< 1 Tantara 21 >
1 Ary Satana nitsangana hampidi-doza tamin’ ny Isiraely ka nanome saina an’ i Davida hanisa ny Isiraely.
Then the accuser stood up, against Israel, —and moved David, to number Israel.
2 Dia hoy Davida tamin’ i Joaba sy tamin’ ireo lehiben’ ny vahoaka: Mandehana, isao ny Isiraely hatrany Beri-sheba ka hatrany Dana; ary ento atỳ amiko ny isany mba ho fantatro.
And David said unto Joab and unto the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel, from Beer-sheba even unto Dan, —and bring [the report] unto me, that I may know the number of them.
3 Fa hoy Joaba: Jehovah anie hampitombo ny olony ho injato toy izao na firy na firy izy; fa moa tsy mpanompon’ ny tompoko izy rehetra, ry mpanjaka tompoko? Koa inona indray no itadiavan’ ny tompoko izany zavatra izany? Nahoana no dia hampahadiso ny Isiraely?
Then said Joab, May Yahweh add unto his people, as many as they are, a hundred times, but are they not, my lord O king, all of them my lord’s, as servants? wherefore should my lord seek this? wherefore should it become guilt to Israel?
4 Nefa tsy azon’ i Joaba nolavina ny tenin’ ny mpanjaka; ka dia niainga izy ka nitety ny Isiraely rehetra; dia tonga tany Jerosalema indray izy.
But, the word of the king, prevailed against Joab, —and Joab departed, and went to and fro throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
5 Ary natolotr’ i Joaba an’ i Davida ny isan’ ny olona voalamina, ka nisy iray hetsy sy iray tapitrisa ny lehilahy mahatan-tsabatra teo amin’ ny Isiraely; ary fito alina sy efatra hetsy ny lehilahy mahatan-tsabatra teo amin’ ny Joda.
And Joab delivered the sum of the number of the people, unto David, —and all Israel was found to be a thousand thousand and a hundred thousand men, who drew sword, and Judah, four hundred and seventy thousand men, who drew sword.
6 Fa ny Levy sy ny Benjamina tsy mba nalaminy, satria fahavetavetana tamin’ i Joaba ny tenin’ ny mpanjaka.
But, Levi and Benjamin, counted he not among them, —for detestable was the word of the king unto Joab.
7 Ary tsy sitrak’ Andriamanitra izany zavatra izany; ka dia namely ny Isiraely Izy.
And it was displeasing in the eyes of God, concerning this thing, —therefore smote he Israel.
8 Ary hoy Davida tamin’ Andriamanitra; Efa nanota indrindra aho tamin’ izao nataoko izao; koa ankehitriny, mifona aminao aho, esory ny heloky ny mpanomponao, fa efa nanao fahadalana lehibe tokoa aho.
And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing, —but, now, I beseech thee, take away the iniquity of thy servant, for I have shown myself very foolish.
9 Ary hoy Jehovah tamin’ i Gada mpahitan’ i Davida:
Then spake Yahweh unto Gad, the seer of David saying:
10 Mandehana, ka lazao amin’ i Davida hoe: Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah: Zavatra telo loha no apetrako eto anoloanao, koa fidio izay iray hataoko aminao.
Go—and thou shalt speak unto David, saying, Thus, saith Yahweh, Three things, do I offer thee, —choose thee one from among them, that I may do it unto thee.
11 Ary Gada nankany amin’ i Davida ka nanao taminy hoe: Izao no lazain’ i Jehovah: Mifidia:
So Gad came unto David, —and said to him, Thus, saith Yahweh,
12 Mosary telo taona va? Sa fandringanana eo alohan’ ny fahavalonao telo volana, raha tratry ny sabatry ny fahavalonao ianao? Sa ny sabatr’ i Jehovah, dia areti-mandringana, no hamely ny tany hateloana, ka Ilay Anjelin’ i Jehovah handringana eran’ ny tanin’ ny Isiraely rehetra? Koa hevero tsara izay valiny ho entiko miverina any amin’ Izay naniraka ahy.
Choose thee: —Whether, for three years, [there be] famine, Or, for three months, that thou flee before thine adversaries, while the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee, Or, for three days, the sword of Yahweh, and pestilence be in the land, with, the messenger of Yahweh, laying waste throughout all the boundary of Israel, —Now, therefore, see, what, answer, I shall return unto him that sent me.
13 Ary hoy Davida tamin’ i Gada: Indrisy! poritra loatra aho! nefa aleoko ho azon’ ny tànan’ i Jehovah, fa lehibe ny famindram-pony toy izay ho azon’ izay tànan’ olona.
And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait, —Oh let me fall, I pray thee, into the hand of Yahweh, for abounding are his compassions, exceedingly, but, into the hand of man, let me not fall.
14 Dia nasian’ i Jehovah areti-mandringana ny Isiraely ka nahafatesana fito alina izy.
So Yahweh laid pestilence, upon Israel, —and there fell, of Israel, seventy thousand men.
15 Ary Andriamanitra naniraka Anjely hankany Jerosalema handrava azy; ary raha ilay mbola nandrava iny Izy, dia nijery Jehovah ka nanenina ny amin’ ny loza ka nanao tamin’ Ilay Anjely nandrava hoe: Aoka izay! Atsaharo ny tananao ankehitriny. Ary Ilay Anjelin’ i Jehovah nitsangana teo anilan’ ny famoloan’ i Araona Jebosita.
And God sent a messenger to Jerusalem, to lay it waste, but, as he was laying it waste, Yahweh looked, and relented concerning the calamity, and said unto the messenger who was laying waste, Enough! now, stay thy hand. And, the messenger of Yahweh, was standing by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
16 Ary Davida nanopy ny masony ka nahita Ilay Anjelin’ i Jehovah nitsangana teo anelanelan’ ny tany sy ny lanitra sady nitana sabatra voatsoaka teny an-tanany, izay natondrony manandrify an’ i Jerosalema. Dia niankohoka Davida sy ny loholon’ ny Isiraely, izay efa samy nitafy lamba fisaonana.
And, when David lifted up his eyes, and saw the messenger of Yahweh, standing, between the earth and the heavens, and his sword drawn, in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem, then fell David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, upon their faces.
17 Ary hoy Davida tamin’ Andriamanitra: Tsy izaho va no nandidy hanisa ny vahoaka? Izaho no nanota sy nanao ratsy tokoa; fa ireo ondry ireo kosa, inona moa no mba nataony? Eny, Jehovah Andriamanitro ô, mifona aminao re aho, aoka ny tananao hamely ahy sy ny mpianakavin’ ny raiko, fa aza ny olonao no asianao amin’ ny areti-mandringana.
And David said unto God, Was it not, I, who gave word to number the people? Yea, I, it was who sinned and did the great wrong, what then had, these sheep, done? O Yahweh, my God, let thy hand, I beseech thee, be against me, and against the house of my father, but not against, thy people, that they should be plagued!
18 Ary Gada nasain’ Ilay Anjelin’ i Jehovah hilaza amin’ i Davida mba hiakatra hanangana alitara ho an’ i Jehovah ao amin’ ny famoloan’ i Araona Jebosita.
And, the messenger of Yahweh, commanded Gad, to say unto David, —that David should go up, to rear an altar unto Yahweh, in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
19 Koa dia niakatra Davida araka ny tenin’ i Gada, izay nolazainy tamin’ ny anaran’ i Jehovah.
So David went up, according to the word of Gad, which he spake in the name of Yahweh.
20 Ary Araona niherika ka nahita Ilay Anjely; ary ny zanany efa-dahy izay teo aminy dia niery. Ary Araona nively vary tao tamin’ izay.
And Ornan turned, and saw the messenger, but, his four sons with him, were hiding themselves, —now, Ornan, had been threshing wheat.
21 Ary nony tonga teo amin’ i Araona Davida, dia nijery Araona ka nahita an’ i Davida, ary dia niala avy teo amin’ ny famoloana izy ka niankohoka tamin’ ny tany teo anatrehan’ i Davida.
Then came David unto Ornan, —and Ornan looked, and saw David, and went forth out of the threshing-floor, and bowed himself unto David, with his face to the ground.
22 Ary hoy Davida tamin’ i Araona: Mba omeo ahy amin’ izay tokom-bidiny ity famoloana ity hanorenako alitara ho an’ i Jehovah; omeo ahy izy, mba hitsaharan’ ny areti-mandringana tsy hamely ny vahoaka.
And David said unto Ornan, Grant me the place of the threshing-floor, that I may build thereon an altar, unto Yahweh, —for silver in full, shalt thou grant it me, that the plague may be stayed from off the people.
23 Fa hoy Araona tamin’ i Davida: Ento ary ho anao, ary aoka ny mpanjaka tompoko hanao izay sitrany; indro, omeko koa ny omby ho fanatitra dorana ary ny fivelezam-bary ho kitay ary ny vary tritika ho fanatitra hohanina; foiko avokoa izy rehetra.
And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do what is good in his own eyes, —see! I have given the oxen for ascending-sacrifices, and, the threshing implements for wood, and the wheat for a meal-offering, —the whole, have I given.
24 Fa hoy Davida mpanjaka tamin’ i Araona: Tsia, fa hovidiko mihitsy araka izay tokom-bidiny; fa tsy haka izay anao ho an’ i Jehovah aho ary tsy hanatitra fanatitra dorana amin’ izay azoko fotsiny.
Then said King David to Ornan, Nay! but I will, surely buy, it for silver in full, —for I will not take that which is thine for Yahweh, nor offer an ascending-sacrifice that hath cost me nothing.
25 Dia nomen’ i Davida sekely volamena lanjan’ enin-jato Araona ho vidin’ ny tany.
So David gave to Ornan, for the place, —shekels of gold, by weight, six hundred.
26 Ary Davida nanorina alitara teo ho an’ i Jehovah ka nanatitra fanatitra dorana sy fanati-pihavanana; dia niantso an’ i Jehovah izy ka novaliany tamin’ ny afo avy tany an-danitra, izay latsaka teo amin’ ny alitara fandoroana ny fanatitra dorana.
And David built there an altar unto Yahweh, and caused to go up ascending-sacrifices, and peace-offerings, —and called unto Yahweh, and he responded to him, by fire, out of the heavens, upon the altar of ascending-sacrifice.
27 Ary Jehovah nandidy Ilay Anjely, ka dia nampidiriny tamin’ ny tranony ny sabany.
And Yahweh gave word to tile messenger, and he put back his sword into its sheath.
28 Tamin’ izany andro izany, nony hitan’ i Davida fa novalian’ i Jehovah teo amin’ ny famoloan’ i Araona Jebosita izy, dia namono zavatra hatao fanatitra teo izy.
At that time, when David saw that Yahweh had answered him in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
29 Fa ny tabernakelin’ i Jehovah izay nataon’ i Mosesy tany an-efitra sy ny alitara fandoroana ny fanatitra dorana kosa dia teo amin’ ny fitoerana avo tao Gibeona fahizay;
But, the habitation of Yahweh, which Moses made in the desert, and the altar of ascending-sacrifice, were, at that time, in the high place at Gibeon;
30 nefa Davida tsy nahazo nankeo anoloan’ izany hanontany amin’ Andriamanitra; fa raiki-tahotra izy noho ny sabatr’ Ilay Anjelin’ i Jehovah.
and David could not go before it, to seek God, —for he had been terrified, because of the sword of the messenger of Yahweh.
