< 1 Mpanjaka 20 >
1 Ary Beni-hadada, mpanjakan’ i Syria, namory ny miaramilany rehetra, koa mpanjaka roa amby telo-polo mbamin’ ny soavaly sy ny kalesy no niaraka taminy; dia niakatra izy ka nanao fahirano an’ i Samada ary namely azy.
Ben Hadad the king of Syria gathered all his army together; and there were thirty-two kings with him, with horses and chariots. He went up and besieged Samaria, and fought against it.
2 Ary nandefa iraka ho any amin’ i Ahaba, mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely, tany an-tanàna izy
He sent messengers into the city to Ahab king of Israel and said to him, “Ben Hadad says,
3 hanao aminy hoe: Izao no lazain’ i Beni-hadada: Ny volafotsinao sy ny volamenanao dia ahy; ary ny vadinao aman-janakao, na dia ny tsara tarehy indrindra aza, dia ahy koa.
‘Your silver and your gold are mine. Your wives also and your children, even the best, are mine.’”
4 Ary ny mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely namaly hoe: Eny marina ny teninao ry mpanjaka tompoko ô: anao aho sy izay rehetra ananako.
The king of Israel answered, “It is according to your saying, my lord, O king. I am yours, and all that I have.”
5 Dia niverina indray ny iraka ka nanao hoe: Izao no tenin’ i Beni-hadada: Naniraka tatỳ aminao aho nanao hoe: Ny volafotsinao sy ny volamenanao ary ny vadinao aman-janakao dia omeo ahy;
The messengers came again and said, “Ben Hadad says, ‘I sent indeed to you, saying, “You shall deliver me your silver, your gold, your wives, and your children;
6 koa raha maniraka ny mpanompoko ho atỳ aminao aho rahampitso toy izao, ka savany ny tranonao sy ny tranon’ ny mpanomponao, dia horaisin’ ny tànany sy ho entiny avokoa izay rehetra mahafinaritra ny masonao na inona na inona.
but I will send my servants to you tomorrow about this time, and they will search your house and the houses of your servants. Whatever is pleasant in your eyes, they will put it in their hand, and take it away.”’”
7 Ary ny mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely nampaka ny loholona rehetra amin’ ny tany ka nanao hoe: Masìna ianareo, fantaro sy izahao fa mila sotasota mihitsy ilehiny; fa efa naniraka tatỳ amiko izy haka ny vadiko aman-janako mbamin’ ny volafotsiko sy ny volamenako ka tsy nolaviko.
Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, “Please notice how this man seeks mischief; for he sent to me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I didn’t deny him.”
8 Ary hoy ny loholona sy ny vahoaka rehetra taminy: Aza mihaino na manaiky.
All the elders and all the people said to him, “Don’t listen, and don’t consent.”
9 Ka dia hoy Ahaba tamin’ ny irak’ i Beni-hadada. Lazao amin’ ny mpanjaka tompoko hoe: Izay rehetra nanirahanao tany amiko mpanomponao tamin’ ny voalohany dia hataoko; fa izao zavatra izao kosa tsy azoko ekena. Dia lasa ireo iraka ka nitondra teny niverina tany amin’ i Beni-hadada indray;
Therefore he said to the messengers of Ben Hadad, “Tell my lord the king, ‘All that you sent for to your servant at the first I will do, but this thing I cannot do.’” The messengers departed and brought him back the message.
10 ary izy naniraka tany aminy ka nanao hoe: Hataon’ ireo andriamanitra amiko anie izany, eny, mihoatra noho izany aza, raha ho ampy eran-tànan-ila akory ny vovok’ i Samaria amin’ ny isan-olona manaraka ahy.
Ben Hadad sent to him, and said, “The gods do so to me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria will be enough for handfuls for all the people who follow me.”
11 Ary ny mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely namaly hoe: Izao no holazainao aminy: Aoka izay vao misikìna tsy mba hirehareha tahaka ny efa mamaha.
The king of Israel answered, “Tell him, ‘Don’t let him who puts on his armor brag like he who takes it off.’”
12 Ary rehefa ren’ i Beni-hadada izany teny izany, raha mbola nisotro tao an-trano rantsan-kazo izy sy ireo mpanjaka, dia hoy izy tamin’ ny mpanompony: Milahara ianareo. Ary dia nilahatra hamely ny tanàna izy.
When Ben Hadad heard this message as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, he said to his servants, “Prepare to attack!” So they prepared to attack the city.
13 Ary, indro, nisy mpaminany nanatona an’ i Ahaba, mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely, ka nanao hoe: Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah: Hitanao va ireo olona maro be rehetra ireo? Indro, hatolotro eo an-tananao ireo anio; dia ho fantatrao fa Izaho no Jehovah.
Behold, a prophet came near to Ahab king of Israel, and said, “Yahweh says, ‘Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I will deliver it into your hand today. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.’”
14 Ary hoy Ahaba: Amin’ iza? Ary hoy izy: Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah: Amin’ ny zatovon’ ny komandin’ ny fanapahana isan-tokony. Dia hoy izy: Iza ary no hamely aloha? Hianao ihany, hoy izy.
Ahab said, “By whom?” He said, “Yahweh says, ‘By the young men of the princes of the provinces.’” Then he said, “Who shall begin the battle?” He answered, “You.”
15 Ary nandamina ny zatovon’ ny komandin’ ny fanapahana isan-tokony izy, ka roa amby telo-polo amby roan-jato no isany; ary manarakaraka izany, dia nandamina ny olona rehetra izy, dia ny Zanak’ Isiraely rehetra, ka fito arivo no isany.
Then he mustered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty-two. After them, he mustered all the people, even all the children of Israel, being seven thousand.
16 Ary nivoaka izy nony nitataovovonana ny andro. Fa Beni-hadada nisotro ho mamo tao an-trano rantsan-kazo, dia izy sy ireo mpanjaka roa amby telo-polo izay nanampy azy.
They went out at noon. But Ben Hadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty-two kings who helped him.
17 Ary ny zatovon’ ny komandin’ ny fanapahana isan-tokony nivoaka voalohany; ary Beni-hadada naniraka, ka dia nilazana hoe: Misy olona efa nivoaka avy any Samaria.
The young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Ben Hadad sent out, and they told him, saying, “Men are coming out from Samaria.”
18 Ary hoy izy: Ataovy sambo-belona izy, na ho avy hihavana, na ho avy hiady.
He said, “If they have come out for peace, take them alive; or if they have come out for war, take them alive.”
19 Dia nivoaka avy tao an-tanàna ireo zatovon’ ny komandin’ ny fanapahana isan-totony ireo sy ny miaramila izay nanaraka azy.
So these went out of the city, the young men of the princes of the provinces, and the army which followed them.
20 Ary samy nahafaty olona iray avy izy rehetra; dia vaky nandositra ny Syriana, ka nenjehin’ ny Isiraely; ary Beni-hadada, mpanjakan’ i Syria, nandositra an-tsoavaly mbamin’ ny mpitaingin-tsoavaly sasany koa.
They each killed his man. The Syrians fled, and Israel pursued them. Ben Hadad the king of Syria escaped on a horse with horsemen.
21 Ary ny mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely nivoaka, dia namely: ny an-tsoavaly sy ny an-kalesy, ka nahafatesany be dia be ny Syriana.
The king of Israel went out and struck the horses and chariots, and killed the Syrians with a great slaughter.
22 Ary ilay mpaminany nankany amin’ ny i mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely ka nanao taminy hoe: Mahereza tsara, ary fantaro sy izahao izay ataonao; fa raha miherina ny taona, dia hiakatra indray ny mpanjakan’ i Syria hiady aminao.
The prophet came near to the king of Israel and said to him, “Go, strengthen yourself, and plan what you must do, for at the return of the year, the king of Syria will come up against you.”
23 Ary hoy ny mpanompon’ ny mpanjakan’ i Syria taminy: Andriamanitry ny havoana ny Andriamanitr’ izy ireo, koa izany no nahareseny antsika; fa aoka ange isika hiady aminy eny an-tany lemaka, raha tsy ho resintsika izy e!
The servants of the king of Syria said to him, “Their god is a god of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we. But let’s fight against them in the plain, and surely we will be stronger than they.
24 Koa izao zavatra izao no ataovy: Esory ny mpanjaka samy hiala amin’ ny toerany avy, ka asio mpanapaka hisolo azy;
Do this thing: take the kings away, every man out of his place, and put captains in their place.
25 ary ianao kosa dia makà miaramila ho anao toraka ny miaramilanao izay maty teo ary soavaly ho solon’ ny soavaly sy kalesy ho solon’ ny kalesy; ary hiady aminy eny an-tany lemaka isika, ka dia hahery noho izy tokoa. Ary nanaiky ny tenin’ ireo izy, ka dia nataony izany.
Muster an army like the army that you have lost, horse for horse and chariot for chariot. We will fight against them in the plain, and surely we will be stronger than they are.” He listened to their voice and did so.
26 Ary nony niherina ny taona, dia nandamina ny Syriana Beni-hadada ka niakatra nankany Afeka hiady amin’ ny Isiraely.
At the return of the year, Ben Hadad mustered the Syrians and went up to Aphek to fight against Israel.
27 Ary ny Zanak’ Isiraely rehetra kosa dia nalamina sy novatsiana, ka dia lasa hiady aminy; ary ny Zanak’ Isiraely nitoby tandrifiny toy ny osy andiany kely roa toko; fa ny Syriana kosa nanenika ny tany.
The children of Israel were mustered and given provisions, and went against them. The children of Israel encamped before them like two little flocks of young goats, but the Syrians filled the country.
28 Ary nanatona ilay lehilahin’ Andriamanitra ka nilaza tamin’ ny mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely hoe: Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah: Satria ny Syriana nilaza hoe: Andriamanitry ny havoana ihany Jehovah, fa tsy mba Andriamanitry ny tany lemaka, dia hatolotro eo an-tananao ireo olona maro be rehetra ireo, ka dia ho fantatrao fa Izaho no Jehovah.
A man of God came near and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, “Yahweh says, ‘Because the Syrians have said, “Yahweh is a god of the hills, but he is not a god of the valleys,” therefore I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am Yahweh.’”
29 Dia nitoby mifanandrify hafitoana izy roa tonta. Ary tamin’ ny andro fahafito, dia raikitra ny ady; ary ny Zanak’ Isiraely nahafaty ny miaramila an-tongotra iray hetsy tamin’ ny Syriana indray andro.
They encamped opposite each other for seven days. Then on the seventh day the battle was joined; and the children of Israel killed one hundred thousand footmen of the Syrians in one day.
30 Fa ny sisa dia nandositra nankany an-tanàna Afeka; nefa nianjeran’ ny manda ireny olona sisa ireny, ary fito arivo amby roa alina no isany. Ary Beni-hadada nandositra nankany an-tanàna ka niditra tao amin’ ny efi-trano anatiny.
But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and the wall fell on twenty-seven thousand men who were left. Ben Hadad fled and came into the city, into an inner room.
31 Fa hoy ny mpanompony taminy: Indro, efa renay fa mpanjaka mamindra fo ireo mpanjakan’ ny taranak’ Isiraely. Koa masìna ianao, avelao hosikinanay lamba fisaonana ny valahanay, ary hasianay mahazaka ny lohanay, dia hankany amin’ ny mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely izahay; angamba hovelominy ny ainao.
His servants said to him, “See now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings. Please let us put sackcloth on our bodies and ropes on our heads, and go out to the king of Israel. Maybe he will save your life.”
32 Dia nosikinany lamba fisaonana ny valahany, ary nasiany mahazaka ny lohany, dia nankany amin’ ny mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely izy ka nanao hoe: Izao no fitenin’ i Beni-hadada mpanomponao: Avelao mba ho velona ny aiko. Ary hoy izy: Moa mbola velona ihany va izy? Rahalahiko izy.
So they put sackcloth on their bodies and ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, “Your servant Ben Hadad says, ‘Please let me live.’” He said, “Is he still alive? He is my brother.”
33 Ary nataon’ ireo olona ireo fa zara ho azy izany, dia namonjy nanantitra ny teniny izy ka nanao hoe: Rahalahinao hoe Beni-adada. Dia hoy izy: Mandehana, alao izy. Ary Beni-hadada nankany aminy, dia nasainy niakatra ho eo amin’ ny kalesiny.
Now the men observed diligently and hurried to take this phrase; and they said, “Your brother Ben Hadad.” Then he said, “Go, bring him.” Then Ben Hadad came out to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.
34 Ary hoy Beni-hadada taminy: Ny tanàna izay nalain’ ny raiko tamin’ ny rainao dia hampodiko; ary manaova lalambe ho anao any Damaskosy, tahaka ny nataon’ ny raiko tany Samaria. Ary hoy Ahaba: Halefako ianao amin’ izany fanekena izany. Dia nanao fanekena taminy izy ka nandefa azy.
Ben Hadad said to him, “The cities which my father took from your father I will restore. You shall make streets for yourself in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria.” “I”, said Ahab, “will let you go with this covenant.” So he made a covenant with him and let him go.
35 Ary nisy lehilahy anankiray, zanaky ny mpaminany, niteny tamin’ ny namany araka ny tenin’ i Jehovah ka nanao hoe: Masìna ianao asio aho. Fa tsy nety namely azy ilay lehilahy.
A certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his fellow by Yahweh’s word, “Please strike me!” The man refused to strike him.
36 Dia hoy izy taminy: Satria ianao tsy nihaino ny feon’ i Jehovah, indro, fa raha vao miala amiko eto ianao, dia hisy liona hamono anao. Ary raha vao niala teo aminy izy, dia hitan’ ny liona ka novonoiny.
Then he said to him, “Because you have not obeyed Yahweh’s voice, behold, as soon as you have departed from me, a lion will kill you.” As soon as he had departed from him, a lion found him and killed him.
37 Ary nahita lehilahy hafa indray ralehilahy ka nanao hoe: Masìna ianao, asio aho. Ary ilay lehilahy namely azy, dia voa izy ka naratra.
Then he found another man, and said, “Please strike me.” The man struck him and wounded him.
38 Dia lasa ilay mpaminany ka niandry ny mpanjaka teny an-dalana, ary nasiany fehiloha tamin’ ny handriny tsy hahafantarany azy.
So the prophet departed and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with his headband over his eyes.
39 Ary nony nandalo ny mpanjaka, dia nitaraina taminy ilay mpaminany ka nanao hoe: Izaho mpanomponao nankany anatin’ ny ady; ary, indro, nisy lehilahy anankiray nivily ka nitondra lehilahy tany amiko sady nanao hoe: Hazony ity lehilahy ity; fa raha tahìny lasa izy, dia ny ainao no hisolo ny amy, na handoa talenta volafotsy iray ianao.
As the king passed by, he cried to the king, and he said, “Your servant went out into the middle of the battle; and behold, a man came over and brought a man to me, and said, ‘Guard this man! If by any means he is missing, then your life shall be for his life, or else you shall pay a talent of silver.’
40 Kanjo nony nikeninkenina tetsy sy teroa ny mpanomponao, dia lasa izy. Ary hoy ny mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely taminy: Ho tahaka izany ihany no hitsarana anao; ny tenanao no nilaza izany.
As your servant was busy here and there, he was gone.” The king of Israel said to him, “So shall your judgment be. You yourself have decided it.”
41 Ary nesoriny haingana ilay fehi-loha tamin’ ny handriny; ka dia fantatry ny mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely fa isan’ ny mpaminany izy.
He hurried, and took the headband away from his eyes; and the king of Israel recognized that he was one of the prophets.
42 Dia hoy izy taminy: Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah: Satria nalefanao niala teo an-tananao ny lehilahy izay nasaiko hovonoina tokoa, dia ny ainao no hisolo ny ainy, ary ny olonao no hisolo ny olony.
He said to him, “Yahweh says, ‘Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life will take the place of his life, and your people take the place of his people.’”
43 Ary ny mpanjakan’ ny Isiraely nandeha ho any an-tranony sady nalahelo no sosotra, dia tonga tany Samaria.
The king of Israel went to his house sullen and angry, and came to Samaria.
