety ho simba, na dia voazaha toetra tamin’ ny afo aza), dia amin’ ny hisehoan’ i Jesosy Kristy;
that the genuineness of your faith – a thing far more precious than gold, which is perishable, yet has to be tested by fire – may win praise and glory and honor at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
8 Izay, na dia tsy mbola hitanareo aza, dia tianareo, ary na dia tsy hitanareo ankehitriny aza, anefa, satria inoanareo, dia iravoravoanareo amin’ ny fifaliana tsy azo tononina sady be voninahitra,
Though you have never seen him, yet you love him; though you do not even now see him, yet you believe in him, and exalt with a triumphant happiness too great for words,
9 mandray ny anton’ ny finoanareo, dia ny famonjena ny fanahy.
as you receive the reward of your faith in the salvation of your souls!
10 Ny amin’ izany famonjena izany dia notadiavin’ ny mpaminany sy nokatsahiny fatratra, dia ireo efa naminany ny fahasoavana ho anareo;
It was this salvation that the prophets, who spoke long ago of the blessing intended for you, sought, and strove to comprehend;
11 eny, nokatsahiny izay andro na izay toetry ny andro notondroin’ ny Fanahin’ i Kristy ao anatiny, raha nambarany rahateo ny fijalian’ i Kristy sy ny voninahitra manaraka izany.
as they strove to discern what that time could be, to which the Spirit of Christ within them was pointing, when foretelling the sufferings that Christ would have to endure, and the glories that would follow.
12 Ary naseho tamin’ ireo fa tsy ho azy, fa ho anareo no nanompoany ny amin’ izany zavatra izany, izay voalaza aminareo ankehitriny, tamin’ ny tenin’ ireo nitory ny filazantsara taminareo amin’ ny Fanahy Masìna, Izay nirahina avy tany an-danitra; izany zavatra izany dia tian’ ny anjely hodinihina.
And it was revealed to them that it was not for themselves, but for you, that they were acting as Ministers of the truths which have now been told to you, by those who, with the help of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, have brought you the good news – truths into which even angels long to look.
13 Koa amin’ izany sikino ny sainareo, dia mahonona tena, ka antenao tsara ny fahasoavana izay ho entina ho anareo amin’ ny hisehoan’ i Jesosy Kristy;
Therefore concentrate your minds, with the strictest self-control, and fix your hopes on the blessing that is coming for you at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
14 tahaka ny zanaka manoa, tsy mitondra tena araka ny filanareo fahiny tamin’ ny tsi-fahalalanareo;
Be like obedient children; do not let your lives be shaped by the passions which once swayed you in the days of your ignorance,
15 fa araka ny fahamasinan’ ilay niantso anareo, dia aoka mba ho masìna koa ianareo amin’ ny fitondran-tena rehetra,
but in your whole life show yourselves to be holy, after the pattern of the Holy One from whom you received your call.
16 satria voasoratra hoe: “Ho masìna ianareo, satria masìna Aho”.
For scripture says – ‘You will be holy, because I am holy.’
17 Ary raha Ilay tsy mizaha tavan’ olona, fa mitsara araka ny asan’ izy rehetra, no antsoinareo hoe Ray, dia mitondrà tena amin’ ny fahatahorana mandritra ny andron’ ny fivahinianareo etỳ;
And since you call on him as ‘Father,’ who judges everyone impartially by what he has done, let respectful awe be the spirit of your lives during the time of your stay on earth.
18 fa fantatrareo fa tsy zavatra mety ho simba, tahaka ny volafotsy sy ny volamena, no nanavotana anareo tamin’ ny fitondran-tena adala, izay azonareo tamin’ ny nentin-drazana,
For you know that it was not by perishable things, such as silver and gold, that you were ransomed from the aimless way of living which was handed down to you from your ancestors,
19 fa ny rà soan’ i Kristy, toy ny ran’ ny zanak’ ondry tsy misy kilema ary tsy misy pentimpentina;
but by precious blood, as it were of a lamb, unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
20 Izay fantatra rahateo, fony tsy mbola ary ny fanorenan’ izao tontolo izao, fa efa naseho tamin’ izao andro farany izao noho ny aminareo
Destined for this before the beginning of the world, he has been revealed in these last days for your sakes,
21 Izay mino an’ Andriamanitra amin’ ny alalany, dia Ilay nanangana Azy tamin’ ny maty ka nanome voninahitra Azy, ― mba hiorenan’ ny finoanareo sy ny fanantenanareo amin’ Andriamanitra.
who, through him, are faithful to God who raised him from the dead and gave him honor, so that your faith and hope are now in God.
22 Satria efa nodiovinareo ny fanahinareo tamin’ ny fanarahana ny fahamarinana ho amin’ ny fitiavan-drahalahy tsy miangatra dia mifankatiava fatratra amin’ ny fo;
Now that, by your obedience to the truth, you have purified your lives, so that there is growing up among you a genuine affection, love one another earnestly with all your hearts;
23 fa efa teraka indray ianareo, tsy tamin’ ny voa mety ho lò, fa tamin’ ny tsy mety ho lò, dia ny tenin’ Andriamanitra, izay velona sady maharitra. (aiōn g165)
since your new life has come, not from perishable, but imperishable, seed, through the message of the Everliving God. (aiōn g165)
24 Fa “ny nofo rehetra dia tahaka ny ahitra, Ary izay mety ho voninahiny dia tahaka ny vonin’ ny ahitra. Malazo ny ahitra, ka mihintsana ny voniny;
For – ‘All earthly life is but as grass, and all its splendor as the flower of grass. The grass fades, its flower falls,
