< 1 Tantara 10 >
1 Ary ny Filistina niady tamin’ ny Isiraely, ary nandositra teo anoloan’ ny Filistina ny lehilahy amin’ ny Isiraely, ka niampatrampatra teny an-tendrombohitra Gilboa ny faty.
Now the Philistines fought against Israel, and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down wounded in mount Gelboe.
2 Ary ny Filistina nanenjika fatratra an’ i Saoly sy ny zanany, ka matin’ ny Filistina Jonatana sy Abinadaba sy Malkisoa, zanakalahin’ i Saoly.
And the Philistines drew near pursuing after Saul, and his sons, and they killed Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Melchisua the sons of Saul.
3 Ary mafy ny ady tamin’ i Saoly, dia nifanehatra tamin’ ny mpandefa tsipìka izy; ary raiki-tahotra izy noho ny mpandefa tsipìka.
And the battle grew hard against Saul, and the archers reached him, and wounded him with arrows.
4 Ka hoy Saoly tamin’ ny mpitondra ny fiadiany: Tsoahy ny sabatrao, ka tsatohy miboroaka aho; fandrao avy irery tsy mifora irery ka hanao ahy ho fihomehezana. Nefa tsy nety ny mpitondra ny fiadiany, fa natahotra loatra izy. Dia nalain’ i Saoly ny sabatra ka nianjerany.
And Saul said to his armourbearer: Draw thy sword, and kill me: lest these uncircumcised come, and mock me. But his armourbearer would not, for he was struck with fear: so Saul took his sword, and fell upon it.
5 Ary rehefa hitan’ ny mpitondra ny fiadiana fa maty Saoly, dia mba nianjera tamin’ ny sabany koa izy ka maty.
And when his armourbearer saw it, to wit, that Saul was dead, he also fell upon his sword and died.
6 Ka dia niara-maty Saoly sy ny zanany telo lahy ary ny ankohonany rehetra.
So Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house fell together.
7 Ary nony hitan’ ny lehilahy rehetra amin’ ny Isiraely teny amin’ ny lohasaha fa nandositra ny olona, ary maty Saoly sy ny zanany, dia niala tamin’ ny tanànany izy ka nandositra; ary dia tonga ny Filistina ka nonina tao.
And when the men of Israel, that dwelt in the plains, saw this, they fled: and Saul and his sons being dead, they forsook their cities, and were scattered up and down: and the Philistines came, and dwelt in them.
8 Ary nony ampitso, raha tonga haka ny zavatra teo amin’ ny faty ny Filistina, dia nahita an’ i Saoly sy ny zananilahy niampatrampatra teo an-tendrombohitra Gilboa izy.
And the next day the Philistines taking away the spoils of them that were slain, found Saul and his sons lying on mount Gelboe.
9 Dia nesoriny ny akanjony, ka nentiny ny lohany sy ny fiadiany, ary dia naniraka tany amin’ ny tanin’ ny Filistina manodidina izy hanambara izany zavatra mahafaly izany tamin’ ny sampiny sy ny olona.
And when they had stripped him, and cut off his head, and taken away his armour, they sent it into their land, to be carried about, and shewn in the temples of the idols and to the people.
10 Dia napetrany tao an-tranon’ ny andriamaniny ny fiadian’ i Saoly, ary nohomboany teo amin’ ny tempolin’ i Dagona ny lohany.
And his armour they dedicated in the temple of their god, and his head they fastened up in the temple of Dagon.
11 Ary nony ren’ ny mponina rehetra tao Jabesi-gileada izay rehetra nataon’ ny Filistina tamin’ i Saoly,
And when the men of Jabes Galaad had heard this, to wit, all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
12 dia niainga ny lehilahy mahery rehetra naka ny fatin’ i Saoly sy ny fatin’ ny zanany ka nitondra azy ho any Jabesy, ary nandevina ny taolany teo ambanin’ ilay hazo terebinta tany Jabesy izy, ary dia nifady hanina hafitoana.
All the valiant men of them arose, and took the bodies of Saul and of his sons, and brought them to Jabes, and buried their bones under the oak that was in Jabes, and they fasted seven days.
13 Eny, maty Saoly noho ny nivadihany tamin’ i Jehovah, dia noho ny tsy nitandremany ny tenin’ i Jehovah sy noho ny nakany saina tamin’ izay nanao azy ho tsindrian-javatra
So Saul died for his iniquities, because he transgressed the commandment of the Lord, which he had commanded, and kept it not: and moreover consulted also a witch,
14 ary noho ny tsy nanontaniany tamin’ i Jehovah; ka dia novonoiny izy, ary nafindrany ho an’ i Davida, zanak’ i Jese, ny fanjakana.
And trusted not is the Lord: therefore he slew him, and transferred his kingdom to David the son of Isai.
