1 Ary Davida naka saina tamin’ ny mpifehy arivo sy ny mpifehy zato, dia ny mpifehy rehetra,
David had discussions with all his leaders, including the army commanders of thousands and hundreds.
2 Ka hoy Davida tamin’ ny Isiraely rehetra izay tafangona: Raha ataonareo ho mety, sady avy amin’ i Jehovah Andriamanitsika izany, dia andeha isika haniraka faingana any amin’ ny rahalahintsika rehetra izay sisa amin’ ny tanin’ ny Isiraely rehetra ary amin’ ny mpisorona sy ny Levita koa, izay any amin’ ny tanànany sy ny tany manodidina azy, mba hivory atỳ amintsika;
Then he addressed the whole assembly of Israel, saying, “If you agree, and if God approves, let us send an invitation to every Israelite in the land, including the priests and Levites in their towns and pastures, to come and join us.
3 Ary aoka ho entintsika atỳ amintsika indray ny fiaran’ Andriamanitsika; fa tsy nahoantsika tamin’ ny andron’ i Saoly izany.
Let us bring the Ark of our God back to us, because we forgot about it during the time of Saul.”
4 Ary ny olona rehetra izay tafangona dia nanaiky hanao izany, satria marina teo imason’ ny olona rehetra izany.
The whole assembly was pleased with the proposal, agreeing that this would be a good thing to do.
5 Dia novorin’ i Davida ny Isiraely rehetra hatrany Sihora any Egypta ka hatrany akaikin’ i Hamata haka ny fiaran’ Andriamanitra avy any Kiriata-jearima.
So David summoned all of Israel, from the Shihor River of Egypt up to Lebo-hamath, to help bring the Ark from Kiriath-jearim.
6 Dia niakatra Davida sy ny Isiraely rehetra hankany Bala any Joda (Kiriata-jearima izany) hampakatra ny fiaran’ i Jehovah Andriamanitra, Izay mipetraka amin’ ny kerobima, dia ilay niantsoany ny anarany.
So David and all of Israel went to Baalah (otherwise called Kiriath-jearim) in Judah to bring back the Ark of God the Lord, whose throne is between the cherubim and who is called by the Name.
7 Ary nentiny tamin’ ny sariety vaovao niala tao an-tranon’ i Abinadaba ny fiaran’ Andriamanitra, ary Oza sy Ahio no nampandeha ny sariety.
They loaded the Ark of God onto a brand new cart and brought it from Adinadab's house, with Uzzah and Ahio directing it.
8 Ary Davida sy ny Isiraely rehetra dia nitsinjaka fatratra teo anatrehan’ Andriamanitra tamin’ ny hira sy ny lokanga sy ny valiha sy ny ampongatapaka sy ny kipantsona ary ny trompetra.
David and all of Israel were celebrating before the Lord as loudly as possible, singing sings and playing music on lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.
9 Ary nony tonga teo amin’ ny famoloan’ i Kidona izy, dia naninjitra ny tànany hihazona ny fiara Oza, satria nazeran’ ny omby izany.
But when they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, the oxen stumbled and Uzzah stretched out his hand to stop the Ark falling.
10 Dia nirehitra tamin’ i Oza ny fahatezeran’ i Jehovah, ka namely azy Izy noho ny naninjirany ny tànany tamin’ ny fiara, dia maty teo anatrehan’ Andriamanitra izy.
The Lord was angry with Uzzah for daring to touch the Ark like this so he struck him down, and Uzzah died there before the Lord.
11 Ary dia tezitra Davida noho ny namelezan’ i Jehovah an’ i Oza, ka dia nataony hoe Perez-oza no anaran’ izany tany izany mandraka androany.
David became angry with the Lord for his violent outburst against Uzzah. He named the place Perez-uzzah, and it is still called that today.
12 Ary Davida natahotra an’ Andriamanitra tamin’ izany andro izany ka nanao hoe: Nahoana aho no hitondra ny fiaran’ Andriamanitra ho atỳ amiko?
David became afraid of God that day. “How can I ever bring back the Ark of God home to me?” he asked.
13 Dia tsy nafindran’ i Davida ho ao aminy ao an-tanànan’ i Davida ny fiara, fa naviliny ho ao an-tranon’ i Obed-edoma Gatita.
So David did not move the Ark of God to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he had it taken to the home of Obed-edom the Gittite.
14 Ary nipetraka telo volana tao amin’ ny ankohonan’ i Obed-edoma tao an-tranony ny fiaran’ Andriamanitra; ka dia notahin’ i Jehovah ny ankohonan’ i Obed-edoma sy izay rehetra nananany.
The Ark of God remained in Obed-edom's home for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-edom's household and all that he had.
