< Engero 5 >
1 Mutabani, ossangayo omwoyo eri ebiragiro byange, era owulirizanga bulungi ebigambo byange eby’amagezi,
My son, attend to my wisdom. And bow thine ear to my understanding;
2 olyoke oyige okusalawo okw’amagezi, era akamwa ko kavengamu eby’obutegevu.
That thou mayest keep discretion, And that thy lips may preserve knowledge!
3 Kubanga emimwa gy’omukazi omwenzi gitonnya omubisi gw’enjuki, n’ebigambo bye biweweevu okusinga omuzigo;
Truly, the lips of a strange woman drop honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil;
4 naye enkomerero ya byonna, akaawa ng’omususa era asala ng’ekitala eky’obwogi obubiri.
But her end is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword.
5 Ebigere bye bituuka mu kufa, ebisinde bye biraga emagombe. (Sheol )
Her feet go down to death; Her steps lay hold of the under-world. (Sheol )
6 Tafaayo ku kkubo lya bulamu, amakubo ge gaakyamakyama dda, naye nga takimanyi.
That she may not ponder the way of life, Her paths waver when she heedeth it not.
7 Kaakano, batabani bange mumpulirize, temuvanga ku bigambo bya kamwa kange.
Hear me now, therefore, O children! And turn not away from the words of my mouth!
8 Mwewalenga omukazi oyo era temusembereranga luggi lwa nnyumba ye;
Remove thy way far from her. And come not nigh the door of her house:
9 si kulwa nga mufiirwa ekitiibwa kyammwe, n’okumalira ebiseera byammwe ku oyo alina ettima,
Lest thou give thy bloom to others, And thy years to a cruel one;
10 ate si kulwa nga b’otolina ky’obamanyiiko bakwavuwaza, n’amaanyi go n’ogamalira ku maka g’omulala.
Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth, And thine earnings be in the house of an alien;
11 Ku nkomerero y’obulamu bwo olisinda, ennyama yo n’omubiri gwo nga biweddewo.
And lest thou mourn in thy latter end. When thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
12 Oligamba nti, “Nga nakyawa okulabulwa, n’omutima gwange ne gukyawa okunenyezebwa,
And say, “How have I hated instruction! And how hath my heart despised reproof!
13 era ne sigondera ddoboozi ly’abasomesa bange, wadde okussaayo omwoyo eri abo abampanga amagezi.
I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined mine ear to my instructors;
14 Ntuuse ku njegoyego z’okuzikirira nga ndi wakati mu kuŋŋaaniro ly’ekibiina.”
I have well-nigh fallen into utter misery; In the midst of the congregation and the assembly.”
15 Onoonywanga amazzi ag’omu kidiba kyo, n’amazzi agava mu luzzi lwo goonoonywanga.
Drink water out of thine own cistern. And running water out of thine own well:
16 Ensulo zo zisaanye okukulukutira mu nguudo, n’enzizi zo mu bifo ebigazi eby’omu kibuga?
So shall thy fountains overflow in the streets, In the wide streets, as streams of water;
17 Leka bibeere bibyo wekka, bireme kugabanibwako b’otomanyiiko n’akamu.
They shall belong to thee alone, And not to strangers with thee;
18 Kale leka ensulo yo ebeere n’omukisa, era osanyuke ne mukazi wo ow’omu buvubuka bwo.
And thy fountain shall be blessed, Yea, thou shalt have joy in the wife of thy youth.
19 Ng’ennangaazi eyeeyagaza n’empeewo esanyusa, leka okusuuta kwe kukumalenga ennaku zonna era naye akwetoloozenga okwagala kwe.
A lovely hind, a graceful doe, Her breasts shall satisfy thee at all times, And thou shalt be always ravished with her love.
20 Lwaki mwana wange osendebwasendebwa omukazi omwenzi, n’ogwa mu kifuba ky’omukazi w’omusajja omulala?
Why, then, my son, wilt thou be ravished with a wanton, And embrace the bosom of a stranger?
21 Kubanga Mukama alaba amakubo g’omuntu gonna, era n’akebera n’amakubo ge gonna.
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, And he weigheth well all his paths.
22 Ebikolwa by’omukozi w’ebibi bimufuukira omutego, era emiguwa gy’ebikolwa bye ebibi girimusibira ddala.
His own iniquities shall ensnare the wicked; Yea, he shall be held fast by the cords of his own sins.
23 Alifa, kubanga yagaana okwekuuma, era alizikirira olw’obusirusiru bwe obungi.
He shall die for want of instruction; Yea, through the greatness of his folly he shall stagger.
