< Engero 30 >
1 Bino bye bigambo bya Aguli mutabani wa Yake; obubaka bwe yawa bwe buno: Bw’ati omusajja ono bwe yagamba Isiyeri, Isyeri ono ne Ukali.
The words of Agur the son of Jakeh; the prophecy uttered by the man unto Ithiel, [even] unto Ithiel and Ucal:
2 Ddala Ayi Katonda wange nze nsinga obutategeera, sirina kutegeera kwa bantu.
Truly I am more stupid than any one; and I have not a man's intelligence.
3 Siyize magezi, so n’oyo Omutukuvu simumanyi.
I have neither learned wisdom, nor have I the knowledge of the Holy.
4 Ani eyali alinnye mu ggulu n’akka? Ani eyali akuŋŋaanyiza empewo mu kibatu ky’engalo ze? Ani eyali asibye amazzi mu kyambalo kye? Ani eyatonda enkomerero zonna ez’ensi? Erinnya lye y’ani, ne mutabani we y’ani? Mbulira obanga obimanyi.
Who hath ascended up into the heavens, and descended? Who hath gathered the wind in his fists? Who hath bound the waters in a mantle? Who hath established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou knowest?
5 Buli kigambo kya Katonda kya mazima, era aba ngabo eri abo abamwesiga.
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
6 Toyongeranga ku bigambo bye, alemenga okukunenya naawe olabike ng’omulimba.
Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
7 Ebintu bibiri bye nkusaba; Ayi Mukama, tobinnyimanga nga sinnafa:
Two things do I ask of thee; deny me [them] not before I die:
8 Ebigambo eby’obutaliimu n’eby’obulimba binteeke wala, ate era tonjavuwazanga wadde okungaggawaza, naye ndiisanga emmere eya buli lunaku.
Remove far from me vanity and lies; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the bread of my daily need:
9 Nneme okukkutanga ne nkwegaana ne njogera nti, “Mukama ye y’ani?” Era nnemenga okuba omwavu ne nziba, ne nvumisa erinnya lya Katonda wange.
lest I be full and deny [thee], and say, Who is Jehovah? or lest I be poor and steal, and outrage the name of my God.
10 Tosekeetereranga muweereza eri mukama we, alemenga okukukolimira, naawe omusango ne gukusinga.
Speak not too much about a servant to his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be held guilty.
11 Waliwo abo abakolimira bakitaabwe ne batasabira na bannyaabwe mukisa;
There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother;
12 abo abeeraba ng’abatuukirivu bo mu maaso gaabwe, ate nga tebanaazibwangako bibi byabwe.
there is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, yet are not washed from their filthiness;
13 Waliwo abo ab’amalala amayitirivu, abatunuza okwemanya okw’ekitalo,
there is a generation, — how lofty are their eyes, how their eyelids are lifted up!
14 n’ebeerayo abo abalina amannyo agali ng’ebitala, n’emba zaabwe nga zirimu ebiso, okusaanyaawo abaavu mu nsi, n’abo abali mu kwetaaga.
— a generation whose teeth are swords, and their jaw-teeth knives, to devour the afflicted from off the earth, and the needy from [among] men.
15 Ekinoso kirina bawala baakyo babiri abaleekaana nti, “Mpa! mpa!” Waliwo ebintu bisatu ebitakkuta, weewaawo bina ebitagamba nti, “Matidde,”
The leech hath two daughters: Give, give. There are three [things] never satisfied; four which say not, It is enough:
16 Amagombe, olubuto olugumba, ettaka eritakutta mazzi, n’omuliro ogutayogera nti, “Ebyo binaamala!” (Sheol )
— Sheol, and the barren womb; the earth which is not filled with water, and the fire which saith not, It is enough. (Sheol )
17 Eriiso ly’oyo anyooma kitaawe, era n’atagondera nnyina, liriggibwamu bannamuŋŋoona ab’omu kiwonvu, ne liriibwa ensega.
The eye that mocketh at a father, and despiseth to obey a mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
18 Waliwo ebigambo bisatu eby’ekitalo ennyo gye ndi, weewaawo bina bye sitegeera:
There are three [things] too wonderful for me, and four that I know not:
19 Empungu engeri gye yeeyisaamu mu bbanga, n’omusota engeri gye gwewalulamu wakati mu mayinja, n’ekyombo gye kiseeyeeyamu ku nnyanja, n’engeri omusajja gye yeeyisaamu ng’ali n’embeerera.
The way of an eagle in the heavens, the way of a serpent upon a rock, the way of a ship in the midst of the sea, and the way of a man with a maid.
20 Bw’ati bwe yeeyisa omukazi omwenzi: alya n’asiimuula emimwa gye n’agamba nti, “Sirina kibi kye nkoze.”
Such is the way of an adulterous woman: she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.
21 Ensi ekankanira wansi w’ebintu bisatu weewaawo bina:
Under three [things] the earth is disquieted, and under four it cannot bear up:
22 omuweereza bw’afuuka kabaka, n’omusirusiru bw’akutta emmere;
Under a servant when he reigneth, and a churl when he is filled with meat;
23 n’omukazi eyadibira mu ddya; n’omuweereza omuwala bw’afumbirwa bba wa mugole we.
under an odious [woman] when she is married, and a handmaid when she is heir to her mistress.
24 Waliwo ebintu ebitono bina ku nsi, ebirina amagezi amangi ennyo.
There are four [things] little upon the earth, and they are exceeding wise:
25 Enkolooto bye biwuka ebitalina maanyi mangi, naye byeterekera emmere yaabyo mu kyeya;
The ants, a people not strong, yet they provide their food in the summer;
26 obumyu busolo bunafu naye bwezimbira ennyumba zaabwo mu mayinja;
the rock-badgers are but a feeble folk, yet they make their house in the cliff;
27 enzige tezirina kabaka, kyokka zitabaala zonna mu bibiina byazo;
the locusts have no king, yet they go forth all of them by bands;
28 omunya oyinza okugukwasa engalo, naye mu mbiri za bakabaka gusangibwamu.
thou takest hold of the lizard with the hands, yet is she in kings' palaces.
29 Waliwo ebintu bisatu ebyesimba obulungi mu kitiibwa nga bitambula, weewaawo bina ebitambulira mu kitiibwa:
There are three [things] which have a stately step, and four are comely in going:
30 empologoma esinga ensolo zonna amaanyi era kabaka waazo, so tewali gy’esegulira yonna;
The lion, mighty among beasts, which turneth not away for any;
31 sseggwanga, n’embuzi ennume, ne kabaka eyeetooloddwa eggye lye.
a [horse] girt in the loins; or the he-goat; and a king, against whom none can rise up.
32 Bw’oba ng’obadde okoze eby’obusirusiru ne weegulumiza, obanga obadde oteekateeka okukola ebibi, weekomeko weekwate ku mumwa.
If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, [lay] the hand upon thy mouth.
33 Kubanga okusunda amata kuzaala omuzigo, n’okunyiga ennyindo kuleeta omusaayi, okutankuula obusungu, bwe kutyo kuleeta entalo.
For the pressing of milk bringeth forth butter, and the pressing of the nose bringeth forth blood; and the pressing of anger bringeth forth strife.
