1 Oluyimba nga balinnya amadaala. Lwa Dawudi. Isirayiri agamba nti, singa Katonda teyali ku ludda lwaffe,

If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;

2 singa Katonda teyali ku ludda lwaffe abalabe baffe bwe baatulumba,

If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

3 banditusaanyizzaawo mu kaseera buseera, obusungu bwabwe bwe bwatubuubuukirako.

Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

4 Amataba g’obusungu bwabwe ganditusaanyizzaawo, ne mukoka n’atukulukutirako;

Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

5 amazzi ag’obusungu bwabwe agayira ganditukuluggusizza.

Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

6 Mukama atenderezebwe atatugabuddeeyo ne tutaagulwataagulwa amannyo gaabwe.

Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as a prey to their teeth.

7 Tuwonye ng’ekinyonyi bwe kiva ku mutego gw’abatezi; omutego gukutuse, naffe tuwonye!

Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 Okubeerwa kwaffe kuli mu linnya lya Mukama, eyakola eggulu n’ensi.

Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
