1 Abooluganda, kye njagala mu mutima gwange era kye nsabira Abayisirayiri eri Katonda, kwe kulokolebwa.
Brethren, the desire of my heart and my prayer to God for them is, that they may be saved.
2 Kubanga nkakasa nga balina obunyiikivu eri Katonda, naye si mu kutegeera.
For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
3 Mu butamanya butuukirivu bwa Katonda, bagezaako okwenoonyeza obutuukirivu, nga bagondera amateeka mu kifo ky’okugondera obutuukirivu bwa Katonda.
For being ignorant of the righteousness which is of God, and endeavoring to establish a righteousness of their own, they have not submitted themselves to the righteousness which is of God.
4 Kristo atuwa amakulu amajjuvu, buli amukkiriza n’amuwa obutuukirivu.
For Christ is the end of the Law, so that every one that believeth may obtain righteousness.
5 Musa awandiika ku butuukirivu obuva mu mateeka nti, “Omuntu alikola ebintu ebyo aliba mulamu mu byo.”
For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the Law: “The man that hath done these things shall live by them.”
6 Naye okukkiriza okuva mu butuukirivu, kugamba nti, “Toyogeranga mu mutima gwo nti, ‘Ani alirinnya mu ggulu?’ (kwe kuggya Kristo mu ggulu)
But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh thus: Say not in thy heart, “Who shall ascend into heaven?” that is, to bring Christ down.
7 newaakubadde okugamba nti, ‘Ani alikka emagombe?’ (kwe kuggya Kristo mu bafu.)” (Abyssos g12)
Or, “Who shall descend into the abyss?” that is, to bring up Christ from the dead. (Abyssos g12)
8 Abo bonna abalina okukkiriza mu Kristo bagamba nti, “Ekigambo kiri kumpi naawe, kiri mu kamwa ko era kiri mu mutima gwo,” kye kigambo eky’okukkiriza kye tubuulira.
But what saith it? “The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart;” that is, the word concerning faith, which we preach;
9 Bw’oyatula n’akamwa ko nti, Yesu ye Mukama, n’okkiriza n’omutima gwo nga Katonda yamuzuukiza mu bafu, olokoka.
for if thou shalt acknowledge with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 Kubanga omuntu akkiriza na mutima gwe n’aweebwa obutuukirivu, era ayatula na kamwa ke n’alokoka.
For with the heart man believeth so as to obtain righteousness, and with the mouth professeth so as to obtain salvation.
11 Kubanga Ebyawandiikibwa bigamba nti, “Buli amukkiriza taliswazibwa.”
For the Scripture saith, “Whoever believeth in him shall not be put to shame.”
12 Tewali njawulo wakati wa Muyudaaya na Muyonaani, kubanga Mukama waabwe y’omu era ayanukula abo bonna abamukoowoola.
For there is no difference between Jew and Greek; for one and the same is Lord over all, rich to all that call upon him.
13 Buli alikoowoola erinnya lya Mukama alirokoka.
For “every one who calleth upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
14 Kale balikoowoola batya oyo gwe batakkiririzaamu? Era balikkiriza batya oyo gwe batawulirangako? Era baliwulira batya awatali abuulira?
How then shall they call on him, in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him, of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 Era balibuulira batya nga tebatumiddwa? Ekyawandiikibwa nga bwe kigamba nti, “Ebigere by’abo abategeeza amawulire amalungi, nga birungi.”
and how shall men preach, unless they are sent forth? as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!”
16 Naye si bonna abaagondera Enjiri. Isaaya agamba nti, “Mukama, waliwo akkirizza obubaka bwaffe?”
But they did not all hearken to the glad tidings. For Isaiah saith, “Lord, who hath believed what he hath heard from us?”
17 Noolwekyo okukkiriza kujja olw’okuwulira ekigambo kya Kristo.
Faith then cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
18 Naye mulowooza Abayisirayiri tebaawulira? Weewaawo baawulira. Ebyawandiikibwa bigamba nti, “Eddoboozi lyabwe lyabuna mu nsi zonna, n’ebigambo byabwe byatuuka ku nkomerero z’ensi.”
But I say, Did they not hear? Yes truly, “Their voice went forth into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.”
19 Abayisirayiri baabitegeera oba tebaabitegeera? Bw’ati Musa bw’addamu ekibuuzo ekyo: “Ndibaleetera okukwatirwa obuggya abatali ggwanga, ne mbasunguwaza olw’eggwanga eritalina kutegeera.”
But I say, Hath not Israel had knowledge? First, Moses saith, “I will move you to jealousy by that which is no nation, I will excite you to indignation by a foolish people.”
20 Ne Isaaya yali muvumu bwe yagamba nti, “Nazuulibwa abo abatannoonya, ne ndabika eri abo abatambuulirizaako.”
But Isaiah is very bold, and saith, “I was found by those who sought me not, I became known to those who inquired not for me.”
21 Naye eri Isirayiri agamba nti, “Olunaku lwonna nalumala nga ngolodde emikono gyange eri eggwanga ekkakanyavu era abantu abeewaggula.”
But concerning Israel he saith, “All the day long I have stretched out my hands to a disobedient and rebellious people.”
