< Zekkaliya 1 >
1 Mu mwaka ogwokubiri ogw’obufuzi bwa kabaka Daliyo omufuzi w’e Buperusi mu mwezi ogw’omunaana, ekigambo kya Mukama ne kijjira Zekkaliya omwana wa Berekiya, omwana wa Iddo nnabbi, nga kigamba nti:
In the eighth month in the second year of Darius, this message of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo:
2 “Mukama yasunguwalira nnyo bajjajjammwe.
The Lord was furious with your ancestors.
3 Naye kaakano mubagambe nti: Bw’atyo bw’ayogera Mukama Katonda ow’eggye nti, ‘Mudde gye ndi,’ bw’ayogera Mukama ow’Eggye, ‘nange nadda gye muli,’ bw’ayogera Mukama ow’Eggye.
So tell the people this message of the Lord of hosts: ‘Return to me,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘and I will return to you’ says the Lord of hosts.
4 Temuba nga bajjajjammwe, bannabbi ab’edda be baakoowoolanga nti, ‘Muve mu makubo gammwe amabi, n’ebikolwa byammwe ebikyamu.’ Naye tebampuliriza wadde okuŋŋondera, bw’ayogera Mukama.
‘Do not be like your ancestors to whom the former prophets cried, “The Lord of hosts says to turn now from your evil ways, and from your evil deeds”. They did not heed nor listen to me,’ says the Lord.
5 Ye bajjajjammwe bali ludda wa? Ye bannabbi babeera balamu emirembe gyonna?
‘Your ancestors, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?
6 Ebigambo byange n’ebiragiro bye nalagira abaddu bange, bannabbi, eri bajjajjammwe tebyatuukirira? “Ne balyoka beenenya ne bagamba nti, ‘Mukama ow’Eggye bye yasuubiza okutukola olw’empisa zaffe embi n’ebikolwa byaffe ebitali bya butuukirivu, bw’atyo bw’atukoledde ddala.’”
But did not my words and my statutes with which I charged my servants the prophets overtake your ancestors? And they repented and said, “Just as the Lord of hosts planned to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our deeds, so he has dealt with us.”’
7 Ku lunaku olw’amakumi abiri mu ennya, mu mwezi ogw’ekkumi n’ogumu gwe bayita Sebati, mu mwaka ogwokubiri ogw’obufuzi bwa kabaka Daliyo, ekigambo kya Mukama ne kijjira Zekkaliya mutabani wa Berekiya, omwana wa Iddo nnabbi nga kigamba nti.
In the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, this message of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo:
8 Nalaba ekiro ng’omusajja yeebagadde embalaasi emyufu era yali ayimiridde mu miti emikadasi mu kiwonvu. Emabega we waaliyo embalaasi endala, enjeru, n’eza kikuusikuusi, n’emyufu.
I saw in the night a man on a red horse, among the myrtle trees that were in the valley-bottom. Behind him there were horses, red, sorrel, and white.
9 Awo ne mbuuza nti, “Mukama wange bino bitegeeza ki?” Malayika eyali ayogera nange n’aŋŋamba nti, “Nzija kukulaga kye bitegeeza.”
Then said I, ‘My Lord, what are these?’ And the messenger who was talking with me said, ‘I will show you what they are.’
10 Awo omusajja eyali ayimiridde mu miti n’addamu nti, “Ezo embalaasi Mukama z’asindise okulawuna ensi.”
And the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered, ‘They are those whom the Lord has sent to patrol the earth.’
11 Ne ziddamu malayika wa Mukama eyali ayimiridde mu miti nti, “Tubunye ensi yonna, era laba ensi yonna esiriikiridde teriimu kanyego eteredde mirembe.”
And the riders answered the messenger of the Lord who was standing among the myrtle trees, ‘We have gone up and down through the world and behold, all the earth is still and at peace.’
12 Awo malayika wa Mukama n’agamba nti, “Ayi Mukama ow’Eggye, olituusa ddi obutakwatirwa Yerusaalemi n’ebibuga bya Yuda kisa, by’osunguwalidde okumala emyaka ensanvu?”
Then the messenger of the Lord said, ‘Lord of hosts, how long will you have no pity for Jerusalem and the cities of Judah with which you have been angry for seventy years?’
13 Mukama n’alyoka addamu malayika eyali ayogera nange ebigambo ebirungi, ebigambo ebizzaamu amaanyi.
And the Lord answered the messenger who was talking with me with kind and comforting words.
14 Awo malayika eyali ayogera nange n’agamba nti, “Langirira ogambe nti, Bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama ow’Eggye nti, ‘Yerusaalemi ne Sayuuni mbikwatiririddwa obuggya obw’amaanyi,
So the messenger who was talking with me said to me, ‘Proclaim now that the Lord of hosts says: I am deeply concerned for Jerusalem.
15 naye nyiigidde nnyo amawanga agali mu mirembe, kubanga abantu bange nnali mbanyiigiddeko katono naye bo ne bababonyaabonyeza ddala.’
But I am deeply angry with the arrogant, complacent nations. I was only a little angry with Israel but they made the suffering worse.
16 “Noolwekyo, bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama nti, ‘Nkomyewo mu Yerusaalemi n’ekisa. Ennyumba yange ne Yerusaalemi kyonna, bijja kuzimbibwa,’ bw’ayogera Mukama Katonda ow’Eggye.
Therefore, says the Lord, I am turning to show mercy to Jerusalem. My temple will be rebuilt in it, says the Lord of hosts, and a measuring line will be stretched over Jerusalem.
17 “Yogera n’eddoboozi ery’omwanguka nti, Mukama Katonda ow’Eggye alangiridde nti, ‘Ebibuga byange bijja kuddamu okukulukuta obugagga, era Mukama alizzaamu Sayuuni amaanyi, ne yeeroboza Yerusaalemi.’”
Proclaim again: Thus says the Lord of hosts: My cities will again overflow with prosperity and the Lord will again comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem.’
18 Awo ne nnyimusa amaaso gange, era laba, ne ndaba amayembe ana.
Now I looked up and saw four horns.
19 Malayika eyali ayogera nange ne mubuuza nti, “Amayembe ago gategeeza ki?” N’anziramu nti, “Gategeeza obuyinza obwasaasaanya abantu ab’omu Yuda, n’ab’omu Isirayiri, n’ab’omu Yerusaalemi.”
I said to the messenger who was talking with me, ‘What are these?’ He answered, ‘These are the horns which scattered Judah, Israel and Jerusalem.’
20 Awo Mukama n’andaga abaweesi bana.
Then the Lord showed me four smiths.
21 Ne mbuuza nti, “Abo bazze kukola ki?” N’addamu nti, “Ago amayembe, bwe buyinza obwasaasaanya Yuda nga tewali na muntu ayimusa mutwe gwe; naye abaweesi abana bazze okubatiisa era n’okubazikiriza, ago amawanga agaasitukira ku nsi ya Yuda okusaasaanya abantu baamu.”
I said, ‘What are these coming to do?’ He answered, ‘The horns scattered Judah, so that no one dared lift their head. But the smiths have come to terrify them, to crush the horns of the nations which lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter its people.’
